Luke really seems to make the job go easier. Good bit of work there, watch that rope! I agree 100% it might need to be repurposed into tie strings. Be safe and I'm looking forward to seeing your content in 2025!
@@WoodrowMcCall I've never had this much problem with one of these cottons. But this one just will not act right. It's on my list to get another, ASAP. Happy new years Woodrow!
Could that untreated cotton be affected by cold weather with some humidity? It looks stiff. My guess, you could use barb wire to get the job done. Nice job.
Great video . I have no experience with cotton ropes but could it be acting up because of the weather ? Cold and dry? I know riatas act different at different times of the year.
@@vaquero7072 typically, cotton ropes feel the best when they're dry. They get stiff and kinky when they get wet. That's part of why treating them with boiled linseed oil is my preferred method, it makes them a little tolerant towards moisture. This one almost feels like the twist of the rope is too tight. What do you rope with?
That’s good to know thanks for sharing. I watched your video on treating your rope that was some good info . I’m not a full time cowboy and I’m not a great roper but I’ve used riatas in the summer and polys and nylon in the winter right now I have a nylon rope. I’ve busted quite a few riatas because of not letting my dallys slip lol but they are fun to rope with. I’d say I’m still learning .After watching your videos I was thinking of trying a cotton rope.
@vaquero7072 let me know how you like them! Remember they get better the more they get used. Once the weather here breaks and is right, I'll show myself treating them with linseed oil, or painting one.
Great work Brother.
Luke is a diamond and that saddle is beautiful.

@@ShelbyK-o9y it acted that same way back in September at the Knott Creek, when it was hot and dry.
Miserable thing haha

No, Alkalai weed isn't sharp. It's just very tough.
What kind of rope is that?
@@jessepitt untreated cotton, I'm not getting along with this one as well as I usually do. I normally love them once they are broke in.

@jessepitt check out my video on how to treat them. I talk quite a bit about em.

Do you use polly ropes ?
@@melvinmandel2165 No, I really like how polys feel, but they don't last long enough to justify paying for them.
