    Just one of these tips is worth a single video. Gary is an absolute star and so very generous. In large part also the inspiration for me to switch from Windows to Apple.

    Hey Gary: You teach more ideas in 15 minutes that many hours-long seminars I have attended. And of course with pause and replay, anyone in your audience can let it all sink in. Thanks again.

      I agree, I just wish he would reduce the frequency of videos, as i would like to watch every one but they come in so quick I end up missing them for several weeks. Simply information overload.

      What a piss poor effort by Apple! This App is not yet half finished. I am really surprised Apple would release such a product. Shapes does not “straighten automatically”, difficult to type. Hard to take notes with pencil. Maybe they will approve it next year. This is a piece of sh*t right now

    • @CBCMI

      I play it back at 75% to keep up. It sounds more normal. I wonder if he’s speeding it up 25%?

    • @PaulM_aka_4c21
      @PaulM_aka_4c21 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@CBCMI sorry didn’t make myself clear, videos are perfect but most other channels only release 1 or maximum 2 videos a week. Releasing every day is impossible to keep up with if you watch many other channels.

      Far from perfect. Messy, unorganized, using the pencil is difficult. I hope they make it better but for now, it is unusable

    One of the many things that makes this video so helpful is how you move back and forth between Mac and iPadOS to show us how the same thing is done on both devices. Thank you for doing it that way.

    This is a great video Gary! An interesting point to make is that many of the features in Freeform are also available in Pages, Keynote and especially Numbers, which provides and infinite canvas and, of course, gives you the ability to have full featured tables. Virtually everything you pointed out in this video applies to the other apps!

    Nicely done, thanks! I wonder how long it will take to get some functionality for floor plans and similar layouts. Not a full CAD setup necessarily, but with some basic dimensional and object-joining features that DIY’ers could use without installing expensive or questionable software. That would be cool.

    I haven't had a chance to test it extensively, but the Free Form app synchronizes faster (almost real-time) across devices than, for example, the Notes app. Is this true, or is it just wishful thinking? If so, it would be useful for the scenario you mentioned at the end of your video and for quickly drawing diagrams on an iPad during a Zoom/Teams/Google call while connected to the call on the Mac.

    Relating to the final idea around modifying the canvas on the ipad while simultaneously viewing it on the mac or elsewhere - I use the ipad by holding it in a landscape orientation, but then everything appears sideways when viewing it on the Mac... I can't find any way to change the orientation of the canvas on the mac...
    Can you think of any way around this? I think the only thing I can do is just the ipad vertically, which is really annoying and would make me not want to use it

    The easier way to match the size of a shape on iPad is to select the shape you want to resize, then while using one of the corners to scale it, tap the other shape you want it to resize to. Needless to say you might need two hands to use that shortcut and it doesn't work with the Pencil. You can even resize two different shapes so that they are the same dimensions in both width and height.
