Thanks, i didn’t get a fabric one so i had nothing to compare. I have one of Pippon's deflectors, he wasn't selling inserts at the time. I had troubles fitting mine and Pippon was so helpful. We were whatsapping in Australia. I ended up putting it away and waited for a sunny day to do it outside as the garage light was poor. When i finally got a chance (it was winter), I got it in, the speaker cover protruded too much (mine had little speakers in there). So I trimmed the bracket and all fit in perfectly. When driving, i get the wobble too. I thought it was due to my trimming of the bracket, but you get it also. So now I don't feel I stuffed it. Great honest video, thanks for posting. Thanks to Pippon for providing a great product as you have to sell a kidney for the genuine one. I think what we have looks fantastic, mine has the merc star in the middle, I love it.
Hi, thanks for this comparism. Fabric seems better to me... have the same on my 200K. When there is no windy outside and just slowly floating through countryside, don't use deflector. But on speeds over 80-90km/h it is needed. Unfortunately have no scarf. Greetings from Czech
Thanks for watching and commenting. I do like the look of the Perspex, but I am debating putting the fabric back on over the winter. Shame about the Air scarf, it does make a difference.
@@MarkoVukovic0 Hi, Air Scarf on R171s was an extra option, even heated seats wasn't a standard (mine not equipped as well). But no prob for me as I don't use my SLK as my daily, from Nov to Apr just sitting in the garage while working on some imperfections...
From my research so far, it was an optional extra throughout Europe and the US. Let me know if you have a brochure or something else regards the R171 in South Africa. I am currently trying to write a 3 part history of the SLK from 1998 through to the SLC.
@@swolfjes interesting, wouldn’t know, inherited the car from my father when he passed. I never would have picked a SLK, but I do thoroughly enjoy it! If only there was a bolt on exhaust available, do you know of one that fits the 280?

Air Scarf is standard on all R171 models, is yours just not working?

@@davy-downtheroad Good luck with your project Davy - the SLK forums are the place for hard-to-find information.
Hy David, there is software/hardware to "close" the little back-windows; that makes quit a wind-difference 😊
I have a Mercedes plexiglass one that clips into the headrests, no gap at all. Two quick buttons and it slides right out too
They cost a fortune though, even on eBay 😅

Sorry but I can't help you with that 😒
Where can i buy it if i am in singapore
Interesting. Is it possible to get this wind deflector for the R170 model? Cheers
Yes, speak to pippins. They will reply to emails.
To me it looks like the draft has pulled your poor son out of the car.
