  • The Rain, the Park & Other Things in 1967, and Hair in 1969 (2:54) (Remastered) are performed by The Cowsills. The Flower Girl was co-written by Artie Kornfeld and Steve Duboff for their 1967 album The Cowsills. The single reached #2 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. The hippie, sunshine pop-rock song was originally titled The Flower Girl but was changed to The Rain, the Park & Other Things so as to not be confused with Scott McKinzie's San Francisco (Be Sure to Wear Flowers in Your Hair). The renamed title has no lyrics in the song. From the Hair rock musical, the title song Hair also peaked at #2 for The Cowsills in 1969, their most popular single. The Flower Girl was featured in the comedy film Dumb and Dumber starring Jim Carey.
Original brother members Bill, Bob, Barry, and John Cowsill perform The Flower Girl (accompanied by the song's unofficial music video) and recorded the debut album. Sister Susan Cowsill, brother Paul and mother Barbara joined the pop group later for Hair. The Cowsills were the real-life influence of the TV Series The Partridge Family starring David Cassidy and Susan Dey. Check out The Cowsills live in 2015: • The Cowsills Live Happ...

If you were a child of the 60’s this was a popular song. Don’t judge.

So, 51 years here: these are two of my favorite songs, and to see and hear them side by side... well, it's interesting and important. To perceive that period of transition is to better understand the decade before I was born.

it should be noted that the cowsills produced and recorded hair themselves

This song exudes the 60s vibe like The Rascals' "It's A Beautiful Morning"

This was my sister fav song and love it also. It reminds me when we were kids. My sister has now past. Every time I hear this song it brings me to tears it's so pretty and sentimental. ❤️❤️❤️

I’m fifty and while this music wasn’t new when I was, I still found my flower girl and I still have a head full of long flowing hair down to my waist.

Wow the 12 string guitar is really impressive. The cowsills were more than a band. They were just like us...kids
