I spent a week there in 2017 - our objective was Cilley-Barber, but due to a high avy warning, we decided on some WI4+ routes on Pamola. Man, what an absolute majestic place Chimney Pond is. The east coast is so fortunate to have a place like Katahdin. Great video, glad you guys were able to get up there; it's definitely a grind.

Great trip up at Baxter even without the summit.

Dudes. Rookie mistake with the sled ropes..run the rope thru some conduit, long enough so you won’t get run over by your sled on the downhills…

On December 28th, 1979, with 4 friends we climbed up Pamola, across the KnifeEdge and reached the summit in a blinding whiteout at 2pm. The plan was to follow along the east face down to the Saddle trail. We got disoriented and headed to far northwest. TBH it was really grim as it was going be dark in an hour. After taking a compass bearing we (myself and my late friend Ken Hokenson who 4 years later tragically died on Mt.Washington NH)) corrected our path and came out of the clouds right at the Saddle junction. Got back to Chimney Pond at 7pm. I've climbed some big mountains around the world since this trip and have had other close calls- Mt Katahdin was the first one for sure.
