What Kylo Ren fought was a force shadow similar to what Luke faced in the cave of Dagobah. Luke defeated it rather easily as you remember in Empire Strikes Back because it was not the real Darth Vader, so in this vision Kylo Ren is facing something similar. I love this work because it was not as we the audience expects.
Additionally, the part where Kylo grabbed his lightsaber with the force seemed reminiscent of the beginning of Empire when Luke summoned his own lightsaber with the force to defend himself as he was suspended in the air.
It's like that because of the mechanical parts which Sidious designed to be weak and slow to always fill vader with hate and pain, and to make sure he never overthrows him. Also his attacks may be slow, but they are strong as hell and it needs quite alot of strength to even not get your saber knocked down.

They did a great job with Vader’s breathing effects, and the choreography for his movement, it was all small details that really characterized him well IMO.

Like Obi-Wan vs Maul? Or when Luke tried to kill the Emperor? Or when Luke sliced that Wampa? Not to mention the countless times The Force was used (either in a Push or otherwise) to gain the upper hand on an opponent? I agree with the sentiment. Vader (the real one) would have never lost to someone like Kylo Ren. However; I can't, in good conscience, agree with the premise that it was a cheap shot. If you lose track of your surroundings, and the movement of The Force in a Battle, you deserve what you get. A competent Force-wielder like Vader would have sensed him reaching for the lightsaber, and counteracted it. Otherwise everyone would use The Force to turn someone else's lightsaber on/off when they weren't expecting it, throw heavy things from behind them, etc. and there would be no defense against it. If you couldn't feel The Force, you couldn't adequately defend against another Force-wielder's attacks, unless they we're always within your line of sight.

Obi-Wan used the force to summon his lightsaber the same as Luke did versus the emperor and the wampa. However something can definitely be said about powerful force users should be able to sense the the force is being manipulated around them And as such should definitely be more prepared to react.

Using this technique isn't unheard of, and the only way it works is through hubris of the opponent or using it against a non-Force-sensitive enemy. (Maul already bought he had won, and let his guard down/Luke was blocked by none other than Vader [although the argument could be made that Palpatine would have easily done the same in his stead]/and the Wampa had no strategic nor Force-sensitive combat abilities). This was the basis of my comment. This move was used in The Last Jedi, for Pete's sake. If that abomination of a movie did anything right; it was proving that at the height of an opponent's egotistic belief in their own superiority, and their subsequent dismission of their surroundings, even someone as horrible as Kylo/Rey could beat someone overtly more powerful than themselves. I didn't like Snoke as a villain, nor as a character; but he was objectively more powerful than either of them.
As someone whose been part of a Vader fan project before, the did so extremely well on the Vader fight movements it felt like the original. Well done. Camera and lighting are super clean. Few audio fixes need to be done. Great job.

Heres how i would have made this. It either would have taken place on endor or skywalker acadamy.(Mabey luke brought the helmet there) Kylo is searching for vader's remains, just before he burned the temple or he is with first order trying to find the ewok village. First he would slaughter the lives there (jedi or ewoks). Then once finished he turns around to see vader with his lightsaber activated. The fight would go the same as it did here, only in both situations he sees himself as the kylo from the first order with his red lightsaber, mask and everything. But then when he is in the force choke, vader says his badass line of "there is no escape" and swings at kylo, only then to be revealed as a vision. Then lying there, vaders burned mask, half burried in the earth. Then the empire theme plays and the short is over. Thank you.

I agree with the sentiment. Vader (the real one) would have never lost to someone like Kylo Ren. However; I can't, in good conscience, agree with the premise that it was a cheap shot. If you lose track of your surroundings, and the movement of The Force in a Battle, you deserve what you get. A competent Force-wielder like Vader would have sensed him reaching for the lightsaber, and counteracted it. Otherwise everyone would use The Force to turn someone else's lightsaber on/off when they weren't expecting it, throw heavy things from behind them, etc. and there would be no defense against it. If you couldn't feel The Force, you couldn't adequately defend against another Force-wielder's attacks, unless they we're always within your line of sight.

Obi-Wan used the force to summon his lightsaber the same as Luke did versus the emperor and the wampa. However something can definitely be said about powerful force users should be able to sense the the force is being manipulated around them And as such should definitely be more prepared to react.

Using this technique isn't unheard of, and the only way it works is through hubris of the opponent or using it against a non-Force-sensitive enemy. (Maul already bought he had won, and let his guard down/Luke was blocked by none other than Vader [although the argument could be made that Palpatine would have easily done the same in his stead]/and the Wampa had no strategic nor Force-sensitive combat abilities). This was the basis of my comment. This move was used in The Last Jedi, for Pete's sake. If that abomination of a movie did anything right; it was proving that at the height of an opponent's egotistic belief in their own superiority, and their subsequent dismission of their surroundings, even someone as horrible as Kylo/Rey could beat someone overtly more powerful than themselves. I didn't like Snoke as a villain, nor as a character; but he was objectively more powerful than either of them.

As someone whose been part of a Vader fan project before, the did so extremely well on the Vader fight movements it felt like the original. Well done. Camera and lighting are super clean. Few audio fixes need to be done. Great job.

Heres how i would have made this.
It either would have taken place on endor or skywalker acadamy.(Mabey luke brought the helmet there) Kylo is searching for vader's remains, just before he burned the temple or he is with first order trying to find the ewok village. First he would slaughter the lives there (jedi or ewoks). Then once finished he turns around to see vader with his lightsaber activated. The fight would go the same as it did here, only in both situations he sees himself as the kylo from the first order with his red lightsaber, mask and everything. But then when he is in the force choke, vader says his badass line of "there is no escape" and swings at kylo, only then to be revealed as a vision. Then lying there, vaders burned mask, half burried in the earth. Then the empire theme plays and the short is over. Thank you.
