Thanks for the closeups of the hilt/handle. Good to see what it might look like in the hand.

I ordered myself a Dorothea Dussack a month ago from Landsknecht Emporium and I am really looking forward to it arriving sometime in 2021. Mine will be sharpened, though, an I am told will have a reinforced tip and a stiffer blade.

The two prototypes I got have a smoother thumb ring. I'll try to get some pics later to show. I'm wondering if it's because I told them I'd be wearing a lighter glove using it they did that. My guard is also a lot closer to the hand. However, as everyone who used my ones said they wanted heavier gloves I'm sure that's why they extended it

i had to do a ton of file work on some blackfencer pieces
my landsknecht Emporium messer got a ding in shipping i touched up but otherwise i didn't need to do anything to it besides i wanted to refine the cutting edge just a bit nicer
this piece seems so complex in the hilt i understand some rough spots simply to cut costs and get it shipped without having to charge more for the time to make it smooth and good looking
for the price its sturdy and of excellent quality i wouldn't mind a bit of file work and buffing

In german language countries, a descendant of this weapon is still in ceremonial use: The Hirschfänger.

Thanks for the review. I am trying to teach myself some European Martial Arts, and am starting with Meyer's Dussack. I am considering getting a Dorothea from Landsknecht Emporium. Any updates on it since you've had it a few days? Or is it still a good buy?

I’m a bit late to this party but I’m a couple months into my wait on one of these from Landskencht Emporium along with the Gottfried sharp with knuckle bow, walnut scales, and curved pommel

do you find you have better control with your thumb bent around the hilt or pointing forward?
Or, does the weapon determine the choice?

It would be good if you gave a bit more history of these swords for those of us who don't study Hema ?

Does it have a false edge/ back edge on the yelmen part?

Off topic: do you know why historical fencers don't mind a bruise?
Of course they don't, it's a HEMAtoma, that's part of the deal :P
