Great video, by the way when nh movements spiked up in price, I literally used to buy invicta watches just for the nh movement. 😂😂

The Invicta had a very low amplitude. It either needs to be serviced or the lift angle was not set right. If it's using a Seiko NH35A movement, the lift angle should be 53°. Another reason for low amplitude is low power

It was the wrong lift angle lol what's the point 🤷‍♀️

Seems to be pretty normal readings. What's wrong with those times and beat errors? You watch is fine.

Amplitude was terrible. Are you new to watches?

What are those smaller sized 2nd line values in each column? (small white font -2, -4, -1, -2 etc.)
The ones below the 1st line, (highlighted, larger font) actual values?

Reminds me of buying a cheap dial thermometer at Walmart. I stood in front of the display and it seemed like every one of the seemingly identical thermometers read a different temperature. LOL

Exactly! Never seen anybody speak of calibrating the calibrator. LOL

On the watch you assembled with the valjoux 7750 either you don't have the lift angle set properly or you added too much/wrong oil to the balance because you're amplitude is too low for a new movement... Unless you didn't fully wind it and let it settle in for about 10 minutes.

Good eye. No that watch was not wound.

@@watchesandjewelry when I received my vintage 1960 Rolex back from being serviced I checked it on my time grapher and was unhappy with the readings and because it was of course under warranty for 2 years I sent back and had them adjust it properly for five positions... So the cost of the timegrapher paid for itself. They reimbursed me for shipping both ways for the original shipping and the second time around.

I thought the crown should be against the metal part opposite the spring to allow the timegrapher to give the most accurate reading. Or is it different for a pocket watch?

    • @VWatchie
      @VWatchie 2 ปีที่แล้ว

You’re right about that. The stem always goes against the metal part when measuring a cased movement.

Hey bud had an issue with the watchmaker I use recently. They regulated for the wrong movement and was running 6 minutes fast every hour. I sent them this. Thoughts if this makes sense? This is what I sent them.
“One thing I forgot to add was I believe your watchmaker had regulated the watch at 19800 bph which is the regulation for a 1556 movement and would be great if that was the movement, this is why it was reading as being running perfect on the timographer. My watch has a 1555 movement which is 18000 bph which would be why the watch was running 6 minutes fast every hour. So when you get it back it should read on the timographer 18,000 bph on the machine. That year 1972 was the transition from 1555 to 1556 quickeset date movement so maybe that was the confusion regulating off the year instead of the movement.”

Six minutes an hour is hard to miss. I like to keep watches 72 hours after I get them timed. (Which takes time to begin with. ). I’m guessing that if your watch is running that fast the hairspring is touching itself and running super fast. The balance and hairspring should be re cleaned. Hope that helps.

    Help please!
Bought used tudor black bay 58 m79030n
    caliber MT5402
    Time graph
    Test period 4s
    Lift Angle 49 degrees
Wind 30 times let it run for 1 hour
Then I tested it on timegrapher amplitude was under 250 so I wind it 20 more times then my readings were
    Dial up
    +1s/d
    Amplitude 262°
    Beat error 0. 3ms
    Parameters 28800
    Vertical crown left
    -11s/d
    amplitude 189°
    bet error 0.3ms
    Parameters 28800
    Vertical crown right
    -7s/d
    Amplitude 197°
    Beat error 0. Oms
    Parameters 28800
    Dial face down
    -1s/d
    Amplitude 255°
    Beat error 0.2ms
    Parameters 28800
Does the watch need to be repaired?
    Should I return it?
    Thank you

Make sure to let the watch settle in each position for up to 1 minute before recording. But those are pretty good readings for black Bay 58 I have one as well. The watch will vary in different angles. Your Tudor is fine.

Peter, thank you for this. Very detailed.
Couple of questions if you dont mind :
    1. Is this Weishi brand ?
    2. Any major difference between this 1000 model and 1900 ?
    Thanks in advance

    • @watchesandjewelry

This item is sold under several brand names. (Typical products from China). The 1900 offers many more features that you would use if you wanted more professional features. I have both. The 1000 model is better for the novice

I have a Weishi 1900. I understand it has hardly any additional features except the higher res color display and a compressed diagram mode. I got it because it was a mere €30 more on Aliexpress. The color display also makes reading the beat error graph easier.

Does anybody Know what the numbers under the main readings mean

  • @VWatchie
    @VWatchie 2 ปีที่แล้ว

A TM without a gain setting can give inaccurate results. Much better with the Weishi 1900 model.

  • @raygiambuzzi2340

I got one of these for Christmas and I found it to be almost useless. Crazy variations in all the readings even my dialed in Speedmaster. I was careful to know the settings for each of my watches but no consistency nor any accuracy in the output. Really an expensive toy.

seriously? I've been wondering about these devices. Using a microphone and nobody mentioning 'calibrating" it!
How do you calibrate a movement without one of these?

    • @EricBishard

No no no. Your machine is fine. Very accurate.
