Rangers have spent a fortune. They've misspent a fortune. Guys like Matondo for 3m and 5m for a backup left back in Ridvan, then they left positions in dire need of upgrade like CM and GK up to chance. The recruitment has been a shambles despite the huge amounts of money spent allocated to it by investors. Most of that responsibility lies with Ross Wilson and/or Stewart Robertson.
I once spent 2 grand on a ridvan but at least i actually got some use out of that

I’ve said before that I’ve been pleasantly suprise by Halliday on here and it helps when we get to see the human side of rivals players and I’m not going to change that on one game . Tbh tho if I was a hearts fan I would be asking serious questions as to why someone who’s not started much I for quite a bit now and who has even been an unused sub suddenly comes straight in to the team. Is it Halliday only being up for it cos it’s against us or is neilson thinking with the history a passionate Halliday would get right in about it.either way tho it’s strange . The main reason this celtic team cant do what strachans team did in terms of CL last 16 is the gulf that has widened even further in terms of financial backing, celtic have nowhere near the money these other teams in the champions league do, it’s gotten worse since the strachan days

Si, you're defending Ross Wilson here without knowing it all. The money we've bought players for and the number of players who are actually good enough is nowhere near enough. Celtic signed Hatate for just over £1m quid and we've signed Matondo who's on 30k a week and was signed for £3m. Granted, boys had an injury but even when he's played he's not a £3m player. Not about how much you have in the wallet it's how you spend what's in it, Rangers spend it incredibly poorly and there's countless examples since Wilson's been here.

The problems in the Champions League started when Celtic moved to the current buy to sell model (Lawwellball) in 2013.
It was further compounded by Managers who opted to go into it with a single approach.
Deila started it with a rigid 4-2-3-1 with a high press ,then Rodgers took over and stuck with the 2-4-3-1 but with ball retention and quick counter attacks as and when the situation arose.
Lenny’s second spell he didn’t alter it much and I think paid for it but ultimately he took Celtic to the knockout stages again in the Europa with some decent results.
Ange has also approached it with a single approach albeit a very attack minded one.
The results have been quite stark since Lenny’s big Season in 2012-13.
We’ve gone from last 16 to lost 17 in the Champions League since the Summer of 2013.
You cannot hope to compete at this Level in Scotland if you are routinely looking to offload your key assets in order to finance the new recruits.
