I felt that the only reason Kane won the WWE Championship at KOTR 1998 was so that viewers won't be traumatized by the image of Kane setting himself on fire, which he had threatened to do if he did not win. But the main story was focused more on Steve Austin as WWE champion, and Vince McMahon trying all means to make him lose the title. Gave Otis, Baron Corbin and Austin theory the briefcase when they weren’t really over(well Otis was a bit over and should of cashed in) but they wouldn’t give LA Knight the case when he was there most over star on the roster
The problem with Knight having it this year is that Roman still has a title and then won't wheel him out now until his match with Cody. Which means you'd have to have Knight challenge Seth which would be face vs face which honestly wouldn't work well either. So Priest getting the case makes the most sense. It means the case is in the hands of one of the heel stables and as such leads to good storylines with Seth. Plus the back and forth between Priest and Balor has been an absolute highlight that we wouldn't have gotten otherwise. My bet is that Knight wins the next rumble and challenges Priest for the World Heavyweight. While Cody takes on Roman for the Universal at Wrestlemania.
To be honest, Otis as a working class everyman against a Tribal Chief is the type of old school Flair vs Dusty feud I'd love to see. You can even make Otis say "Nobody thought I'd get the girl, I did. Nobody thought I'd get the case. I DID! Nobody believes I can beat you, Roman. But you know what they say, three time's the charm! they could have made it a storyline after the royal rumble. with zayn having a shot at the universal title at the elimination chamber and rhodes going for the wwe championship

That’s why they brought the new belt and put it on Rollins. But there’s really nobody else to take his place. Rollins is and always will be one of the best main eventers in WWE. One thing most Roman fans bring up is that he has banger matches every time he does defend the title. And that’s partly agreed. But this past match with Jey was terrible. Slow paced bc he got injured early. And he hasn’t been seen since summerslam. They really should’ve brought the black belt back to raw. It should’ve been a title split match at Wrestlemania. But about Rollins. Nobody is over with the crowd like Rollins on raw rn except Jey, Sammy, or Owens. Or Cody. But that’s not happening. Putting the briefcase on Priest was the dumbest fucking thing ever. And now he has the tag belts as well. So they’ve backed themselves into a corner again. Priest is a mid card performer. If you ask me. I think they should put the WHC on Gunther
Booker T vs Triple H. They had built this up as if Booker was for sure going to win the title over the insufferable bully Triple H had become by that point. Everyone was ready for Hunter to lose the title… everyone except the WWE itself. It didn’t help that Booker was completely buried due to it taking forever for HHH to cover him after a Pedigree.
I still remember that Rollins vs Fiend HIAC match, I literally stopped watching WWE for more than 2 years after that. But ever since HHH took over, made me interested in WWE once again.
In a nutshell, "anything involving WWE managements obsession with Roman Reigns". Seriously. He, and that obsession are #1 on my list of why I stopped watching wrestling... after watching it regularly since I was a kid in the mid 80s. I held on as long as I could, hoping the boring RR experiment would finally come to a close and they would focus on OTHER talent. But finally had to give up. And I have found out that in my absence, the obsession has only gotten worse, and expanded to the Usos too (2 wrestlers I could never stand, and only got more grating). WWE killed things so badly for me that I couldn't even enjoy AEW when it came around...
Watching King of the Ring 1998 Live was insane if you didn't see it on PPV or in person. No one watching was expecting that. The match with Kane and Stone Cold had no chance of following it and the stipulation was senseless. No one cared.
If you watch the Cody Rhodes documentary, it feels like a triumphant story of a wrestler reinventing himself and rising to the top. All for it to end with him losing at Wrestlemania.
Having Roman being on top as champion for 3 years is booking themselves in a corner. Now while Roman needed a character change. Nobody said he had to be top champion for 3 years. The story has dragged on entirely too long. Nothing but long segments, he still can't cut promos which is why he has Paul Heyman as his manager. And the Usos and Solo consistently interfering in his matches.
Someone said it fact . Only reason roman improved his character & mic skills is only due to Paul Heyman & his creative influence . Not to mention Heyman & Usos alone are carrying the bloodline storyline all alone
Also it took almost 10 years for roman to be over with fans whereas someone like LA Knight is still huge over with fans in very first place when he joined the company
Why do people still say roman reigns can't cut a promo all I can imagine is him talking about running the show being the tribal chief and oozing charisma I would argue that roman is the most charismatic individual in WWE and has the best acting skills and is definitely the most handsome.

It did not pay off... Everyone just wants him to drop the title now... Wrestlemania main event this year isn't even about a great match, it's about the end of a nightmare and the beginning of a possible cool storyline for the wrestler who is actually the biggest in the world right now.
Otis was strong with Tucker Knight. I think he deserves a world title story run. Why shun hard-working wrestlers??? They deserve a push. Don't keep them at the bottom thoughout their career.
Biggest problem with WWE now. They protect everyone so much to a point that every major match has some weird finish. Cant remember the last time I saw I clean finish
I still feel like Austin Theory should've cashed in on the NXT Championship. Charlotte Flair won the women's Royal Rumble and challenged by the NXT Women's Championship, so no reason for Theory not to cash in for the men's. It also would've made the NXT Championship feel more important by having the MITB winner cash in on it, regardless if the cash in was successful or not. Better than what we really got.
WWE painted itself in a corner by having Roman Reigns be champion for over 3 years with "no end in sight." WWE wants the fans to believe that they didn't know Reigns was switching to a part time schedule?? Yeah right.
I honestly think of Theory cashed in during the Summer Slam last man standing match would have been perfect. He waited for Brock and Roman to knock eachother out, and then comes out, inserts himself into the match and just takes selfies with an unconscious Brock and Roman. The most Austin Theory thing to do
Kane vs. Austin wasn't a creative blunder at all--the entire point of the plot was that there was no realistic way for Austin to win, as engineered by Mr. McMahon. The Undertaker being responsible for Austin's loss set up their feud, and Kane's hotheaded decision to allow Austin a title shot in spite of McMahon's protestation the next night on Raw made logical sense. Most importantly, it made for an EXCITING and INTERESTING story with SURPRISES, qualities that are completely missing when you decide champions have to hold the belt for years and years, which is boring and predictable AF.
The problem with theory wasn't Roman having both belts. The problem is that they strapped a rocket to him and pushed him to the moon because he's vinces guy and no one wanted that. With a meteoric push and rubs from countless wwe legends he still can't get over
This is crazy to say but theory would’ve been a mega star if he successfully reclaimed the U.S title and successfully cash in against Brock Lesnar and Roman during their last man standing match by low blowing and using his finisher on both man only to be victorious
@@Mega_Collosas yes he would, I mean he would have a short reign as u.s champion but holding the undisputed title, he would be like Daniel Bryan finding ways to win by cheating
Hell In A Cell matches ending in a “no-contest” is the biggest insult to the talent, the fans and the whole business! It was designed to bring finality to a feud. Also, do they not know how to come up with a finish that makes both participants still look “strong” anymore? They want to protect the challenger, but not drop the title, there are ways to do that. It’s a tough finish to have as the main event of Mania, but you could have a draw… maybe a Last Man Standing match where both men go to war and neither can answer the 10 count… again, not easy to do for a Mania main event, but it keeps the title on the champion without taking credibility from the challenger. But they don’t know how to tell stories with in-ring action and psychology anymore.
You know I really feel like WWE could have had Cody go for the WWE title . Maybe in a storyline that had Roman not accepting his match offer because he was able to beat Seth Rollins 3 times in a row . Something Roman has never been able to do . Cody convinces Roman to just put up the WWE tittle and that way Cody finishes the story , Roman is still 1000 day champ and now we’re back to having two titles that feel equally important , since the tribal chief had to be defeated to gain one of them .
The wrestlemania 39 Cody lost actually paid off..Cody didn’t need to win it on his first try that would’ve been dumb and fans would turn on him extremely fast..that one actually made sense . The rest of them yeah they was dumb but tbh WWE losing Pat Patterson is the ultimate blow..he came up with a lot of creative finishes. Rest Easy Pat🕊️🕊️🕊️🕊️

Finn Balor's Demon character was badly wasted by WWE
So Roman Reigns being in most of these situations proves he is the biggest facepalm for WWE
I was ringside in Vegas when Theory won MITB. When I tell you NO ONE in the arena was smiling when he won 😂 then he put the briefcase in my face on his way back through the curtain to showboat 😒
Seems like WWE don’t know how to use MITB contracts lol
anything to do with the fiend after hell in a cell 2019 should be here, such a cool idea for a character absolutely pummeled into the ground by wwe creative
I would like to know if the 1000 days as champ thing has paid off like they thought. I know whenever I hear about the top merch sellers Roman is not on the list.
It didn’t, LA Knight a guy who hasn’t even won a championship yet is one of the leading superstar in merch Roman I don’t even think is in the top 5
It doesn't help they come out with new shirts all the time. I can't stand reigns and have been happy we aren't getting much in the way of the bloodline. Give that time to others who actually shows up to work.
Not anymore tho. Bloodline merch hasn't been in the top 5 for quite a while now. LA knight and judgement day are the lead merch sellers now.
Don’t forget Cody.
It did not pay off... Everyone just wants him to drop the title now... Wrestlemania main event this year isn't even about a great match, it's about the end of a nightmare and the beginning of a possible cool storyline for the wrestler who is actually the biggest in the world right now.
Pushing Cain Velasquez & burying Kofi Kingston.
Otis was strong with Tucker Knight. I think he deserves a world title story run. Why shun hard-working wrestlers??? They deserve a push. Don't keep them at the bottom thoughout their career.
Come on man like Vince would say "that would be bad for business"
Watching this after Cody finished the story
I hope we never see the Demon again. Once it lost to an old man in the Hell in the Cell it was done.
Why the demon is cool
@@lisandrarodriguezrodriguez2266the fiend was cool, but what did they do? they squandered him by horrible booking. The demon should be retired
Honestly WWE should've never gave Otis a push when he is never a main event material in lifetime
I was thinking the same thing as well.
This video should be called "10 times WWE booked themselves into a corner"
WWE painted itself in a corner by having Roman Reigns be champion for over 3 years with "no end in sight." WWE wants the fans to believe that they didn't know Reigns was switching to a part time schedule?? Yeah right.
I honestly think of Theory cashed in during the Summer Slam last man standing match would have been perfect. He waited for Brock and Roman to knock eachother out, and then comes out, inserts himself into the match and just takes selfies with an unconscious Brock and Roman. The most Austin Theory thing to do
I would put Goldberg VS The Fiend on here that match was booked completely the wrong way
most of these decisions can be fixed simply by not booking the matches
KNOCK IT OFF…ITS OVER…IT CANT BE FIXED
That 2019 Hell in a Cell PLE was absolutely 🤬💩 but any of these PLE matches were questionable
HIAC 2019 is the worst booking decision WWE has ever made in the last 20 years. Period.
Making Mr. Kennedy vs. Edge for Kennedy's MITB Contract was okay. Otis never should have lost His.
The problem with theory wasn't Roman having both belts. The problem is that they strapped a rocket to him and pushed him to the moon because he's vinces guy and no one wanted that. With a meteoric push and rubs from countless wwe legends he still can't get over
Anything involving Predator Vince
Making Austin Theory cash in MITB on the US title, instead of letting him drop the briefcase in a match.
Or just lose to Roman. He lost to Seth anyways 🤦🏾♂️
@@sergiodbd They could've pushed someone else with the briefcase instead of wasting it.
The Hell in the Cell 2019..... I remember how FURIOUS the fans was on twitter. YIKES!
Man Vince was an awesome heal, here’s hoping McMahon jumps to aew
This is crazy to say but theory would’ve been a mega star if he successfully reclaimed the U.S title and successfully cash in against Brock Lesnar and Roman during their last man standing match by low blowing and using his finisher on both man only to be victorious
no he wouldnt....wwe has no megastar..cena was last megastar
@@Mega_Collosas yes he would, I mean he would have a short reign as u.s champion but holding the undisputed title, he would be like Daniel Bryan finding ways to win by cheating
@@reinerbraun6670 there is a wrestling star and a mega star...learn the difference.. ,the rock, cena are megastars..not theory
I think Otis winning the MITB was was accidental.
Seems that WWE always has an issue with whoever they put against Reigns, they don't want him losing.
They should have added Damien Preist as Mr Money In The Bank
Gotta love 2 non skippable ads.
One of the decisions that backed them into a corner was making Otis drop the mitb to the miz of all people
I hated that moment between balor and roman balor deserved to win!!!!!!!!
They screwed him over
i am just here to listen the intro music!
No mention of Katie Vick, Wrestlelamia?
Roman pinning Cody at WrestleMania 39 was absolutely amazing!!😂😂😂
As tired as I am of Roman, Cody is far too overrated imo
Agreed Bro 😂
@@constablekennedy7705 bro I was literally the only one in a room full of people rooting for Roman that night hahaha OMG it was so damn funny!😂
@@rcdune7132 Respect!
Reminds of me being of the bloody few that rooted for Roman in Royal Rumble 2015 and beyond.
I miss bray wyatt as the fiend
They obviously knew what they were doing for number 9 it was part of the “how’s he supposed to bleed”
Honorable mentioned:
1. Roman vs Lesnar at WM31
2. HBK vs Bret Hart at Survivor Series '97
Roman didn't fight Brock at wm 29
@@lisandrarodriguezrodriguez2266 Oops! I meant WM31.
Number 11 Roman holding the title so long.
Don't worry . WM 40 is there for Cody to dethrone roman to win the WWE title to finish his story finally
@@tamzidmohsinkhan3333 I don't want cody being the undisputed champ I would rather him become world
@@jonathonshoats562But thats not the title he needs to finish the story.
@@jonathonshoats562 nope . Cody only wants WWE title
I don't want him becoming wwe right now not until their separate at least
The wrestlemania 39 Cody lost actually paid off..Cody didn’t need to win it on his first try that would’ve been dumb and fans would turn on him extremely fast..that one actually made sense . The rest of them yeah they was dumb but tbh WWE losing Pat Patterson is the ultimate blow..he came up with a lot of creative finishes. Rest Easy Pat🕊️🕊️🕊️🕊️
I’m kinda surprised that a few recent ones weren’t on here. But I guess you do have a lot of material to work with! I’m pretty sure if you did a top 100 you would still have way more options than you could use!!! Just saying
I thought it was literally 10 times they facepalmed hard.,
5 of the top 10 is about protecting roman
Wrestlelamia keeps us with updates and doing that this fast is carzy.Almost at 2 mil guys.Yall got it💪💪
Bottom Line
WWE always have 50 - 50 random bookings , bad creatives , same rematches all the time , having same talents like roman hogging spotlights for segments while ignoring others & always insulted fan's intelligence for years . And of course WWE still have worst creative teams who doesn't even have knowledge of pro wrestling business
It's so easy to hate Roman Reigns when he receives both top titles of the show and just leaves to have a light schedule..... what the heck was that! I just miss the good old ruthless aggression era days😢
Watching this before night 2 of Mania. It’s 10 mins away
Roman Reigns being Undisputed WWE Universal Champion was the official turning point as the resident final boss of WWE.
More like his part time schedule by holding the best hostage for doing nothing is another pathetic decision
@@tamzidmohsinkhan3333 Yup
@tamzidmohsinkhan3333, completely agree. Roman says acknowledge me, yet he’s barely there. How is that worth acknowledging😆
@@aaronsilverman6882Exactly
Vince should of stepped down when PG era started
Otis could be a good World Champion if WWE pushed him correctly.
😂😂😂😂
The one that pissed me off the most was Reigns vs Balor. If the demon character could use some powers at a point, why couldn’t he kicked out from the spear!!🤷🏽♂️
Roman beating Cody was the right decision
Cody will win this year
Theory failed to cash the U.S title when at that time Seth gave open challenges make no sense and the the ref stoping the match in a Hell in a cell well it's supposed to be Hell... 😂
Roman got so lucky that the WWE was in such hot waters during his title reign. It was the easy option to keep the belt on him and they were terrified of losing any more fans
WWE has often become too predictable
I actually thought the part where Kane said he would set himself on fire if he lost cool. It was rage attitude era so I thought it might have happened.
Otis as champion would have been epic. At that time he was one of the most interesting part of the brand
Take a shot every time a different HiaC match is listed 😂
Firing Mandy Rose when she was NXT's Biggest Draw at the time.
Who?
@@mlgfoxymangle3657Google NXT Toxic Attraction.
Cody losing is fine so long as he challenges again and comes out to the Rocky theme in Philly before his theme kicks in
7:34- This was by far another one of those “slaps in the face” from WWE that I’ve pointed out and the “fans” that see my comments call me a lier and that stuff never happens! Unless one wrestler literally murders another there is no such thing as “too far” in a Hell in a Cell match!!! I am so happy this happened before I got back to watching!
For me, the biggest facepalm was the end of the Invasion angle. Instead of it being truly a WWF vs WCW scenario, they gave us Austin vs Rock again.
Apparently one night with the title was enough for Kane to NOT want to *contractually* (🤣🤣) immolate and kill himself. Thanks Vinnie Ru...🤦♂🤦♂
