My days between 1990 and 1994 raving in Plymouth, ages 16-20 were some of the best years of my life. I was at this Rave too, of course. Fucking banging or what! Listen to that! Yeah, I’m from Plymouth and was there from almost the start and used to meet people who came from far and wide to our raves! 91 was the golden age for me, though 92 was good as well. Though by then some dickheads had started going and you’d start hearing the MC calling for security to certain areas. The Rowe twins for example. Pair of muppets. I remember someone getting cut or stabbed in academy. In one of those corridors by some stairs.
There was about 20-25 of us that would catch a coach from Exeter (Devon) to go to these, The Dance Academy and The Warehouse in Plymouth. Every Sat from about 1989-1992. The best times. I often think about them as being some of the best times in my life. The friendliness from the other ravers has been unique to those times.
This was the best club ever but it only had a 2am licence so as soon as the Dance Acadamy started doing the all nighters The Warehouse was finished. The Dance Acadamy only had a licence to sell alcohol until 2am (in the early years) but they kept going until 8am, if only The Warehouse had adopted the same idea i think it could have kept going a lot longer. Remember the massive queue outside then a bloody coach load would turn up from somewhere and you would be shitting yourself you wouldnt get in. I think the capacity was about 2750, massive but unbelievably popular.

Proper Rave and Proper Drugs...Lee's Mrs's in there dancing....I was in the middle with my back to the camera. Three years after this it was a disaster. I used to see Little Kev going around doing the filming and his mate with the long hair....Harry

Plymouth had an awesome scene back in the day...so many great clubs and local DJs...plus great people

They did have the one all nighter there 8 - 8, Alpha on valentines 1992. And what a night that was. For some reason they never had another one!!!

Ricsta the rave was called TRUTH. Flicks was a name The Warehouse changed to but everyone called it Warehouse still.
