Very cool. I would have not even thought of this combination. But I already did understand the EQ vs Harmonics thing. This is a really great trick. I think that it can be used on "Pure" bass tracks............
WOW Thanx Gregor. Now I understand why I like the top end I get from using saturation over using the EQ. And this just came in handy for a percussion loop I'm using from an old cassette tape of my old band from the early 80s. It's very thin with mainly only the top end, but I really was needing some of the upper lows to round out the Congas. Using the method you just demonstrated with Redlight Dist, I got just what I needed and there are other tools within that plugin I was able to use to dial in the sound I was truly looking for. You've done it once again Gregor my man! GREGOR FOR PRESIDENT!
I've started using saturation a lot instead of compression lately. I found it's much better at reducing dynamic range of individual sounds and thickening them up. It's very good for weak, flimsy sounds. Whereas a compressor would be better suited for dynamics create through live playing and variations in velocity over time.
Is there more of a pure "saturator" in Studio 1 FX? I was supposed to download the free BPB saturator for a project - but it won't work... Then I thought - I bet Studio1 has a similar plugin available - No?? I would like to use a "Tube" and a Tape" saturation on the entire mix on my project... Thank You Gregor!
You the man Gregor! Big love, from beginner to flying around Studio one in no time thanks to your videos. Love it, keep them coming.❤

How did you get that window in the effects tab to show all the plugins you have but not in a column?
Hi, there is a button at the top right of the Effects Browser to toggle gallery / tree view. -GBY

Gotta give that red light distortion a go. Hopefully the knobs have midi learn.
Of course! All parameters can be mapped via midi learn / control link in Studio One. :) -GBY
