Pioneering Sustainability: Highlights from the Sustainable Subsea Networks at SN EMEA 2024 in London

At the 2024 Submarine Networks EMEA in London, some members of SubOptic’s Global Citizen Working Group and Sustainable Subsea Networks Advisory Board-Nicole Starosielski (UC Berkeley), Emmanuel Danjou (ASN), Vedrana Stojanac (Ciena), René d'Avezac de Moran (OMS Group), and Bobby Melville (Oceanic Environmental Cables)-showcased the latest initiatives in the second phase of the Sustainable Subsea Networks (SSN) project, an initiative of the SubOptic Foundation funded by the Internet Society Foundation. Their discussion covered SSN’s key projects aimed at advancing sustainability across subsea infrastructure through collaborative research and innovative solutions, as well as ongoing recommendations that will be previewed in SubOptic 2025 in Lisbon, Portugal.
