I check on this match often to admire the quality work on display-Hampton's,Valencia's,and MW's.
All worth many looks
I remember i was the worst on my team, but watching this makes me feel honored that I took the opportunity to try to learn this discipline.
I wrestled in Illinois from 6th grade to my Junior year of High School. I'll always regret not giving it my all and letting opportunities slip away, but I learned so much from wrestling and it taught me discipline only wrestling can teach.
Isaac Hampton(Boy in yellow) won state champion this year! This is his second time in a row winning state!💪🏻

Agreed, that would a nice feature to add, but unfortunately there's no practical way to implement that while running from mat to mat at tournaments with dozens of mats.
I just never knew there was a thriving weight class for boys of this age. Did they 106 lbs? I just don't recall knowing boys in h.s. that we're 106 lbs. Maybe I'm too old to remember.
The weight has been as low as 95 lbs from what I can recall, you probably just don’t remember them bc they were tiny lol
You can tell Valencia is used to wrestling bigger older guys. Probably his brother's. This was a good match tho. No injuries.

Kid in the yellow looked like he didn’t know what was going on

I believe there is a dis advantage to the guy in yellow even though the other guy was a better opponent and that is the guy in red is wearing leggings and knee pads which I think can have the ability to hang on more to his opponent and not slide of as would be the case sweating.
They can both wear them , its their choice
The real advantage was pristine technique with the strength/agility and reaction time to go with it. Also the shorter kid was probably 10 lbs heavier than other kid b4 weigh ins
Why did one wear a helmet and the other didn't?
At this tournament, headgear was optional. The wrestler who was not wearing headgear chose not to.
One can wear a jock strap one don't have to. Blue socks red socks? Nike Adidas? What's the point? One wrestler was well trained skilled and kicked ass the other was way out of his league period. Nothing could have saved the one who was defeated.

@@HpyPpl I'm guessing you didn't mean it literally when you said there are no rules, but for others who may not be aware, it's important to clarify that there are rules about what wrestlers can and can't wear. Any special equipment like knee pads, helmets, arm/leg braces, etc. can't have sharp or abrasive surfaces, if they have any hard surfaces those must be padded, and they must not interfere with the application of any legal holds.
Kid in the yellow is more worried about his friggin hair than a championship. If it's that much of a distraction, get a haircut. This is the difference between a decent wrestler and the next level.
