    Just a point of clarification I think - at the 6:54 mark you state the Bosch motor takes 1,000 sensor readings per second - the R&M website FAQ states that it is only 200 readings per second. "The Bosch system measures around 200 times per second how hard you are pedalling and controls the motor assistance accordingly. When you stop pedalling, it interrupts the motor power immediately."

    • @Propelbikes
      @Propelbikes  4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      You can see from the Bosch page in the top paragraph. Their communication has been consistent of 1,000 times per second. Not sure where R&M got that info.

    If you can not get hold of the Supercharger 2 look at secondhand Super charger Ist generation. We got one each in Nov 2017 and the bikes are great. Battery life is excellent and the battery discharge over the last two winters has been very low. We got the Gates belt drive because in our part of East Lancs England ( Pendle Hill country ) we have hills and plenty of them. The Gates belt drive allows no loss of speed on the hills as well as low maintenance. One last point get Sena Helmets that have blue toothed and allow a half mile range to communicate with fellow cyclists as well as linking up with your phone

    Nice review, thank you.
    I did notice you compressing the suspension at each downstroke of the pedals. That’s probably because of the new motor. It’s hard to explain but the 1:1 ratio transfers each downstroke to the suspension in two ways at the same time (the push down on the pedal and the pull forward of the chain) which the old motor separated because you had an almost constant pull of the chain due to the multiplication of the pedal cadence.
    Although the new motor seems nice it might have that unwanted side effect on the suspension.
    The other disadvantage of the new motor is that the chain ring is lower than the motor which exposes it the ring and belt to impacts from below.

    • @Propelbikes
      @Propelbikes  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Great feedback. I will have to look at this more closely. I also didn’t setup the suspension sag.
      I’ll have to talk with some of the R&M engineers about this topic and see if they have any thoughts. Surely the clearance is a thing though.
      Great points though and I really appreciate the comments.

      @@Propelbikes Hi, I was visiting your website and noticed you have a picture of a Delite Rohloff on the page of the Delite Touring. It can be confusing for your customers. propelbikes.com/product/riese-muller-delite-gt-touring/

      @Propelbikes  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for the heads up on this. We were in a rush to get the new bikes up and all of the pictures weren’t ready. We have been updating everything now.
      Also - I ended up having a long discussion with Martin Hess about the suspension on the new bikes. I believe what you were seeing was mainly related to the air pressure not being set correctly before riding the bike since I had limited time. But I should note that the swing arm pivot has been repositioned on this new model to address the concern you mentioned. If it wasn’t moved it would have efficiency issues, but the pivot point is effectively directly at the chain line which is ideal.

    hey man great review the first one i see around :DD I hope you could tell us the differences between the new and old gen of the motor especially in terms of drag when you are not using it or when you pass the km/h limit. Thanks !

    • @Propelbikes
      @Propelbikes  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks! The Gen 4 has practically no drag when pedaling without power. I spend a good amount of time on the 25kph CX motors in Germany and I found it very easy to go well beyond the limits of the assistance. This is a considerable improvement from the Gen 2 system, but in the stated it’s not as big it a thing where 32kph is standard and 45kph bikes are pretty common. I can see this being a much bigger deal in Europe and overall I’m very excited about the change.
      I will admit the motors I rode were early production samples and they were a bit loud, but I look forward to testing a production model this week at Eurobike. Let me know if you have any additional questions and I’ll do my best to answer.

      @@Propelbikes I ll really want to know which motor is best for the delite. I think the speed version is my favourite. So ,will there a big difference to the non speed version?
      . The specs are still the same.

    • @Propelbikes
      @Propelbikes  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I would totally go for the speed motor! The CX has a bit more power at lower speeds, but the torque is the same on both motors and they both give up to 340% assistance now.

    Hi Chris, thank you for the updates! On a slightly irrelevant note, if your shop carries Tern GSD S00 and HSD, I would really love to hear what your views on them are. We own a 2019 Load 60 and we are looking for a second cargo bike to transport a 8yo. I am on the small side myself (155cm) and find the Load rather hard to control especially when I don't have time to slow down to a halt due to unexpected road scenarios. I am hoping a Tern GSD or HSD would be a solution. Look forward to more videos from Propels.

    • @Propelbikes
      @Propelbikes  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Winnie! Thanks for reaching out. The GSD and HSD are really great! The S00 has Power than the HSD will because of the CX motor and the GSD is a little better setup to carry bigger kids, but I don’t think you should necessarily rule the HSD out

    PROPEL, I think many E-bike customers want to know max speed. What's the max speed of this bike? The road group is thinking about and E bike rider as the motor pacing guy. A guy who sets a high pace that everyone needs to be able to draft at to simulate race conditions w/o destroying the guy whos doing the pacing.

    Hello! I really like your video! Im considering one of these, but since i live in Norway i have to register it as a motorvehicle and drive it on the road together with the cars. To me It is very important, from a safety point of view, that it can keep its max speed also uphill and im wandering if it will? Greetings from norway.

    • @Propelbikes
      @Propelbikes  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I totally understand. I know the registration is more challenging in other places. If you have long distance rides it might be worth it, but for many they opt for the standard motor to be allowed to use the trails.
      Both motors have the same 75Nm of torque so I don’t think you’ll have any trouble climbing hills.
      I look forward to visiting your beautiful country in the near future! :)

    Such a great review! Do you think R&M will ever offer a throttle in addition to pedal-assist for the U.S. market? If not, do you sell a similar eBike comparable to the Superdelite/Homage which has a throttle? Thanks so much!

    • @Propelbikes
      @Propelbikes  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks Ron! I appreciate your comment. At the moment R&M works exclusively with Bosch and Bosch has said publicly that they don’t have any plans to add a throttle to their motor system so I would say it’s unlikely. For another similar bike, there really isn’t one. Some may claim to be similar, but I haven’t found one remotely comparable in the quality. I would highly recommend testing one or even testing the Bosch system as many feel there is no need for a throttle with a good pedal assist system (not all are good). I’m among that camp.

    @UCTeNXcQYYOG_rXGAsQWKQfA Chris, love the videos mate thank you for putting them out there.
    I'm also unsure between the Rohloff and Rohloff HS. I seem to hear a lot that the torque curve is higher above 20mph on the HS. I saw this in a video you made also called called "20mph vs 28mph Electric Bikes: Which Should I Choose?". If I was to put a SpeedBox into a CX motor will I struggle more to get up to the 28mph a little more? I'm not sure if you have tried a Superdelite with de-restriction or not but I'm really curious as to how much difference there is. I will mostly be commuting to work and would actually register the bike as a moped but I do have area's where I can safely go off road with some hills responsibly and safely. I do like the fact I can turn the tuning chip off when on road though also so I'm really stuck. It's either Fox sus and cx motor or standard sus and HS.
    Really wish they reviewed the laws faster on these things.

    Considering that the Rohoff (highest spec version of the bike) is not available with the optional smartphone hub ... is there a way to get the bike to power a smartphone anyway? (all it would take is a power connector) That way a rider could buy a smartphone handlebar bracket and plug their smartphone into the bike and use google maps or anything else they wanted on their phone without loosing their phone battery charge.

    • @Propelbikes
      @Propelbikes  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If you get the Kiox Display you can power your phone from the micro USB port on the display. This isn’t possible with the Intuvia though.
      The Smartphone Hub doesn’t work with Eshift, but the Kiox and Intuvia does. We generally recommend the Kiox display.

      @@Propelbikes what are the steps required for maintenance of this model?
      I am planning to import it to a country where e-bikes or cycles in general is not a thing, so there are absolutely no local dealers. I want a high quality, comfortable, long range, easy maintenance bike, such that once I get it imported, I will not need to send it back to dealers at all...
      Any suggestions on this model or any other model from any other manufacturer that would fit my needs?

    • @Propelbikes
      @Propelbikes  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Sorry about the delay! Your reply didn’t show in my notifications. These bikes are generally very low maintenance. The motor system generally doesn’t require much of any maintenance, outside of that you’re dealing with the Rohloff or Enviolo hub. A derailleur is more common and potentially easier to find someone to help service, but the Rohloff hub is pretty easy to service (mostly just oil changes) and the Enviolo hub is usually just swapping the cables overtime. Outside of that it should be mostly just brake pads, tires and eventually you’ll need to service the suspension although many people don’t perform this service and they usually function fine.
      Where are you looking to import to?

    Does anyone know if you can upgrade your a Touring version to a Rohloff?

    • @Propelbikes
      @Propelbikes  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Technically you can upgrade the Touring version to a manual Rohloff with just parts and a decent bit of labor, but you would void the warranty. To do the electronic version it’s a bit more complex as the motor would need to reprogram and there is some rewriting to do. It’s usually not so cost effective and not all shops will do it. It puts a higher liability on the shop as they then become the manufacturer of the bike and most shops insurance doesn’t cover that sort of thing.

    How easy can you maintain 45km? Can you compare this to a stromer? 250watt vs 750watt?

    • @Propelbikes
      @Propelbikes  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The peak power is pretty similar, but based on the way the motors are built it's very slightly easier to maintain 45Kph on the Stromer.

    Does anyone know a similar, but a bit less expensive bike? It should be full-suspended for sure.

    • @Propelbikes
      @Propelbikes  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      You might currently see some deals on 2019 demo bikes or left over inventory. You won’t see much else out there with the options and specs like this, but there are plenty of full suspension bikes out there. What are you looking to do with the bike and what sort of details are important?

    • @EdgarRenje
      @EdgarRenje 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Propelbikes I like that edgy frame design a lot and as I mentioned before, it should be full-suspended and have similar cargo options. What I don't need as much is the battery capacity. I would like to have a a comfortable city bike, but with the look of this one. Maybe the application possibilities will expand to tours later.
