I have a pair of the Evox 8's, the first generation which have 12 inch subs in wood cabinet's and have been using them for about a 1 1/2 year's. I use a Presonus 32r stage box run wirelessly using a router and my iPad and run a full 5 piece rock cover band. This system can kick at 1400 watts a side they can get loud if you push them. I was told that you want to set the subs at about 2 o'clock, not wide open. I also do a duo act with our keyboard player and I just use a di box with my Taylor acoustic and it sounds great! It takes me about 15 minutes to setup our whole system. If the subs are boomy just use a high pass filter on the subs and roll some of it off. Will clean up the muddiness of your mix!

Thanks to your video I managed to handle all these different settings... I enjoyed both guitar and voice and made up 3 presets but when I shifted from one preset to another , sudden bang, it was all gone. Ever had such a bug ?
As always, thx. for the great review. May I ask, if you have tried the electrovoice evolve 50m yet? In your opinion, what's the best sounding system?Thx and greetings from Germany.
Hi Julian, I have not used the EV myself but have heard it’s top class. It is more expensive but The ‘top/column’ height can be an issue because its a fixed height. (You can’t raise it higher when you to get over people in a crowded room) That being said I don’t think you’d be dissatisfied with the EV. It ticks all the boxes. I have been using a Bose L1 Pro 8 for 3 months. For what I do I don’t think there is anything better
This guy is cool. Sounds excellent and not pretentious. With hair he's got the Bublee look and shaved the young DMB look. That RCF is a bit pricey for me and heavy. Plus they really don't carry that brand around here. Went from Yamaha stagepas 1k (sounds great. Still use for blues band main) to JBL EON ONE MK2 for acoustic gigs. Stagepas is over 50lbs. Was too much in 95 degree heat with stairs, dolly, etc. JBL is lighter. Has battery and on-board digital mixer. Real sub. They all sound similar, it's just a matter of what features one needs for one's own situation. How many trips from the car can I avoid??? That 87A mic sounds good for him. I tried it. Great at home, but live outdoors maybe I didn't know how to dial it in. It's hard to get it all right live when one a "solo" guy. No one to ask so you start to look for subtle clues from the audience. Not the drunk lady yelling for hotel california. The subtle foot tap under the table is the one I watch for. If a majority of folks are moving their feet under the table its sounding good and tips flow. No foot movement. I've screwed something up. I think guy would sound good through anything though.
Hello friend Thank you for the detailed video I have a question please how do I turn off the mixer and work with the speaker like a regular amplified speaker. Thanks in advance hope there is no mistake in writing this translated
Hi ther again...i need some larger speakon cables for these ssystem..please let me.know what type.of speakon connectors this system use?is it 2 pole.or 4 pole.tnx allot
Good question, for my personal setup and the type of gigs that I play I'd go for 2 x Bose S1's. That said, I'd be more than happy with 1 JMIX8 if that was my only choice. It's got a more versatile mixer with more channels and in a rowdy environment it will be a lot louder than 2 x S1's.
Thank you for the info. Next time could you use a quality digital recorder for the sound test portion? Use the 1/4" monitor, headphone or XLR output and record that since we really can't tell anything from a cell phone recording in mono that isn't designed for high fidelity. Like using a VHS VCR to review HD or 4k movies. That gives us a clean original signal to compare to. Then switch over to the live sound version from the speaker and record it on a decent mic /stereo digital recorder or or use one with it's own mics such as a Tascam Tascam DR-100mk3 (Zoom or others with good mics) placed 5-10 yards away. That Tascam has XLR inputs, 1/4"inputs and and several sets of mics onboard that work quite well. Then we'd be able to really hear what it sounds like vs the source signal.
Nice review 😁 what pa is better for you? The hk polar or rcf j8mix? Im thinking to buy me 2 systems.. the third option is the Fbt cs1000.. maybe any experience. Thanks
If I had to choose 1 I’d choose the Jmix. It’s louder and having a quality mixer built into the column gives it 2 up on the HK. That being said I’d be happy with either. I’ve never used the FBT but I know its a quality brand. TurboSound iP1000 or 2000 are also good options to consider. Let me know what you end up going with 😎
@@jeremylevifmusic sorry I left out the question mark. The old L1 or the new L1 Pro? The Bose sounds ‘better’ for guit and vox only - more natural and clear but its not that powerful. I’d say its good for background music / lite entertainment and busking where the Evox is powerful and can handle much bigger spaces and more instruments comfortably. (And also sounds great) . If I could only choose one, I’d take the Evox.
I'm using the boss RC30 Loopstation.
