As a black person, thanks a lot with helping me as I’m.just learning how to use color pencils. I’m very pleased with how you blend the colors of pencils. Thank you again.🌹❤😎
Just found this Amberle, been looking for dark skin tutorial for ages. It was good to see how the colours built up and gave such a smooth end result, will defo try this out as I have this pic and think beginning with grayscale will be good place to start. Thank you.
Thank you so much! I think starting with a light grayscale will definately help with skin coloring! It makes it so much easier! So happy, that you like my skin combo. I hope I can get a better routine, so that someday I might bring an updated video, which shows the steps a little bit shorter, so that it would be easier to follow. And thank you, you are very welcome! :-) Have a nice day!
Been colouring for a while and only just found your channel today! This is the best tutorial on dark skin I have come across, not a colour of pencils, easy to follow etc. and the result is awesome! Thanks so much Amberle, I will definitely be checking out more of your tutorials. - Sian Blievers
Amberle …just found your channel and really enjoying it. Can’t wait for a live stream. Very informative easy to follow tutorial. You are a good 👍 teacher!
I just recently found you by this video and it was an automatic subscription! I can not say thank you for this video. While so many out there have long videos showing all they do with music (which imakes me offen tune out on watching)YOU TELL US WHAT YOU DO! I find that more important ! I want to know when you are doing a light touch or press harder here. That's how we learn! I love your video it was a great mix of teaching with words and sight. Keep up the great work and she came out beautiful.
❤❤ Wow! That is amazing! How you colored the first one is awesome! The second you did was amazing too! Question: How did you know those are the colors to pick if I may ask? I have never done any skin color before. I have been picking out some pictures lately that I need to learn skin. Your video was the first video I have seen on how to do dark skin (hope I am not being offensive here). This was a really well ❤ done video ❤ that I have seen so far. 😊
Thank you so much and sorry for getting back so late! Uhh, that is an interesting question regarding how to pick the colors. I guess I just look at them and then see, that they blend really good together. I knew, that I wanted a warm brown tone, so the brown tones were easy to pick. It was difficult to figure out, which highlight colors to pick here. That took me some try and error. I also tried to put in some slate grey, because I thought, that Christine had used some blue in her shadows. That was quite hard to blend though. Don't use that color anymore. Hopefully you found it inspiring and will start with your skin coloring soon as well!
WOW! love this so much!! thank you so much for sharing! ive been searching for a great darker skin combination to practice and this one is perfect! will have to try this out soon :)
The paper I'm using is a printer paper of 160 gram matt paper. The one, that I was using there is no longer produced though. I would guess, that it would compare to a Neenah cardstock.
i've been watching your tutorial colouring Dark Skin, before I begin, I would like to know if I should purchase special pencils or can I use the pencils I currently have which are Staedtler and my Spectrum Noir... I would be very grateful for any suggestions. Thank you
Hi there. In this tutorial I use Prismacolor Premier. But I don't think, that you should buy special pencils. Try with what you have. Unfortunately I don't have the mentioned pencil brands. Therefore I can't give you any tips or color combination. But just try to match them up as best as you can. I used mainly warm browns. Wishing you a lot of fun coloring!
Hehehe, thank you so much Carrie! I plan to do an updated version in August, when I have a bit more time. I will color the Samba Dancer of CK. Thank you for leaving me a comment!
Hi. The paper was an all purpose matt 160 g printer cardstock from Rainbow, usuable for crafting as well. But it is no longer produced. Haven't found a replacement, that I like as much, as this one. I love paper, that take some layers, but not too many. So I rather like a smooth surface, so that the outcome also looks smooth. The papers that are produced for coloring pencils, often take endless layers, but you can't get rid of the paper structure showing through. Have you seen the video from Sarah Renae Clark? She made a good video comparing all kinds of paper for coloring! Thank you for your comment. I'm sorry, I couldn't help you out really.
Thank you for sharing this video, it's really helpful but i do have question what kind of prismacolor pencils did you use like did you use (prismaclor premier potrait set?) Like what set did you use in this video?😇
Hi Pumplin Angel, thank you for your comment. I have used the Prismacolor Premier full set. To be honest, I didn't even know, that they had a portrait set. But I have checked it and it has almost all colors needed. The Espresso can be swatched with Dark Umber. Chestnut and Slate Grey are not included there, but I think it would work without these or you buy some singles. When I started a few years ago, I had a 72 count and as I loved it so much and everyone in the community seemed to use PC, I quickly invested in a full set and I love it. I have realized though, that since the pandemic the prizes for single replacesments and for the sets are increased quite a bit, at least in my country. But they do last me a good while. I hope I could answer your question.
Yes, absolutely. It is the last step, but then I burnish the complete thing. On some papers though you can't get rid of white paper flecks. But on the rather smooth paper, it should work!
On this page, I was using a 160 gram copy paper by Rainbow. But it is not longer available. Now I'm using a copy paper by Tecno colors, which is not quite as good, but ok. If I really want to layer, I use the 160 gram Cray On by clairefontaine on the back side. The front side has too much structure. I like it smooth.
It's a matt printing / copy paper. The one I use is from Papyrus Plano Superior. And it is 200 gram. But I couldn't find it on Amazon.com. I can give you the link for Amazon.de. Maybe it will help you to find a nice paper for yourself. But the most important is, that it is not glossy or have a special finish. www.amazon.de/gp/product/B002L8JC1C/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o04_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 I also really the the Rainbow paper, it is also from Papyrus and it has 160 gram. Also matt and all purpose paper.
Hey Jeanniene. I think I have the page lying around somewhere. I could film the hands on the Easter weekend for you, if you can wait so long. If not, you can just try to follow the steps and apply it to the hands. Let me know, what you think.
@@amberlesilencia3728 I’m so scared to attempt on my own because I’m so new! It's the same with the clubs, the artists making clubs are more into to themselves than generalizing it for everyone as to specific, general categorizing.
I am so frustrated. I watched you painstakingly create a beautiful portrait with color pencil. Each move you made, each color you choose it got more and more amazing. Then at the last you finished with the white pen and RUINED your fabulous work.. It went from fine art to cartoon . Don't feel too bad I see this all the time.. Please disregard my critic if your intention is to make cartoons. If so you make beautiful toons.
Indeed, I am very happy with my cartoonish Adult Coloring results. I am by no means a fine artist. This is an adult coloring channel. This image was drawn and sold for coloring, so I have just colored it. And yes, I absolutely adore the semi realistic cartoonish style. If I want to see something realistic I can just look at a photograph. But you shouldn't feel frustrated by the work from others. Rather take a look at your own work and decide if there is room for improvement.
