I know that people think Roy was great at United (and he was), but he was such a dynamic player in that Forest team. Brilliant box-to-box and scored some fantastic goals.
Yes Roy and Forest was a match made in heaven. Definitely his best play was at Forest, for me he seemed to carry the ball more than at Utd, that’s not to say he wasn’t great at Utd, just that he was a better watch for a Forest team that didn’t get the exposure as Utd.
My favourite player. At the time he was at Forest, I knew a conquest of his from Bilsthorpe and he used to get her four tickets for the games, so me and a mate and her and her friend went home and away during F.A.Cup run ending with Tottenham that season. I think her name was Michelle and she genuinely thought she would end up with him !! Misguided at that age you see.
Roy chose the right club@forest to start his career.If he had chosen Man Utd. 😊😊he would not have got into the first teaming the first season. His career got to a flying start.
People don't realise how good of a player he was. His hard man side was the least important side and only used it when frustrated. Most of the time he just won the ball and passed the ball forward and made sure everyone else done the same, simple. Maybe the most important player for a team ever if you look at what they won with him

He let Vieira win the league at Old Trafford and Vieira won the winning penalty in the FA Cup Final against Utd in their final meeting with each other. I could go on and on. But I respect Roy too much to ruin his reputation.
