      It used to be my favourite hobby, but I can’t get my head around Genesis 1-11…… Christians say the earth is 6000 years old but it’s been scientifically proven to be 4.5 billion years old….
      And it’s also been proven that we lived alongside Neanderthals 100,000 years ago, which means death and suffering came into the world before Adam and Eve…
      Sorry for rambling; I have a lot to think about and pray about…
      God bless you ❤

      @@lavieenrose5954 I have thought of this too, I ultimately just accept that there are things about the origins of the earth that even though I may not understand, I’m not necessarily meant to. The idea that god created the earth and mankind is already amazing enough for me. I find with the evidence of Jesus and the old and new testaments having as much correlation and fulfilled prophesy as they do, is “proof enough” for me to undoubtably and comfortably put my faith in Jesus. This is aside from the personal experiences I have had through a relationship with Christ. I love looking into the topic of young vs. Old earth however I think it’s more of a thought experiment and less detrimental to my faith. I think there is evidence from scientists on both sides and it would be interesting to learn more on the topic for sure! It would also be cool if Mike made a video looking into this. However I’m not sure if anyone could have the time to fully look in the vast topic. Prayer is key! Amen to that

    The Apocrypha was printed in the King James Bible and is part of the lectionary for Lutherans, Anglicans, Orthodox, Coptic and every Church up until 1600. They were not canonized but seen as valuable. Understanding books such as the Maccabees gives much needed background to the era Jesus walked on earth.

    • @alexandremuise8889
      @alexandremuise8889 19 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา +8

      Even the Roman Catholic Church still calls them Deutero-Canonical, in their own section (same as Minor Prophets, Major Prophets, Poetry etc) of the OT.
      these books have been in open debate ever since the Exile into Babylon, throughout the time of Jesus' ministry as well as among the Early Fathers of the Church (Jerome, Origen).
      1 and 2 Macabees are great for historical context leading up to the times of Jesus' life, as well as one of the Minor Holidays of Judaism; Hanukah.
      Like Luther and all other Reformers said; "they may not be Scripturally Authoritative to the Faith, but still valid in edification"

    • @AVKingJamesBible
      @AVKingJamesBible 16 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา

      The apocrypha is NOT Scripture. It contains many errors. It contradicts actual Scripture. It even contradicts itself. It was NEVER affirmed as Scripture by the ancient Jews. It was NEVER affirmed as Scripture by Jesus. And it was NEVER affirmed as Scripture by any of His Apostles. NOT EVER! Heck it wasn’t even officially recognized by the apostate Roman Catholic Church until the 16th century.
      It is NOT Scripture. Side note, the translators of the King James were forced to include the apocrypha, but they made it absolutely clear that it WAS NOT Scripture.

    • @aaronking9332
      @aaronking9332 11 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา +3

      @@alexandremuise8889 it's not in its own section, it's interspersed throughout the mid to later books of the Old Testament. I do believe it's authoritative scripture but wouldn't use it as a persuasive argument with a protestant brother obviously. They were included in the Greek translation of the Old testament books which was what was in synagogues at the time of Jesus (the Septuagint).

    Please don't be concerned about sounding scattered. The things you are teaching here are very deep but all are connected and related. As a pastor I sometimes feel left out on Sunday as the one doing the bulk of the teaching but God is using your ministry to help me. I find the depth of your teaching very helpful and look forward to the continued series. Some of the things that you teach as you point out yourself are skipped over and missed by many commentaries and as such you are filling a gap that I wholeheartedly believe God has called you to fill. Just know that God is using you to help uplift and lead at least one fellow minister to a greater understanding of the scripture.I am very greatful to have found your ministry.

    Thank-you for taking so much time to show the glories of Christ as the agent of Creation, and to connect the various NT Scriptures that speak about it! There has been recent interest in the Apostle's creed and Nicene creed on other channels, and so far, I've not seen much discussion on how short the Christology of those creeds fall when they call the Father "maker of heaven and earth" without equally exalting the Son in that role. In Revelation 5 it is a point of worship around His throne, and your rich descriptions of the Scriptural position were pointing strongly toward that even though (I think) you didn't reference that passage in this episode.

    My favorite verse(1:1-4 is also so powerful and tells us clearly who Jesus really is!):

    When speaking of what is cannon and apocrypha for biblical text, one of the things I find so incredibly amazingly beautiful is that the Mosaic tabernacle was laid out in the form of a cross, and if you were to consider a man on that cross, at the right hand would be the candlestick that has 22 bowls, 22 knops, and 22 flowers comprising a total of 66 parts. The Light of the Word, the Light of the World, at the right hand. There are so many minute and massive fractalized spiritual patterns laid out for us...
    And yet the concept of Christianity is so incredibly simple a child can understand it. It is so deep and wide that we could spend eternity walking through and exploring the layers and beautiful patterns that are found within the Word, our savior, the LORD Jesus Christ.
    Blessings my brothers and sisters in Him!

    Hey Mike! I love watching your videos! I have a question that you could do in a Friday video or that you could do an entire video on! I saw a comment on youtube recently that claimed that Jesus was only claimed to be Son of God/God himself, in John, and then in the afterward 300 years. I was really hoping you could talk about this and how to counter it if people come across the argument. (To be fair though, the guy really seemed like he was just trying to make excuses and didn't want to believe, even when old testiment things were quoted.)

    Great insight as always. I was challenged with this the other day and this person connected 1 Corinthians 1:24 (Jesus is the wisdom of god) to proverbs 8 say he was just the word before the incarnate but still believes he is eternal.
    What book do you recommend that gives an exhaustive christology?

    Correction. They are no “extra” books. They are the original books of the Holy Bible. However, Thank you for the Bible study.❤

      Agreed and factual. It would benefit the masses to study the history of canons.

      The Apocryphal books included in RCC Bibles were part of the Septuagint even before Christ's birth.
      The reason most protestants don't count them as Scripture is because they were never included in the Hebrew Scriptures - our Old Testament.

    Greatly enjoyed this. I’m the next video will you go into the Angel of Yahweh passages since you will be contrasting Christ with the Angels? Also, will you at some point go into the Memra and how it corresponds to the Word of JN and how Jesus is being presented in Hebrews? Thanks.

    Q: Can you elaborate for your choosing to state that Hebrews alludes to the Wisdom of Solomon vs the Wisdom... alluding to Hebrews? Was one written before the other or are they written at the same time?
    Thank you in advance for your response. May God continue to bless your study and teaching.

    Do you believe that Sin is an action or actions….. or something within us, due to Paul saying “ITS no longer me, but Sin living in me ? ??

    • @RedeemedMusicanOfGod
      @RedeemedMusicanOfGod 6 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา +1

      Two ways. We all commit sin, by doing things that God has told us not to do. However, since it’s also something within us due to all human saying through Adam and Eve. That’s a short answer. I’m not a theologian so I can’t explain it very clearly.

    Paul makes an allegorical point referring to the cretans. NT authors often don't completely quote OT. Partial quotes, allusions, citations, mashups.
    Sirach, Tobit and Judith were all in Hebrew

    Just shared the mark5:19 telling as how we as individuals can serve in this returning season for our nation! We can't all move to Washington DC and be part of the president 's vision for restoring but we can align ourselves with Matthew. 5 and the vision of our Lord to be reconciled to forgive to live at peace with all people. As far as it is possible with us to give testimony to the remaking the restoring of our souls through the holy Spirit through redemption
