The more you see of the Tempest the better it gets and the more you want to buy one , EA are going to see thousands of these . So easy to clean its crazy and the K+ is maturing like a wild fire!! Great video guy's
agitation seems to only start once the beads are almost fully to the bottom ,and looks like the majority of the waste are left or rather pushed up to the top of the beads ,so when you refill all the waste are going to be pushed out first.
I have found on mine that after the cleaning process the first lot of returning water is dirty, so i have added a Y valve to divert water until clean. Good Vid
Hi Tim have you thought of trying a small air pump connected to the air tube in bottom of tempest leave one valve at top closed & the other open to allow the excess air out or empty a small amount of water out then boil it then open drain similar to wrighty’s home made one just a thought 💭 🤔🤔
Certainly works, there is no doubting that at all. The bead cleaning a few days was cleaner than normal so it seems the tempest is taking the solids from that filter which is no bad thing.
It’s hard to figure out where it’s coming from to be honest. I look in that pond all the time and it’s crystal clear no bits or anything. The Tempests have certainly eased it as when I last cleaned it wasn’t as dirty as I have seen it before. I am upping the fish load this weekend so we should see even more.
Have you thought about using a new filter brush like a bottle brush to clean the inside. Just an idea or maybe evolution aqua could make a dedicated one.
Quick Question I have an eazy pod complete which is pump fed from pond. I want to put the tempest behind the eazy pod as a polisher. None of the installation diagrams I’ve seen online show this style set up with the tempest. So would I have flow issues if I I do this? Main issue I’m worried about is if any reduced flow might cause the eazy pod to back up and spill over, draining my pond? Also would using two tempests side by side help reduce the possibility of this happening? Regards mike Enjoy watching your channel👍🏻
An efficient filter doesn't hold solids, it get rid of them. Your media holds onto solids, as seen during the backwash stage in this video. The bubbles restrict the waste from leaving the waste line. Switch to a buoyant bead media and increase the waste line to ¾". Attach air hose from inside the cannister ⅓ up the cannister to agitate the beads during backwash.
Have you or EA considered some form of removable cover/sleeve to reduce the algae growth, considering its winter they look quite mucky, I imagine the in the sunlight and heat of summer they will be solid green and will accumulate a lot faster?! Will be interesting to see how they cope!
I suppose it may be superficial but looking at your tempest after a few weeks they don’t look as visually appealing as they first did. I know they have matured which is good but Let’s say after a long time you may not be able to see the media inside. I really like the results and look of the tempest but personally I would like to minimise the algae as much as possible. Is it possible to clean the algae off the interior? Are there any benefits to having algae on interior? If I was to locate somewhere I can see the filter I would like to keep it clear. Thanks for your quick reply!! Ash
I can see that the mark 2 Tempest will not only have a cover, but will most likely have a couple of cable ties to hold clips - those clips will hold a UV tube and the whole lot will then be covered
Hi Tim, I was asking on a 3500 gallon Pond would I need 1 or 2 on the Skimmer Line. You came back and asked me would the Skimmer just be feeding that. I replied at the moment the Skimmer is Pumped straight to a Waterfall.
Another great result. I presume you could connect an air pump to the bottom air line, then remove the top cap and boil the K1 as you would with a Nexus. This would not only clean the media, but probably clean the clear plastic casing as well. Just an idea. Let me know if you think this would work or not. Thanks
I've just come across this product and was thinking similar, I have a small eazy & there doesn't seem to be that much difference. I felt similarly, that an airline in the bottom would allow the K1 to 'boil' and, in the process, clean the walls. I wonder if there's already DiY versions out there?
Did you mention in an earlier video that you intended to try the tempest after a nexus?. If so when are you intending to do this. The results from that should be interesting.
More great results.. only issue i can forsee is eventually with the alage build up you won't be able to see inside the unit, but not a train smash I suppose.
@@TimWaddington I suppose on that basis they could make them in a solid colour rather than clear although I know some would rather be able to see what is going on through the algae caked cylinder. Perhaps Paul could test out a black version of the Timpest!!
Half of that muck is the algae. The “fines” have got more and more as has the algae. If you put two new tempest up I bet the first clean is a lot cleaner than the one you’ve just done. 👍
Why don’t you show us how many cleans on one unit until you get clear water? Rather than do just one clean and once clean run the white bucket on the inlet to pond see what you get would be good to see this !!!!!! So more buckets needed
Why would I put dirty water back into the pond? The next test is to not clean them for 2 weeks, to see if there is a flow restriction on the units, when I do the video for that I will have to clean them a few times no doubt so will do that and see when they are clean.
The most I’ve ever cleaned them is twice and that was on a video. I’ve tried my best not to mess with them to be honest and just let them get on with it. I will do a triple clean after the 2 weeks and see.
@@TimWaddington For me personally to be convinced I would like to see you carry out a clean and then when powering back up put the white bucket under the pond inlet to see if dirt is coming through. If there is no fines in the white bucket then yes, I will be impressed and it would change my opinion on this product for the better.

definitely catches some crap, but what's it letting through the other end? Not at all convinced by this, far better and cheaper options in my opinion. A piece of filter floss in the skimmer basket would do as good a job. Would be a step down taking a bakki off to put one of these on.

@@TimWaddington each to their own, I am simply offering my opinion on what I see, no need to try and belittle me because I don't agree with yours, isn't that what the comments section is for? interestingly you haven't denied that filter floss would do a better job though, and if I paid £250 for a filter that I needed to maintain every other day after work, taking longer than cleaning the floss the joke would be on me haha. The other interesting point is the amount of crap slipping through the bead in the first place for the tempest to then probably let just as much back into the pond. Not trying to argue with you, just viewing my opinion.
@@Samp2503 or the skimmer is doing what a skimmer is supposed to do and ‘Skim’ debris? I think it’s showing how good our skimmers are. Didn’t you see the 8 day tempest video? It’s always difficult to understand how people just make a instant decision not to like a product, a product they haven’t even used. Something we never used but see them as being excellent.
