To all the future soldiers, this shit is too easy. OSUT or BCT and AIT, if you have motivation and mental fortitude, I promise it’ll be one of the best experiences of your life. I met great people and I’m still meeting great people. Right place. Right time. Right uniform. Remember that and you’ll be fine. I wish you the best of luck future soldiers.
It's been 30 years since I went thru Basic at Fort Jackson. That said, I still remember it like it was yesterday. One of the greatest experiences of my life. The US Army changed me in ways I never thought possible and for that change, I am eternally grateful.
Don't forget to deduct those who try to kill themselves in basic, those who fake injuries to get out and those who simply break down and refuse to train. I was at Benning, i was born again there but a lot of fat was trimmed there just saying. I will say The drill seargents could see this as things went on. They where proffessional, they were tough but fair and lead a team. They could see who wasn't to adapt. Senoir Drill seargent McFadden thank you for putting me through my paces. Thank you for not letting up, life does not let up. I can survive because of your pushing me.
I just got back! I got through 7 of the 9 weeks before I got medically discharged, but it still was the best experience of my life! You will become a better person if you let it change you and don’t quit!
Seeing this side of the drill sergeants speaking one on one is awesome! They are big and bad when need be then they can be like this young woman is encouraging and down to earth!
I went through Jackson sixteen years ago. I later meet someone in my MOS that the Army had shipped from the fort Jackson MEPS to basic at fort Leonard Wood.
07:28 Drill Sergeant Legomina & Drill Sergeant Friddle! They were Drill Sergeants for my company when I went to basic training in October of 2017. Echo 4-39 ENFORCERS LEAD THE WAY
I did BCT in 1977, in many ways the Army has improved in training and honesty as to what to expect. No question it was much more mentally stressful and abusive when I was in, now it appears the Army has awoken to realize that quaility, and depth of training is at the core developing good soldiers. Young people years ago were very athletic, we didn’t have computer games, and that is a problem going forward.
Went to Basic in August 1971 graduated in Nov 1971. Ft. Knox, KY. Then to Ft. Polk, LA for Light Weapons Infantry school (11B10) graduated Mar 1972. Was two weeks past my 17th birthday and wet behiind the ears. But I made it.
Is there a possibility to be deployed if I join National guard here in Texas? I’m about to do physical exam then sign the contract and I’m scared to death of the decision I’m going to make. Can somebody please tell me the truth
Look at all these young motivated people, remember this, Basic Training is the easy part. Its what you do after is what the hard part is. You need to watch your six. Make sure you get to go the schools that you want to go to, to advance your career as a soldier. Army values are bullshit, just keep that in your back pocket. The military is just like anywhere else. People will throw you under the bus if there ass is on the line. I have a hell of a story of the fuckery I went through, I could right a book. Take care of yourself. Its only you that will fail if you don't stick up for yourselves. You may experience things that will bother you for the rest of your life. Everyone has different experiences in the military. Some people love it, others may grow to hate it. Depending on your leadership. Not all things were bad in the Army, I have some good memories, but I also have a lot of bad memories. Take care of YOURSELF, no one else will. Army values are for lower enlisted, don't expect higher ranking enlisted or officers to carry those values. Somehow people forget. I am not saying this to scare anyone, but to inform you. Its not what its all cracked up to be. Watch your six.
i've been to both Jackson and Benning (not something i'm proud of) but honestly I liked Jackson better, the training was better, it was pretty rough, and just overall more fun Benning seemed disorganized, the DS's didn't seem interested in being there, I wouldn't go to war with any of those people I went to Benning with, every one of them sucked
Not to be mean. But of course more people go here. Fort Leonard wood and benning are OSUT leonardwood has like....5 OSUT MOS. And benning has like. 1. So 6 jobs for 2 bases out of 150 MOS"s lol. You do the math
They didn't come to serve our country but for the benefits my dad grew up in the hood always getting in trouble and in prison my dad was in the army for 17 years he got out 2 years ago,my dad was a sapper, calvery, combat engineer and ranger
People have different reasons. Some do join for patriotism, others join for money, others for family benefits, job security, travel, etc. There's a different reason for each soldier/sailor/airmen/Marine. You can't just make a blanket statement like that and not back it up.
She has her bachelors degree. Soldiers with a four year degree are made E-4. I have my associates and over 90 credits so I'll be entering the army as an E-3
Either had a bachelors as stated ( you can tell she wasn’t prior service) or someone that is prior service and has switched branches. Depending on their prior rank they may lose some rank.

i've been to both Jackson and Benning (not something i'm proud of) but honestly I liked Jackson better,

How the hell is that chick a specialist going through basic training?🙄
She has her bachelors degree. Soldiers with a four year degree are made E-4. I have my associates and over 90 credits so I'll be entering the army as an E-3
i had a E-6 enter basic training with me lol
Either had a bachelors as stated ( you can tell she wasn’t prior service) or someone that is prior service and has switched branches.
Depending on their prior rank they may lose some rank.
I thought they had a separate program for prior service? they did when I went into BCT. They were sent to White Sands New Mexico.
Seth Chiaro guess not cause I was a fuzzy and the staff sergeant that was my battle buddy in basic training came from the navy.
