Nice reviewing! You're so right when you say most people never heard of thus maker. I get a blank stare when I tell people about them. I started with a used set of Sierra 1's. I was shocked at the large sound they put out. I then sold them and bought a pair if Sierra 2's. They were very good with the added ribbon tweeter but the bass was not as dramatic. I then upgraded with the 2 EX kits. Now I'm back to the huge extended sound at both extremes but this time they are jaw dropping! In-riom response is, I think, 32 or 33 hz and they sound it. They never sound harsh or fatiguing. They are truly tower speakers in a bookshelf form. Iv'e gad them now for well over a year and they continue to amaze me!
Walter, thanks for your nice comments. What an amazing speaker and my sons favorite by far. It’s crazy what these speakers can do. I would love to upgrade to the 2ex someday. I can’t say enough how these speakers perform beyond belief.
I’m enjoying the videos! The BMR is a step up from these and quite the speaker. It’s now sold by Dennis at Philharmonic Audio again as he’s having them built overseas in amazing cabinets. He also has a less expensive mini monitor using top drivers that is quite good. I think Danny at GR-Research probably makes the best affordable speakers, but they’re kits so not for everyone. Ascend has been making high value speakers for a while now. I think their best value option is their lower line. They’ve kind of gone under the radar for a long time. When the Sierras came out, they were one of the best options in their price range. The market is really competitive now (thankfully). Looking forward to the next headphone video you mentioned!
Thanks Cujobob. More videos coming had to take a parenting break but back at it this weekend. I’ve spent some time doing some fun recording over the last two weeks and received some new hardware today. I will me mixing in speakers and headphones this weekend along with a few amps. I want the curved cabinet bmr’s for sure if I could figure out how to get them easily. My son and I were doing a shootout with the Sierra 1 and jbl 590 this week. David and Goliath for sure and the Sierra can hold it’s own.

Just ordered a set, New I will audition and maybe upgrade to the higher end model.

I also tried bought the gr xls encore but decided not to go that way. I think I will order the dual sub kit though.
