Here we are in this COVID Crisis now. I know it will pass, but when you feel like the loneliest person in the Worid, & nobody cares, something inside your soul awakens, you reflect on this journey of Life etc 🙂 And your spirit becomes stronger, & more resilient, & songs like this bring a healing.
Man I love this song so, so much. From the moment I heard it back then to forever. I'm crying in the bathroom with this on loop right now and my wife and kids will never know. I can't let them see me feeling the pressure even a little bit. This is one of few, maybe the only, definitely my go to, songs that really help me just get it out, reset and keep moving forward. It's so hard sometimes, this helps. Thank you for being you Metric ❤️ ✌🏻❤🇨🇦😜
When I was getting clean off of drugs and would get really bad anxiety/panic attacks, I would play this song on repeat….only thing that would honestly calm down.
Hope you are still doing ok. I have bad anxiety/panic attacks myself, and this along with Lazy Eye by Silversun Pickups, and I am the Highway by Audioslave are my go to that always help me.
I’ve watched Metric twice on their concerts back in Manila, Philippines and last was in Glasgow, Scotland, and I wont get tired of following and supporting them. Their music is superb.
This song came out my sophomore year of high school. I heard it on the radio the other day and it gave me the biggest dose of nostalgia and now I’ve had it on repeat. I love the memories connected with this song, but I’m excited to make many new and exciting memories rediscovering it again 😁
I tremble They're gonna eat me alive If I stumble They're gonna eat me alive Can you hear my heart Beating like a hammer Beating like a hammer Help I'm alive My heart keeps beating like a hammer Hard to be soft Tough to be tender Come take my pulse the pace is on a runaway train Help I'm alive My heart keeps beating like a hammer Beating like a hammer If you're still alive My regrets are few If my life is mine What shouldn't I do? I get wherever I'm going I get whatever I need While my blood's still flowing And my heart's still Beating like a hammer Beating like a hammer Help I'm alive My heart keeps beating like a hammer Hard to be soft Tough to be tender Come take my pulse the pace is on a runaway train Help I'm alive My heart keeps beating like a hammer Beating like a hammer If you're still alive My regrets are few If my life is mine What shouldn't I do? I get wherever I'm going I get whatever I need While my blood's still flowing And my heart's still Beating like a hammer [Repeats] Help I'm alive My heart keeps beating like a hammer
Fucking time travelers, always messing with us... No seriously tell me that this person just adjusted the year on their computer or something and not that they're a time traveller
This song will not and cannot get out of my head because I need it right now. I’m going through a bit of a difficult time. My mother is very ill and she’s quite challenging to deal with and this song is still here for me. I’ve known this band for a very long time from back in the day when they were small, playing small places. I loved them then and I still love them. This is one of the best songs in their repertoire. I love that they are big now, and play big venues, but still remember when they played the small ones. Their creativity, their mastery of lyrics and music are so good. The song is my brain space right now.
My 24y/o daughter had this song playing loud in her outhouse recently . Told me who it was . I've been playing it in my mind for the past week (sound system in my car not working) .
A band I discovered in 2024 and fell in love with. Then I find out they're Canadian. Then I find out they played a free concert a half hour away from where I live. #mysummer2024
listening to this bc as a teenager I just got the help I needed to even wanna be alive and already it feels like the floor is being ripped out from under me. My brain isn't even at full maturity and ppl want me to decide my future? That's bs. The entire damn system is a lie. I know it's best to just accept it and keep moving forward, but how can I if I can't see the path ahead? I guess the best thing to do is to take it one day at a time, and not waste my opportunities. Still, with the world as unstable as it is right now, it's hard to not feel anxious. Only commenting so anyone who feels the same knows they're not alone.
I’ll thank Vampire diaries my whole life, that’s how I knew of this song and this awesome band!!! Back in 2012 😍 now in 2019 I’ll see their show in my city this weekend 😍😍😍😍😍😝😝
Kristen Stewart in an interview recommended this band about the time Eclipse hit the screens. So I thought I would give them a listen. Good choice girl.
Brings back good memories of my post divorce single life Gold Guns Girls, then I found Help I'm Alive always takes me back to those great days and moving on
if anyone really likes this song I suggest you go further down the rabbit hole they have so many awesome songs even the b-sides are awesome like London halflife, soft rockstar, hardwire, and I could not find one bad song on the first three albums either sorry if im over selling it I just really love this band and not ashamed to say so
@BallisticsJoe I'm happy that ya do. They've got a pretty big back catalog that I hope you're enjoying too now man. I got on the band's bandwagon back in 2004 when combat baby came out. The surge in popularity they picked up, long over due.
I remember when the bombs just dropped (in Dying Light 2) and I had to rush to the canteen for an emergency meeting to discuss a resolution and then, inside ... I heard this song ... and stopped to enjoy the moment .. not many people knew what had just happened and were all so happy, the music and the whole environment was just so beautiful .. I just had to stop to enjoy the moment before the terror that would later unfold.
Listened to this song when I was about 6 or 8 I'm the back of my dad's truck, was obsessed with metric. I am now 18 and graduating soon and this randomly popped into my head
co favorite band of all time and that says a lot because I love and own every stones, zepplin, floyd, hendix, doors, beatles, cd/album my point is I don't like garbage music and I think metric are just an amazing band n also Emily is so beautiful I love her voice
Damn your list is just as stupid as your English. This music is very boring and repetitive. Your selection of music is very limited, yet you you say you don't listen to "garbage" there is so much to see and hear and you are naming bands who have been surpassed with talent.
Great sound ! I've just heard something else that I'm happy to suggest : The song "I'm Gone" by Nikö Laetailleurs. You can find it by copying-pasting *"I'm Gone - Nikö Laetailleurs"* in the youtube search bar. Hoping my own feeling become yours...
Imagine you're me and you've only just discovered Metric in late 2023...
Let me guess, Scott Pilgirm anime ?
Got to see them at Pemberton and filmed them with a 35mm Arriflex. Emily saw me, and casually put a hand on one hip and did a sexy flip of her hair
Since 2006 for me when I bought Let It Out based on this song!
My 14 year old son just discovered this song.
then all my senses just went haywire
Such a good song for when you’re anxious and uncertain about the future but you just need to pull your shit together and power on
This song randomly gets stuck in my head all the time. Help I’m alive
Not the only one 😌
That happens to me too.
same
@@josedeleon3931 help I'm alive
Don't worry. That's a temporary problem.
Forgot about this song until I heard it in dying light 2. Forgot how good of a song it is.
I found metric when I was going through one of the most difficult patches in my young adulthood. It felt so good to relate and feel understood.
Music can do that 🎶 especially certain band that is one thing that is awesome about life.☮️🌈
Amen, sister!
Am I the only one brought here just from the genuine love for Metric?
ikr? Me too
I am the fan 🎙️ In 2013, I listened to Metric in San Jose
I saw them at The Terminal and Prospect Park in NY. Great music
No Good dude you are not!
Yes, you are the only person in the whole world. Everyone hates Metric 🤦🏻♀️

Wow
Yes. This too shall pass.
Covid probably wont pass, it will stay with us and we will have to live with it
Effing yes.
Well we still in it a year later
Loved this song in DYING LIGHT 2! 🤩
Really sucks that the remix from the game was never released
I just walked in the Bazaar on Dying Light 2 and heard this game and now I’m watching

Our "burden of performance" as men
When I was getting clean off of drugs and would get really bad anxiety/panic attacks, I would play this song on repeat….only thing that would honestly calm down.
Bless up🙏
Hope you are still doing ok. I have bad anxiety/panic attacks myself, and this along with Lazy Eye by Silversun Pickups, and I am the Highway by Audioslave are my go to that always help me.

They are ridiculously underrated!
I saw them in Columbus, Ohio a few days ago, they put on a great show

What an addictive chorus. I only came across this song a few weeks ago. Awesome.
I tremble
They're gonna eat me alive
If I stumble
They're gonna eat me alive
Can you hear my heart
Beating like a hammer
Beating like a hammer
Help I'm alive
My heart keeps beating like a hammer
Hard to be soft
Tough to be tender
Come take my pulse the pace is on a runaway train
Help I'm alive
My heart keeps beating like a hammer
Beating like a hammer
If you're still alive
My regrets are few
If my life is mine
What shouldn't I do?
I get wherever I'm going
I get whatever I need
While my blood's still flowing
And my heart's still
Beating like a hammer
Beating like a hammer
Help I'm alive
My heart keeps beating like a hammer
Hard to be soft
Tough to be tender
Come take my pulse the pace is on a runaway train
Help I'm alive
My heart keeps beating like a hammer
Beating like a hammer
If you're still alive
My regrets are few
If my life is mine
What shouldn't I do?
I get wherever I'm going
I get whatever I need
While my blood's still flowing
And my heart's still
Beating like a hammer [Repeats]
Help I'm alive
My heart keeps beating like a hammer
first one from dying light 2 :)

I love this song it reminds me when I felt like I was drowning in the waters of life and no one seem to notice
Did you die
I hope your doing okay now.
Hope you made it. Blessings
Such a brilliant song.
Metric rocks! Emely Heines just gives me goosebumps!

metric, i love you. you are an amazing band.
I absolutely love this song and I absolutely love Metric. Saw them at Minglewood in my hometown in Memphis. Was not disappointed.
🇲🇽 Hello everyone from MX! Tuve la oportunidad de verlos en vivo en el Machaca 2019. Escuchar esta canción en vivo me encantó 💕
This is my comfort song
My 24y/o daughter had this song playing loud in her outhouse recently . Told me who it was . I've been playing it in my mind for the past week (sound system in my car not working) .
My dad got me an iPod when I was like 11 or something. I downloaded a bunch of his music. Still remember this classic vividly.
Incredible song.
This band owes a lot of their sound to The Breeders.
This song really deserves a better video.
This video was completely bad ass. I’m sorry it went over your head entirely.

I found out about this band and song from watching the movie Defendor back in 2009. It started playing during the end credits.
Meanwhile I’m rewatching TVD and there’s another metric song used: Season 7 Episode 15 has ‘Lie Lie Lie’ in it!

First heard this song at the end of a movie called "Defendor" A cool movie Defendor is my favorite Super Hero. Check it out.
Lyrically speaking, "Help I'm alive" might be the best 3 words. This is a tune that can be covered over and over.
