My grandfather had a ranch south of town. I couldn't wait till I got old enough to start helping out. But when I was around 7 my grandfather sold his ranch. To some degree I felt cheated. Then in my mid-40s when the economy collapsed I moved back home and we had a small piece of land that nobody was using. So I asked if I could build something on it. I built a small cow calf operation and I built a small horse training operation. For whatever reason around 2012 my aunt realized that I had increased the value of her property and so she sold it from under me. I had 2 weeks to sell everything. Wrenching was the best life ever lived. I was the boss so I can work at whatever I wanted whenever I wanted. Nobody was going to complain if I was too slow. I self taught myself most of the stuff I did. Even taught myself to weld. I built all my shelters and my corrals. Well of course I built on my fences. So yeah when that life got taken from me what a shame. Anyways I've enjoyed watching your program and even more so now that you're on TH-cam. In a way it's almost like I'm back there again when I watch your videos and other ranch videos that I watch. Thank you.

Maybe try getting your own land and resources. Its nice to inherit, but someone somewhere has to build the life. You come across as a whiner, who all the failure in life is because of someone else. I don't even have you know you personally to visualize you as the user loser type.

Nice to see Polar Bear. I was the ship fitter super when she was built in Tacoma. Still have a set of corrected blueprints for her. The guy the owner hired to redraw the prints so the USCG would accept them had no clue. The friend I hired to run the fitters and I redrew the bow and tank drawings so they could actually be built. I drug up just before the house was fitted to the hull due to conflict with the owner.

Yes, Otto I'll bet you have been in and out of the harbor a time or two! I remember you docking the Mary M once-your Dad was beside you on the bridge coaching. I'm thinking it was in the late 60's or early 70's. I too remember when the harbor was just a pothole at the end of the spit. The harbor wasn't much and as I recall we used to offload crab to a DKW.

Those new skid steers can be super finicky. I've been in some where you need to slam that glass so hard you worry you're going to break it a roughly $1400 windshield. Adjustments fix this but with all the stupid safety sensors for the door, the bar, the seat, they can be a pain. We used to bypass all that junk, but I've been told some of the newer tractors need to see a reset signal from safety switches to operate. I am not a fan but, when parts run out, there's only so much a person can reasonably do to keep things running.
Anyway good work. Cool to see a boat like that working. We use a smaller 24 ft version for recovering sunken and derelict vessels off the Washington coast.

Otto, you could have lift the gate up on the boat enough to raise the front of the bobcat up, then put some cribbing under the front of the tracks, lower the gate, back the boat out, then drive the bobcat off the cribbing, what have only taken a couple minutes, so you wouldn't have had to worry about the tide

  • @ashleywright1991

If its anything like the model in the uk the door has to be closed on the sneck and then u press the gate button on the control panel before it will allow u to move the bucket it's to save u smashing the door .... u might find if u unplug the door harness it will then work as we used to take the door on and off depending on who was hiring the machine to save them breaking the glass ..... the rubber seal on the door is to tough and is a fight
