From someone with kids that dominate such a huge amount of time, you guys will never forget this trip. Life gets mental and sometimes prevents you from doing such outlandish challenges but the ones you do get to, you’ll never forget. Thanks for bringing us along for the ride.
That look on Lawrence' face telling him, how long it will take you to leave desert... Priceless Can't believe the number of punctures you're pickin up... Have fun, guys 🤙
just can imagine, or even can't imagine, how hard it is to ride under those conditions and still find time to edit. Much appreciated, Francis, your videos are epic.
I think it's brilliant that you are focusing on your interactions with each other rather than on the scenery etc. It makes it compelling viewing. Plus its really well edited, which helps.
I know the heat is a beast because I have never seen you guys exhausted. Lawrence facial expression was priceless when you told him another 3 days before you leave the desert lol.
I totally envy you three guys to have the guts to ride an epic bike trip. I wish I was able to meet you guys in person when you were in my beautiful town of San Diego. Love all of you videos with perfect edits, so professional and clean looking. Also, your videos have inspired me to finally get a road/gravel bike. Always have been a mountain bike guy. Have a safe rest of your trip.
You're going to love the next part of the trip. Yosemite is breathtaking!! Netflix "Valley Uprising" if you want to see a cool movie about some of the shenanigans from the parks history. It's an easy watch...Love the videos!!!
Just fantastic videos. It’s like they just keep getting better. Do they sell sunscreen in the UK? I know you guys don’t get much sun over there but look for Bullfrog gel. Lifesaver.
Pick some zinc oxide sun cream up when you get a chance, it might look stupid but it blocks all UAV and UVB light. Used it on every ride across Australia (ears, nose, cheek bones, neck and on top of my hands - they got horrendously burnt on the first day)
Have eagerly awaited each and every one of these vlogs each day. Great to watch lawerence's too for a different perspective of the same journey. Keep slogging along guys.
Great video as usual. Cheers for the daily fix. You guys should really buy some tubeless wheels...or even convert the wheels you have to tubeless. You guys are having shocking luck!
I ride roads like this quite a bit, was going through about a tube per 50 miles. Went tubeless and with about 600 miles on the setup haven't had anything the goo couldn't seal.
The blisters, have sweat in them (sunburn + exercise). They are a trip when you feel them, and pop them, like bubble wrap. Nothing to be concerned about.
Hey looking good so far, just stay hydrated and for god sake Lawrence sun screen helps, however because you are so pasty white you need spy 100, and the key to getting through the desert is starting early in the morning before the sun come up however you are going to need lights on your bikes to do this, in order to stay safe.
advice (too late, I accept) from a Londoner who lives in Australia: white tops that are UV proof, with white arm covers (Lycra) and regular factor 50 reapplications.
Tell James to buy some saline nasal spray from a drugstore off the shelf. It will help keep his nasal passages moisturized and help with the nose bleeds. Also buy some lip balm with at least a SPF of 30, sun can be brutal on the lips when it's dry.
you guys do an excellent job on my recovery of the past mortirolo climb at 32° c... :) plus your packing best practices are quite valuable! lawrence, try to already start the packing procedure the night before - otherwise a 4am wake up won't lead to a 4.30am leaving... ;)
Quality vlog as always! Loving the 2 views of your trip! Question: Isn't it worth trialing some sealant in your tubes (i have seen this done before and they said it worked quite well). Not going to hurt hey?
Loving both channels this week. As an Australian I can say you really need SPF 50+ for Uv protection. How does the heat compare to Adelaide from the beginning of the year?
This is compulsive viewing, you three are mad but why not if you can, seriously this would make a great documentary, I'm hooked and look forward to every upload. Stay safe out there
Good to see you through my old hood, that ride out of Vegas in the heat is a shocker. You will be in my neck of the woods north of SF is a few days. Good riding fellas.
Francis get some liver salts and iodised table salt and put a teaspoon mixed into your bottles then get some bananas in for potassium. I swear it stops the cramps and fatigue away. Don't sweat out too much of those salts you can knock yourselves up.badly. I get some hydralyte sachets but I find the diy mix pretty effective.
Joe Slater Same here I ride before sun up or at dawn.in Oz. In the odd chance I get caught out I make sure I.have two bottles and a camelbak. Yes my mtb kit goes road when.it's super hot.
glenny Yeah. Best to be out of the heat when its that bad. I used to play cricket, all summer, some times twice on the weekends and 4 to 6 hours at a time in sometimes 40 degree heat. I dont know how on earth I did it or why I thought it was a good idea.
When you’re in the desert use salene in liquid form from the pharmacy store. It’s amamazing when your sinuses are in need. Someone give the ginger some sunblock. Lol love the vids fellas
The gear is tough.when you don't live Day to day year to year in it, likewise in the cooler regions. Probably best to do these rides.in the cooler seasons if you're from.Europe
Really inspiring vids Francis. Made me plan a 5 day route myself (never done that before)! Nothing near as epic as this, but its a start :) Question: Meeting up with VC (Vegan Cyclist) when in Yosemite? Keep it up lads!
Cheat and fedex heavy stuff to your next stop! Replace heavy stuff with water. Pity it wouldn't be aero or safe to wack a sunshade on your bike / helmet
What did y'all expect? Dropping 15° of latitude in the beginning of summer. Get some summer buffs to protect y'all's necks/faces at least. Summer arm and leg sleeves exist as well and I'd recommend them. Apologies for not mentioning them before now.
You all will become different people when this trip is over . This is a bit of a hack and alittle late but if you cut some Duct tape about an inch wide and line the inside of your tires you will cut down on your flats . When you go through the valley there will be places to stop but wait till you get to Artist Dr .You will see colors that will be mind blowing and definitely hubbling like was mentioned . With sunrise equally beautiful being you said you are leaving early morning . Good luck and see you on the other side ..
So I just got to Las Vegas, and my first thought was, why wouldn't you wait until winter? This is ridiculous. Then James' comment at the end... I don't know how you're doing it.
I would never do that this time of the year. I've ridden in AZ middle of summer, and wasn't "that" bad, but I'm used to dealing with the heat and humidity of S. Florida. 108 in the middle of summer in AZ felt cooler than 90deg in S. Florida. That said, still wouldn't do that.
You guys are killing it. Glad you can keep your spirits up. Hope you do this trip again someday but do the coastal route. Its a totally different type of beauty. I think the deserts beauty is best experienced by car.
You’re the only people I know of that would attempt to ride through Death Valley this time of year. It’s really dangerous. Hyperthermia can set in before you know what’s happening! If you’re really going to do this it would be best to ride at night and sleep during the day. By the way, rattlesnakes come out at night. It’s too hot during the day for them! It’s too hot for you too!!!
From someone with kids that dominate such a huge amount of time, you guys will never forget this trip. Life gets mental and sometimes prevents you from doing such outlandish challenges but the ones you do get to, you’ll never forget. Thanks for bringing us along for the ride.
I second that message. Couldn't have said it better than you!
Definitely! I’m just waiting for mine to get to an age where I can co-opt them into long rides!
That look on Lawrence' face telling him, how long it will take you to leave desert... Priceless
Can't believe the number of punctures you're pickin up...
Have fun, guys 🤙
Just can't get enough of this...you guys are redefining epic
just can imagine, or even can't imagine, how hard it is to ride under those conditions and still find time to edit. Much appreciated, Francis, your videos are epic.
James is my favorite character please retain him for season two!
I love that you guys can keep your sense of humor during some of the ordeals you're having to endure! Keep cool out there guys!
My pre work Cade fix!!! Brilliant stuff again!! Love this!!
I would love to have friends who share my passion for cycling like you guys have.
Stellar work Fellas! Hope the early morning worked out well for you.
I totally envy you three guys to have the guts to ride an epic bike trip. I wish I was able to meet you guys in person when you were in my beautiful town of San Diego. Was just going to watch one of these videos. Now I'm binging them. Learning a lot about preparing for long rides and hydrating. Fascinating
You should cover up exposed skin in that heat. Like UV covers and neck tubes. Temperatures look insane!!!
Wonderful series Francis, thank you very much
Pick some zinc oxide sun cream up when you get a chance, it might look stupid but it blocks all UAV and UVB light. Used it on every ride across Australia (ears, nose, cheek bones, neck and on top of my hands - they got horrendously burnt on the first day)
Just so good....you guys are getting punchy...too much heat...very funny on camera thanks so much...jealous of you guys
Proud of you guys. It looks very hot indeed, but you are having fun because you are true mates!
Have eagerly awaited each and every one of these vlogs each day. Great to watch lawerence's too for a different perspective of the same journey. Keep slogging along guys.
Off to the Surrey Hills I go! Just had a interview, so finished the day early. Time for a cycle.
Great video as usual. Cheers for the daily fix.

thanks again for everything can't wait to see you guys outa the dessert and in normal conditions again
🙏🙏
Thank you for this adventure Francis. Living vicariously through you three is awesome. 🍻

#badAss, december would be better indeed! That being said, this is an awesome effort by all three of you, my hat is off!

Well done, guys. (Grab some good sun block).
Great video, Francis.
after a run of flats, switched to Michelin Power 700 x 25 with FOSS self repairing tubes-NO flats in 6 months-Truly awesome combo.
you guys do an excellent job on my recovery of the past mortirolo climb at 32° c... :) plus your packing best practices are quite valuable! lawrence, try to already start the packing procedure the night before - otherwise a 4am wake up won't lead to a 4.30am leaving... ;)
Sweet Princess Bride reference, yo. Inconceivable, even!
Got notification of this video during lecture. Temptation to watch this was REAL!
Quality vlog as always! Loving the 2 views of your trip! Question: Isn't it worth trialing some sealant in your tubes (i have seen this done before and they said it worked quite well). Not going to hurt hey?
Luckily the morale still high. You’re doing great, this will be an epic achievement
Loving both channels this week. As an Australian I can say you really need SPF 50+ for Uv protection. How does the heat compare to Adelaide from the beginning of the year?
It's hotter than adelaide in the middle of the day for sure.
This is compulsive viewing, you three are mad but why not if you can, seriously this would make a great documentary, I'm hooked and look forward to every upload. Stay safe out there
Thanks Mark!
you guys are crazy for riding through the desert in the summer.
Love you guys! Eat enough! Drink more than you want to!! Hang in there. Yosemite should be cooler and much more beautiful!
Lawrence's face at 3.30 :)
You and your ride though guys - beyond epic!
'This' anagram for 'Shit'. Nice work Francis. :)
All three of you tough as old nails!!
Good to see you through my old hood, that ride out of Vegas in the heat is a shocker. You will be in my neck of the woods north of SF is a few days. Good riding fellas.
Doing good Francis, heat must be a mare. Keep it up, ride safe 🙂
These videos are so epic!
You guys are doing a great job. BTW, what is the make and model of James' helmet?
Princess Bride lol!! #MovieReferenceJames
Keep on rolling gents, you guys are killing it 👊
Ally M. These two are too young to have seen it - I’m glad someone appreciated it! X
James Thomas keep em coming! 👍
We have a big bag of full electrolyte powder!
Lovin' the Project USA vlogs!!!!
Living in Australia I barely set foot outdoors when it gets above 40 degrees. Also, avoid walking near long grass. Best of luck boys.
Joe Slater Same here I ride before sun up or at dawn.in Oz. In the odd chance I get caught out I make sure I.have two bottles and a camelbak. Yes my mtb kit goes road when.it's super hot.

you guys are absolute legends
Best road Trip ever .
It was nice knowing you guys.
Your kits look coll thanks for the offering but the helmet for one dosent ship to US, bummer
Like a BOSS. Yo 👊
The gear is tough.when you don't live Day to day year to year in it, likewise in the cooler regions. Probably best to do these rides.in the cooler seasons if you're from.Europe
tell me you not using vittoria rubino ?
You guys bounce off each other so well. Very entertaining! Question for James, what's the helmet he's using? Looks great.👍☀️☀️☀️
KASK Mojito
I think watching this is better than actually being there ;-)
agreed!!!!
James the skeletor. When the sun shines on your face you can see your cheekbones jutting out, make sure James drinks some beer. Pmsl
Keep it up chaps. Maybe see you in Yosemite.
Loving these vids 👍 kudos chaps
Really inspiring vids Francis. Made me plan a 5 day route myself (never done that before)! Nothing near as epic as this, but its a start :) Question: Meeting up with VC (Vegan Cyclist) when in Yosemite? Keep it up lads!
yes just saw on VC's instagram that VC is hosting the boys for a couple of days
Michael Glidewell Great! Thanks for the update :)
that spotty t shirt James wears looks like a hospital gown
Is the ability to do funny accents a side-effect of dehydration? Because James is severely dehydrated then
#Pray4LawrencesBack
Lawrence's comment about no vegetables in America is spot on. Eating healthy and eating out are almost mutually exclusive enterprises.
These last several days have made your other epic rides look like recovery rides. Good luck and be careful.
how much tubes do u need per day?
Are you gonna meet with Tyler?
Cheat and fedex heavy stuff to your next stop! Replace heavy stuff with water. Pity it wouldn't be aero or safe to wack a sunshade on your bike / helmet
You guys using any sunscreen lotion?
Factor 50
Where do u carry ur big laptops? Or hide?
sorry stopped the vid in between, got the answer later
What did y'all expect? Dropping 15° of latitude in the beginning of summer. Get some summer buffs to protect y'all's necks/faces at least. Summer arm and leg sleeves exist as well and I'd recommend them. Apologies for not mentioning them before now.
Loving Lozza’s facial tan lines 😂

wooooo!
All I want to do now is go on a bike tour. =D
How does the extreme extreme heat affect a laptop
Seems fine, couple of times even the air conditioned hotel rooms were a bit hot for video rendering though.
Kevin Cole I'd be taking a smaller laptop , like my ThinkPad 12".super light and i5 with enough grunt for editing.
Now looking back at your old videos to fill void since you and Justin finished.
Leaking the ribble
Should have picked up some tires with some puncture proofing.
Are you dropping in on the Vegan Cyclist if you're heading to Yosemite?
the vegan kid is busy doing commercials these days.
noch21Gramm Now now, be nice. I mentioned in a comment on that video but no need to be putting him down mate :)
Oh common guys, just tell us what titanium bike Laurence is riding......arrrrggghhhh!!!!!!!!
Ribble
So I just got to Las Vegas, and my first thought was, why wouldn't you wait until winter? This is ridiculous. Then James' comment at the end... I don't know how you're doing it.
Got to be the first time someone's done that route carrying two laptops...as James likes to say "that's BadAss man"
Holy shit! What happened to Lawrence’s helmet? I just noticed it looks fresh AF. When did that happen? I know I know I’m late, whatever.
Mate he's literally scratched this one up in the last two days, FFS
I would never do that this time of the year. I've ridden in AZ middle of summer, and wasn't "that" bad, but I'm used to dealing with the heat and humidity of S. Florida. 108 in the middle of summer in AZ felt cooler than 90deg in S. Florida.
That said, still wouldn't do that.
Buen biaje francis
Friggin desert hell .
Glad it only a sock James is putting up his nose..
You guys are killing it. Glad you can keep your spirits up. Hope you do this trip again someday but do the coastal route. Its a totally different type of beauty. I think the deserts beauty is best experienced by car.
i want that thing that you guys use to carry your cameras
what helmet is James wearing?!!?
Kask mojito I think
" I don't want to get food poisoning and then ride across bloody death valley."😂
🍼a bottle of man the fuck up for James 😂 great vlog
jay collins like to see you ride this chum
FACK the gaterade reference got me again xDDD
You’re the only people I know of that would attempt to ride through Death Valley this time of year. It’s really dangerous. Hyperthermia can set in before you know what’s happening!
