Also if you lift the felled tree up higher pull your boom in closer to cab and twist towards the direction you truly want to cut in, the trunk will twist around the chassis of excavator without messing anything up ie. track collision causing lift and spinning around, I've done this many times to build big piles of logs just need to make sure felled tree is away from any obstructions it could get caught on when doing this...
Folks might be confusing things with the lumberjack mod - which is what allows you to mulch stumps with a chainsaw.

Just to clarify to everyone and I've made this huge mistake myself, if you try to cut straight into the trailer it'll suck the entire tree in before the proper cut is made and doc your value quite a bit for improper length, I've also tried building a bunker with concrete barrier placeables and lowering the ground on one opening then backing up to the custom bunker, this does work decently enough but is rather tedious to setup and properly move trees to cut into the bunker, so instead I decided to use 6m or 9m containers only and the heaviest skid steer with big bag winch, I cut all my trees into piles rather close together and just use the skid loader to grab them and maneuver into backs of containers, I've done 12m logs this way but the skid steer can only move them if you position self dead center at biggest end of the logs and tilt winch down attach then tilt back it'll make the biggest joisting spear ever and is kinda reckless fun to do and watch then maneuver pointy end to back of container and ram it in there hard lol, hope this helps some folks I just found the skid steer is better to maneuver and considerably cheaper to use then big wheel loaders, but if you have the funds do what feels good and right for yourselves...
VF, if you have a bit of money to spare, getting an improved home and more permanent yard would also be something to work on? There are several (not expensive) log cabins around, maybe even on the modhub. Perhaps a variation of the No MansLands hut?

I notice that you drag the trees with the excavator, a more realistic option could be you getting a tractor and a winch to drag them out so you have cut them to length with the excavator.
It’s not unrealistic to drag a tree w the excavator tho
The potential damage to the harvester head if a tree got snagged dragging it could be expensive. It would be more realistic to use a winch, clam bunk or forwarder.

From what I've seen you automatically lose at least $3800 on every container load because of container cost and you don't get the container back.

20:58, if I remember correctly you can use a forestry mulcher on leftover rock piles and mulch them into ground without having to buy bucket and trailer, just not sure if it is a specific mulcher or if the skid steer one works as well, but I do know for a fact that I've done this already when clearing out room for my 1st field on this map after busting up the rocks, hope this also helps and apologies for blowing up the comments I just keep seeing same issues across multiple videos and try to help where I can, I've pretty much got this map figured out after roughly 80hrs total over past 2 weeks or so and have learned a lot of work arounds after dealing with some of the more frustrating aspects to this map and the logging and rock stuff constantly being a battle in the beginning, I'm also 90% done with coaster and on boat number 2... Great content as always love everything you have released and info you've given to the community keep up the great work and have an awesome Thanksgiving holiday!!!

I recently cleared a pile of stone from my land during the winter with snow on the ground and did not get any rock piles...wonder if this is intention or a bug???
I think that's because both use the heaps function of the game and you can't pile one type on top of another.

With you and a couple other streamers being partners with APEX I thought I would give them a try. Ordered on of computers the have on the site, just added a hard drive to it, so no custom stuff. Today makes 9 weeks waiting when they originally say 2 to 6 weeks. A few weeks ago I was told waiting on 1part and it should be in that week and the build would be started that week or the next, this was on the 8th of Nov. Now this week I emailed them since to order status portal has been down for a couple weeks. I was told this time they are waiting on 2 parts now and they should be in next week, so I will see. Getting close to filling a fraud claim on them. They have a lot of my money and with getting different stores each time and an unreliable web site not sure how much longer I am willing to play the waiting game. Just FYI for you all.
Can you load your wood packs in the containers
Unfortunately not.
I’ve never managed to cut a tree into a container without losing the whole tree and it saying wrong size. I don’t think it’s possible to cut into a container without losing the tree since AFAIK all harvesters feed then cut.
It’s unfortunate that to make the movable “claw” of that log fork go under the logs requires you to lift the front wheels of the loader so far off the ground. Does spoil the realism a bit, as I am pretty sure it would damage the vehicle if done like that in real life.
From watching you use the big Volvo wheel loader in your early Silverrun stream it looked like that Volvo log fork performed better without the above antics, so maybe switch to that setup once you are flush with cash?
I think that's more to do with me rushing and falling back into bad habits rather than any issue with the wheelloader itself. If I approach it with a little more care, I think I can probably get it to perform as well as the Volvo one did.

That's not a bad idea. Could probably makes some bowls and pepper grinders out of them.
Take small bits to the old sawmill grinder. It gives you 2x woodchips. Really worth.
