- EPIC WAVES - The first Spring Tide of 2025 | Seaham, County Durham
A short video of the first Spring Tide of 2025.
A Spring Tide has nothing to do with the season of Spring, if fact every lunar cycle brings a Spring Tide - a tide where the waves reach their maximum height. The opposite to a Spring Tide is a Neep Tide.
Hgh tide was unfortunately after dark so I recored this footage about an hour before the tide reached it's maximum potential.

Hi Andy, lovely watching the sea, the waves spilling over the harbour wall. Very relaxing to just watch , take care x Julie and tony x
Thanks Julie. Last year high tide was a little earlier in the day so was an even bigger spectacle but it was nice to see the waves in the late afternoon glow all the same.
Watching now 👍
Beautiful views sea was rough taking over the lighthouse and walkway.
Good video, Andy 📹 👍
Cheers Adzey. I do love living close to the coast, I find these waves mesmerising, it if wasn't so cold I could have watched them for hours.
@OutandaboutwithAndy Definitely mate 👌
Hi Andy, it was so lovely and relaxing watching and listening to the waves crashing on the shore. A beautiful sky too. Thanks for sharing 🌊🌊
Thanks Julie and Lucy. I do love living close to the coast.
Hi Andy, Jill here 🙋🏻♀️ this was nice watching and listening to the waves! We always like catching them Scarborough high tide! Learnt something new with this, was questioning why you called it a Spring tide when spring doesn’t start till 20th March and low and behold this means something very different 😂 a high tide that occurs when the Sun, Moon, and Earth are aligned, causing the gravitational pull on Earth's water to increase! Superb 👌
Every day is an education Jill. I only found that out last year when we watched the January spring tide. When I was at College as a student in landlocked Northampton I really missed the sea. I don't think I'd like to live too far inland. Cheers for watching.
WOW! Those waves are incredible!! SO Powerful. What Epic waves! Thank you for filming and sharing with us. -Jim & Michelle
Thanks for watching Jim and Michelle. It is much appreciated.

Hello from Naples, Florida. Wow! That is really something to see. Thanks for sharing with us, Happy New Year 👍 💯 ❤
@@FloridaFlipFlops Happy New Year, I hope you're safe and well in Florida.
Stunning footage Andy 👌❤️
Thanks, Phil. Another day I wished I had more time, a camera and left the Mrs at home 😉.
Amazing 😮 thank you for sharing. I was on Seaham hall beach this day with my dogs and the waves were huge. Feel so blessed to live here ❤
It's a great place to live or just visit.
Nature is so powerful at times. Spring tides are often quite dramatic. Enjoyed by Millionaire Paul 👌
Thanks Paul, it was a shame high tide fell after dark as I'd have liked to have seen them at full height.
Mesmerising isn't it?...i could stand and watch this all day.
Definitely Stephen, the Mrs wasn't so keen to stand out in the cold to watch the waves for some reason🙄
Hi there 😊. Found your channel through Millionaire Paul and thought I'd connect 😊.
Great footage here!! The power of the sea, hey??
Fabulous to watch! Thanks for sharing! 😊
@@casamadhousedogsandcats thanks for watching and popping over from MP.
Morning Andy
Happy New Year
Stunning footage
Love watching and hearing the waves crashing in, it's just so relaxing.
Looking forward to following your adventures in 2025.
Have a great day ❤
@morgsjoboo2247 Thanks again for watching guys.
Hopefully, 2025 will be a great year for everyone 🙏.
This is so relaxing to watch. Great capture 😊❤. Very much enjoyed listening to the waves 🌊
Thanks guys, with the nice late afternoon light it looked very pretty in a brutal kind of way.
Hey Andy 😊 always relaxing watching and listening to the waves. There were some descent waves there splashing over the wall.
@yasminshikingmission I love watching the sea, Yasmin. Those waves were great, but with the promise of them getting bigger at high tide, shame that was after sunset. Cheers for watching.
It's beautiful to see the waves crashing up against the sea wall there! Lovely little lighthouse out there! Great footage! 😊
Thanks DL. We often get good waves here during storms but on a Spring Tide it can be calm like this and still capture some impressive waves.
Very impressive sea wall action, The wind & waves to be brave!
Hi Sharon, thanks for watching, it's alway impressive watching the waves crash over the sea wall.
Lovely looking sky and I could sit and watch the tide coming in all day like that, as long as there was a good bench and I had a warm coat on. wonder why they call it a Spring tide, given we are still in winter.....cheers Alan
Every lunar cycle you have a Spring tide and a Neep tide - Spring is the tide where the waves are the highest and the Neep is when the waves are at the lowest. Interesting stuff eh? Last year the high tide was at 11am so I was sat with a coffee watching that, sadly not this year, the shops were closing up. I reckon you'd need your heated jacket on this year! Cheers for watching Alan.
Please tell me you managed to bring the camera along this time Andy !! Stunning conditions to grab some dramatic images down there !
Sorry Andrew, the Mrs had me shopping, it was only when she suggested going to the Travel Agent on the Marina, I took the opportunity to film this. I knew it was spring tide but was disappointed to find high tide was after sunset. Otherwise, I'd have been there with the camera. I do believe there is another soon, but likely, I'll be at work. Cheers for watching.
I could watch the sea for hours; it's mesmerising. We're back home now, but we did take Mam to Crimdon yesterday 🌊
Isn't it just Ellie. I hope Martyn's Mum liked her jumper, do you think she'll grow into it ;) I hope you had a good catch up with her. I've not been to Crimdon for years although I did walk along Blackhall Beach the other week.
@OutandaboutwithAndy There's a small cafe overlooking Crimdon beach which mam likes.
They look like the Kin😊g Waves we get in Oregon, USA.
Thanks for watching and commenting 🙂
Great drama in the sea there. I take it you weren't tempted to have a dip. 😂 Keith
Thanks Keith, no I stayed on dry land although we did see a young lad and his grandad get caught out by a wave and got a soaking! I'll leave the surfers to the big waves! Cheers for watching.
Nice video 👍
Thanks for watching 👍
Just a gentle swell eh Andrew?
@johnwalton7171 it's been worse but this was still an hour off high tide!
