They really need way more space than people think, those little cages they sell are not enough for them. To be honest I wish they would stop selling them at vacation spots because most people don’t provide them happy lives 😢. I can tell you are a kind person so I just wanted to encourage you to look up hermit crab care so they can live a happy life 😊 Enjoy your vacation. BTW I love the bedroom you are filming in it is so pretty 🩷 This is from the post I read : A friendly PSA about hermit crabs because of the upcoming carnivals: they are notoriously one of the most abused and neglected pets because people do not educate themselves! They are advertised as an *easy beginner* pet but they are anything but that. They require very specific temperature and humidity levels and complex diets! They also require 6-8 inches of sand to burrow and tunnel and properly molt, both salt water and fresh water pools deep enough to submerge in, and plenty of enrichment such as things to climb on and AT LEAST 10 gallons of space per crab. Painted shells are toxic to them, wire metal mesh cages are toxic to them and it’s impossible to maintain temperature and humidity, water sponges are toxic and harbor bacteria. If you or your child are interested in bringing one home from the carnival, just be aware that they’ve already gone through a lot of stress and are already slowly dying because of the inhumane conditions they are always kept in. Please please please educate yourselves and know that these tiny creatures deserve the best care also!!! It is a very expensive hobby to start up!!

We use to go to Perido Key and we loved it. And I lived in Florida for a year and hated it. But we live in Illinois and have the change of seasons and missed it. And yes believe it or not you get use to the ocean. But it’s fun on vacation. Love that. But not year around. Have fun 😊

Hi from Burleson, TX. Just wanted to tell you I swam at Destin Beach in the early 1950’s. Dad was stationed at Eglin AFB, I was born there. I think we returned to TX in 1954 after his discharge. Lived a while in Commerce, dad went to college. Then we finally settled in the FTW area. Now early 70’s (cough-cough) & my husband and I settled in Burleson after retirement. If you read this before coming home, have a safe trip.
And thank you so much we live super close to Burlington I love it up there I wish we lived up in Burleson but I have lived in my area all of my life it's so hard to change

With hermi crabs you have to have some sand or fine gravel at bottom so they can dig, and food especially made for them also they need access to next size up shells as they shed their outer body shell. I would recommend you get a book on looking after them as they are not as easy as you may think. We had a 2 metre tank six hermit crabs with over head light. They like it to be kept like a fish tank without the water. But giving them a bathing dish is good.
