    I built a 223 bolt gun. It currently is my most accurate rifle I own. With handloads I put 5 shots inside a dime at 100 yards. I love me some 223

    I love the thought of 223. I have a Christensen ca15-g2 full carbon. But even with perfect shot placement on a coyote with 53g vmax seems like they still like to run off sometimes. I’d look into the different barrel rifling types if your not already familiar. (button rifled, cold hammer forged, cut rifled).The reason a Christensen barrel would not be my first choice is because they button rifle their barrels. I’ve seen a lot of button rifled barrels that shoot awesome but there is a higher possibility for inconsistency in a button rifled barrel vs. a cut rifled barrel.

    There are a lot of hard feelings floating around the interwebs about Christensen. Seems like a lot of lemons come out of their shop if you read enough forums. I invested in their MPR platform in 300PRC - it could barely hold 3 MOA with any ammo it was fed. Christensen replaced barrel and just got it back. On the other hand I have a gas gun from them that holds .75-1" with quality ammunition. I don't think there are any more Christensen products in my future.

      First find the chassis you want then all you need to know is if you have a short action or long action, typically when choosing a chassis it will ask what manufacturer you have and what action and what caliber, after that it’s easy man, if you aren’t very experienced in doing a install then look on TH-cam or go ask your local gunsmith, usually any gun store and do a simple install like that but I promise it’s very easy to do.

    • @kirkmartin2223
      @kirkmartin2223 ปีที่แล้ว

      Why spend the extra time and money to shoot subsonic .223rem when you can shoot 22lr subs for a 10th of the price and have a bullet that will actually work at those subsonic velocities.
      Caliber is the same...
      Bullet weight is close to the same on the 223rem subs I've seen.
      Velocity is the same...
      Energy on target is going to be close to the same.
      That's like shooting subsonic 308win vs 300blk. 190gr .308" bullets moving 1050fps is the same weather you shoot it from a 300blk or 308win or 300rum. .223rem subsonic is possibly the worst "cartridge" ever designed. Finding the right power to get enough case fill in a subsonic 223rem to not have squib loads is a big challenge.

    Christensen has had a lot of quality control issues and in their carbon barrels there seemed to be a trend of the carbon barrels being inconsistent with many people. Me being one of them had the MPR in 300wm and was the worst rifle i have ever owned. I know people that own them in a few calibers and they haven't had issues but for me and others that spent a lot of money on something that wouldn't out shoot an ak47 it left a bad taste and i will not be giving them any of my business when theres many reputable offerings available
