Thank you so much! You saved me a few hundred bucks! I was looking for a case for my daughter to easily transport from school and the wheeled cases are super expensive! But the golf case idea is amazing and I will be trying it out soon!
Thanks for posting this informative piece about how to thoroughly protect your vintage low Bb bari! Sorry I didn't get to run into you at Maker Faire! Just wondering, how hard is the foam you used? It looks awfully soft for this use. Also, do you know if SKB would honor the lifetime warranty for cases bought used off Ebay?
Yeah, it's relatively soft foam. From people I've talked to, you want the instrument to have a little bit of "give" inside the case, as that flexibility is able to absorb the shock of a physical hit (if the case is dropped by TSA, etc.). And this case has taken some tumbles, and my horn's been fine. I believe SKB has a lifetime warranty for their cases, so.... I think so?

Ayaskant AK Sahu so glad this helped you out!!!
most bari sax cases are just at the max of what is allowed as carry on luggage for overhead bins so if you can get on first they should fit.
Would it be possible to do something similar for clarinet or tenor sax?
Sure!
The SKB case has straight sides but your case has one irregular side. What am I missing?
Hi! When you flew with your baritone did you have to buy another seat for it or did they let you bring it on board
