Nice finds. My father spent a year in stalag 5a and 5 b. There is the old saying that if a bullet has you name on it will find you. Maybe his was in that hole you dug. He made it home and readied a wonderful family. I dig the music my friends.
What a treasure trove. It really gives you an idea how they lived, what they saw every day. Congratulations on finding it! Better than a museum, because it is in situ and completely authentic, not surplus pulled out of some warehouse to show off.

@@marco.0571 It's ammo for the MG34/MG42 and that IS 7.92x57mm (8mm Mauser). The MG42 is the machine gun responsible for the high casualty rate on DDay, but it was nowhere near 10k people in an hour. Especially since the total number of allied dead that day wasn't even 10,000.
+AC-Adventures MG42 belt. Used it in the exact same cases in 1990 in the army our ammunition was typical 1938-1942, i.e. old stock. These bullets will work fine as they are!! Take care

ziemlich nahezu jeder Opa . hat es verdient . Den Respekt für sein Land gekämpft zuhaben . Ich beneide meinem Opa die Kraft und Mut jeden Tag in Angst...gelebt zuhaben als er noch lebte hat er mir öfter mal was erzählt von seinen Erlebnissen . Ich selbst war in Afghanistan war nicht so Schön ..... Aber das kann man nicht vergleichen mit damals da war Afghanistan ein Witz .... aber schöne Funde und wen ihr mal in Zweibrücken in Rheinland-Pfalz unterwegs seit . da war der Westwall der streckt sich von Merzig im Saarland bis nach Pirmasens in Rheinland-Pfalz. da könntet ihr einiges finden d sind so einige Bunker und Kräben im Wald. Ansonsten schöne Funde wünsch ich euch

Ein Tipp: Das gefächerte Teil (4:50) ist das Plattenpaket eines Drehkondensators eines Radios / Funkgerätes (Frequenzeinstellung), damit Du es zuordnen kannst! Tolle Funde!!!

even if the powder in those bullets are good the primers are more then likely shot, I tried to shoot some old bullets once,they didn't work,the powder inside was still good on inspection inside!

100 bucks that ammo still fires
Used that round for 30 + yrs 8x57 hunting deer , not the machine gun round but the rifle round . Machine gun round was a bit hard on rifle barrales .

Funny, so the Danish army bought surplus Nazi ammunition from Germany after WW2! I've fired plenty of these I was a MG42 gunner while in the army.
