    Don't forget the shipping and handling from Midway USA which is more than the wedge it's self

    Holy shit, that optic is 4 inches above the bore. That's the first thing you need to fix.

    • @su3095
      @su3095 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      He must be running night vision with that scope height.

    • @matthewriegner5180
      @matthewriegner5180 ปีที่แล้ว

      Bore height doesn't matter for group sizes so long as you're behind it consistent and aiming at the same spot.
      However ammo, barrel, and technique would have a bigger impact on group sizes than the wedge.

  • @AF4AT3
    @AF4AT3 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    You demonstrated that is certainly does not harm accuracy and i just do not like slop between upper and lower, so I am getting one. Thanks...

  • @DonziGT230
    @DonziGT230 6 ปีที่แล้ว +8

    Fitment between the upper/lower doesn't change the gun's accuracy. That crappy optic set-up probably does. The fact that each group had a different poi tells me there's something awry with the gun and/or shooter.

    • @romeowhiskeylima556
      @romeowhiskeylima556 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      It maybe a little tighter but nothing noticeable. Definitely would not effect performance shooting from a bench vise. A free floated hand guard, an aftermarket barrel, performance trigger, and so on would definitely increase more of that “little edge” he’s trying to get.

  • @JVRottweil
    @JVRottweil 7 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    Thanks for the video but I bet your first group was because of a cold clean bore. I mean it wont hurt but it has absolutely no effect on accuracy. Hell I just built a rifle with considerable slop between the upper and lower and still managed to shoot .387 and. 577 five round groups without a wedge.

  • @520simms

    11 year old video, and still a topic that is debated as to if it helps or not... All I can say (from personal experience with multiple AR's) is it DOES tighten upper/ lower fit, and that helps ME shoot better, less movement while firing, less noise to distract me, maybe just psychological, but still seems to help. Anyway, January 2024 and I just found these for $1 each (somewhere? lol) for some builds I have planned (I'll use them if needed) ... $4 for shipping, so I just ordered 5 of them, should cover me for awhile :)

  • @maybeiam3367
    @maybeiam3367 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    You should do these tests blindly and eliminate any bias. Meaning you don't know if you're shooting it with or without the wedge. You might just be shooting better because you expect better accuracy.

    why is it that all you marines that do you tube videos are all tacticool overweight and sweating like they had a workout just walking down the stairs to there basement. You would think that the Marine Corp would have taught you a little self pride. I know when I was in the Corps I took pride in my physical appearance and at 51 years old I still do. Thank you for your service.

    Being that the optic is mounted to the upper and is not affected by any movement of the lower how does this make the gun more accurate. Shooting at 100 yards the slightest movement can affect accuracy. Thanks

    • @blackwateroutdoors7364
      @blackwateroutdoors7364 9 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It reduces the movement, like bedding a bolt action rifle. Same principal.

    • @Skwisgar2322
      @Skwisgar2322 ปีที่แล้ว

      @BlackWater Outdoors bedding a bolt action only helps by allowing you to free-float the barrel. Since the AR barrel is already as close to free floated as possible, and the optic is secured to the upper, the upper lower fitment makes no difference.

    try a foam ear plug

  • @TheRevenantRising
    @TheRevenantRising 7 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    Bullshit. The barrel, BCG, and optic are all part of the upper receiver. Slop between the upper and lower receivers has zero effect on accuracy.
    If you take anyone to the range and have them shoot past 50 yards, there first group will almost always be sloppier than their later groups. The wedge did nothing for you here. All that happened was your trigger finger got warmed up and your fundamentals were more solid. Plain and simple.
    Not to mention, you're also comparing three shot groups to five shot groups. Anyone can shoot a tight three shot group. It's when you start shooting five and ten shot groups that the truth comes out.

    • @multiHappyHacker
      @multiHappyHacker 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Holding the upper more rigidly to the lower should help you aim without some slight slop moving your point of aim, I believe the results. It should be mostly about holding the upper where you're aiming better.

    • @jrbullock
      @jrbullock 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      TheRevenantRising agreed. It can help with receiver play but it isn't for better accuracy. That is a big load of crap.

    • @Flemdragon
      @Flemdragon 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Justin Bullock it doesn’t eliminate slop I can say that now. It just doesn’t let it make noise. It’s fucking rubber come on people lol.

    • @wlehtola
      @wlehtola 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I agree completely I can't affect mechanical accuracy much. But I think it could play into consistency with hold and sure would be one less thing on your mind. I laughed at the "look at these 3 but ignore my 2 flyers way down here."

  • @SitNSpinRecords
    @SitNSpinRecords 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    Honestly, the wedge wont affect a standard "combat" set up 2-3 moa rifle enough to notice other than taking the slop out..
    They work a little better on precision or sub moa rifles.
    It also lets the BCG cycle slightly more constantly, but again.. We are talking about measurements that show up on paper, but not really noticeable to the average shooter.
    A foam ear plug will do the same thing if you are just looking to take the play out..
    A wedge might help if you are looking to cut your group size down .20" on your precision set up at 300 yards.

    Semper Fi Devil Dog! Thanks for the display and example. It blows me away all the "ËXPERTS" that say - the Upper and Lower receiver slop is OK and doesnt really effect accuracy. WTF? Ofcourse it does! Why is it that the MARINES know better? Thanks...if your still out there after 5 years.

    • @TerminalM193
      @TerminalM193 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It has absolutely ZERO effect on accuracy and that's been proven through actual mechanical methods. This guy is a sample of one and he's using a product that's now know to be a complete sham and he's pushing the it as if it actually works which is a huge red flag.

      Want I'm hearing from a Army Shooting Team National competitor is the Accuwedge improves groups by 8%-9%. Which makes sense to me. That is based on over 20 years of shooting experience and thousands upon thousands of rounds.
      My expectation is the people you are listening to don't have a means to quantity a 8% improvement in groups. But a competitive scoring system across many shooters, many competitions, and many thousands of rounds can detect and validate that gain in accuracy.

  • @davemarkel9392
    @davemarkel9392 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    There are more issues going on with that weapon. As it has already been stated, take the carry handle off and put your optic on the flat top. Not only does it look bad, it can't be very accurate. Find it hard to believe you've served in the Corps but stranger things have happened. Go on a diet, bro. You're gonna have some heart problems at some point. Listening to you huff & puff standing still is the first indication you need to get yourself in shape. Good luck to you.

      UnknownUser 8888 You don't need a free float rail to have an accurate rifle. Your right about the scope though. Lol! Talk about a neck weld.

    • @Skwisgar2322
      @Skwisgar2322 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@hardtarget2359 the point is, there are way more things with this rifle that will have far more impact on precision (the correct term for tight grouping) then the upper/lower fitment. I am fine with people using these because they don't like the feel of a rattling AR, but it has no effect on mechanical accuracy or precision.
