Elvis shook us up and loved us tender. He really was a country boy who thought he was doing nothing wrong. He helped so many people and hurt himself innocently. He was the best entertainer of all time, and left us so much. God Bless Him.

I've watched this several times and it never gets easier to watch. Elvis has been physically gone from us for almost 47 years, yet his spirit is with us to this day. His light can never be extinguished. He never would have believed we're still loving him after so many years have passed. His music is as fresh today as it ever was; it's timeless. He was on loan to us from God, and I think in Elvis's heart, he knew that. I've always believed that a huge part of Elvis's appeal was his spirituality. He connected with people on a spiritual level. My heart aches because I miss him so. Until we meet again, Elvis. Rest easy. CJ thanks again for the Definitive Elvis series. God bless. 🙏🙏🥰

He was suffering from serious medical conditions. Galucoma, intestinal problems, blood pressure. These needed legitimate medications. However, the gruelling touring schedule was not conducive to these serious conditions. His doctors were not strong enough to stand up to him and tell him like it is.

Plus, I think that, today, with the drug epidemic, we understand that it is imperative to extract the addict from their home and put them into a treatment facility. As some have already stated, working as hard as he did, he really didn’t stand a chance of getting well. He would have needed to get off of his grueling treadmill. So sad but I’m grateful for his life and talent.

@@kayhathaway6956 Who was going to "extract" him from his home? He was a grown man; however, today we know more about how to conduct a successful intervention. One or two people confronting him would accomplish nothing. Everyone who meant anything to him should have gone to him AS A GROUP to say, "You MUST confront your health problems and your prescription drug ADDICTION. We're here to help you do it." As wealthy as he was, it's appalling that he had such incompetent medical care.

I had never seen this documentary! Thank you for this!! It burns me to think people believe he is alive. Not just the fact that they believe hes alive but to believe this man would fake his death. That is someones own opinion I guess but first of all I don't think he would have done his fans that way as much as he loved us all. Next he was a proud man and if he was going to fake a death would make sense for him to be found in bed or something that would not humiliate him as falling off of a toilet would. But the most convincing reason of all to me is that his beloved only child, Lisa, was at that house! I do not believe he would have done anything like that to that baby for it to haunt her forever!! Just had to share my view and everyone is entitled to that. I am thankful that the world was able to be blessed by the grace and talent of this beautiful soul, RIH Elvis!!

As Bruce Springsteen once said of Elvis Presley "It's like he came along and whispered a dream, and somehow we all heard it. There have been pretenders and contenders, but there's only one King". Undoubtedly the most brilliantly, remarkably talented, gifted, mesmerizing, captivatingly enchanting, spellbindingly magical entertainer to have ever graced the world stage. A bona-fide master showman in every sense of the word. Elvis Aaron Presley, the echo will never die, because the sun never sets on a legend. Rest Easy Hillbilly Cat, TCB Forever n Always.

Not even Vernon Presley could stop him. I know his momma sure would have. He was full of yes people all around him. They were all afraid if they told him to stop, EP would cut them off. Sad really. No interventions. The pills caused his twisted colon. That's what killed him. 💔💔💔 RIP Elvis your daughter Lisa Marie and grandson, Benjamin has joined you. 😢
P.S. Lisa Marie only kept in touch with Elvis one friend, Jerry Schilling and Elvis ex girlfriend Linda Thompson. Nobody else. What does that tell you? A lot!!

Wow, I just listened to Linda Thomson say something very poignant. I survived a near death Heart attack last month and am off from work right now recovering and I realized that nobody really cares, everybody totally avoids the taboo subject of death because it's a dish eventually served cold to all of us, so life just immediately goes on as if you never even existed no matter who you are or what you did in life, some people are remembered more than others but nothing stops which is something our fragile human egos have a hard time grasping, so we try our hardest to just ignore it all. All of our feet walk on the same Earth and death equalizes us all. A little more than a month earlier a 56- year old co-worker named James who was the nicest guy passed away suddenly on a Saturday, i had just seen him and was talking to him that Wednesday, now I'm 55 and as horrible as my health has been i immediately thought to myself that I'd be next for some reason and i almost was. Now going through the motions of his wake and services and seeing his family, then it dawned on me what it was that was at the root of his death, it was definitely this daily grind of our work life and how all of it just grinds us down to death!!! I learned that his daily drive to and from work alone was an unbelievable routine and that alone would've killed anyone, it took me 2 hours driving through the most insane traffic to get to his neighborhood for his wake, OH MY GOD MAN!!! YOU DID THIS EVERY DAY BOTH WAYS?!?!? THATS WHAT KILLED YOU!!!, well I digress......Well this is what he did for his family and it dawned on me that I dont think his family will ever know just how much he did for them and their comfort and happiness so they could live in a nice, beautiful and safe community. I nearly took a heart attack just taking that drive and many of us at the wake met up and were all talking about "that unbelievable drive to get here", none of us could believe he was doing this every day, so it makes me think of Elvis and how we can work ourselves to death.......so whats it all for? It's funny that even with all of this, sitting around at home alone doing nothing is driving me crazy but yet I've grown to utterly despise my job and all of the people who pretend to be your friend, I almost died, I spent 2 days in CCU and almost nobody has reached out to me, called or even texted me any well wishes, so this is where we're at on the Earth, these are ugly yet very serious lessons we learn......and some never learn them😢

Elvis was a Beautiful man inside and Out . He was one in a billion . He gave his all and gave from his heart. He loved to see a smile when he gave gifts from his heart . He served his country and loved America and was proud to have been a soldier. Elvis changed American music forever. He is all the hall of fames . He made over 30 movies and sold over a Billion records. Every one that was alive in 1977 knew exactly where they were when they heard he was dead . I for the first time I saw Grown Men and Women crying where ever I went . . He is Timeless and his music and legacy will live on forever. I will leave with this quote Elvis said when he was chosen as one of the ten most outstanding men in America: When I was a child, ladies and gentlemen, I was a dreamer. I read comic books and I was the hero of the comic book. I saw movies and I was the hero in the movie. So every dream I ever dreamed has come true a hundred times...I learned very early in life that: ‘Without a song, the day would never end; without a song, a man ain’t got a friend; without a song, the road would never bend - without a song.' So I keep singing a song. Goodnight. Thank you.”

This goes for fans from the past and fans today because they judge him as well. You guys only love him as the entertainer Elvis not the human being Elvis. And it wasn't just the prescription pills that took a toll on him as well it was the work and the touring and the shows. And the only thing he used the pills for was for his sicknesses and other health problems in my opinion. If i met Elvis i would love him more as a human being then him being a entertainer. And that interview from 72 he doesn't sound like he is slurring or rambling he just sounded tired..

Does anybody know why the funeral was so quickly. Wasn't it the next day?

The funeral was held on August 18, 1977, 2 days later. Nothing strange about that at all.

There was too much pressure on Elvis. He performed more shows than he should of. He needed to take more breaks and relax more or rest between shows or do less shows and get paid more.
That wasn't Elvis fault. He was being gauged. As well some of the gentlemen seem reasonable but the fact is some of them were part of the problem at times.
Some of them also worked for the colonel & reported to the Colonel on Elvis' personal life. When Elvis was friends with Larry the Colonel decided and Priscilla helped & made Elvis actually burn his spiritual books. Larry told to leave and came back years later. Afterwards Elvis just bought the books again.
Larry Gellar Elvis' spiritual garu and hairdresser had his house broken in the same weekend as Larry was invited to the Colonels house. As well Larry' hotel room was searched by the police at one point. Things were really tight in the 60s.
In Larry Gellars book he recounts a meeting between the Colonel and Elvis where Elvis was literally given an ultimatum he was told by the Colonel he could not enjoy his own pursuits or beliefs. The circle G ranch had to go because of the increase in the Colonels wages or cut of the profit and he could not be friends with Larry or read the books he enjoyed. The colonel did not want Elvis to have the freedom or have an interest in freer thinking. He wanted Elvis to be completely under the control of the Colonel and only do the work that made the money. At this meeting he saw Elvis being forced medical drugs to subdue him in his own home while the Colonel came to lay down the law.
People wondered why Elvis was so into guns. He had guns in every room for protection. He had many death threats. The mafia were in Vegas, & Hollywood.
There were times when Elvis was purposely drugged more than necessary to keep him unconscious or controlled so that the men could party and Elvis would be unconscious. There is an account in the book 'We Remember Elvis' by Wanda June Hill that was extremely concerning involving the Colonel. Elvis was seen being led out of a hotel room by men looking drugged up. Elvis saw someone he knew i recall at an airport Palm Springs? and tried to get him to talk to him. Elvis was led away by the Colonel. I can't help thinking he must have been frightened. The Book Anonymous is a fictional account written for Elvis' benefit based on the info he spoke about.. These men that were around Elvis were partying a lot while Elvis would be sleeping. They didn't want Elvis to interfere with their partying lifestyle. When fans or friends of Elvis wanted to see Elvis they would refuse to let them visit. When females wanted to meet Elvis the men used their position to manipulate the female fans. They would say thet needed to be with them first to gain entry to Elvis. There were friends of Elvis who would not be able to visit or meet with Elvis because of the men blocking the way.
They simply wouldn't allow Elvis to have his friends visit him or allow Larry and Elvis to be friends at one point.
