  • After touring the southern islands of Quebec’s Magdalen Islands, it was time to head north to explore the island of Grande-Entree, home to one of Canada’s coziest all-inclusive nature lodges, the charming Auberge La Salicorne.
My stay at this beautiful property was simply sublime, and I was impressed with both the level of service and the wide variety of amenities that they offer. Here, my room rate included both breakfast and dinner prepared with local ingredients like fresh seal meat and Pied-de-Vent cheese, but also included a variety of activities and sightseeing excursions that truly allowed me to get a better sense of the island. Equipment rentals (like canoes and SUP boards) are also included here, and the cozy property features an on-site Seal Interpretive Center if you’d like to learn more about the island’s seal hunting culture.
Using the La Salicorne as my home base, I took side trips to both the beautiful Pointe L’est Wildlife Reserve and the endless beach of Plage Bassin de Est. This is the part of Les Îles de La Madeleine where you’ll feel most connected to nature, offering some of the most remote and beautiful hikes, beaches, and sea cave tours that you’ll find on the archipelago. If you’re looking for a laid back, charming lodge stay that won’t break the bank, Auberge La Salicorne definitely fits the bill, and I could not recommend it more.

Ahhh zee Quebecois Francais. I used to work for Club Mediteraine in the 80's and 90's. All inclusive resorts all over the planet. When youre my age, 63, you will be so happy you did this. Seeing the world when youre young. And can experience and participate, rather than just watch from the sidelines like traveling retirees.

I’m so blessed and grateful to be able to have lived the life I have and seen so much of the world at my relatively young 41 years. 128 countries and counting. And now, thanks to TH-cam, I can bring the world along with me to live it vicariously, if nothing else 👍

Beautiful but how did they get those apples in the bottle

They actually grow the stem of the apple tree inside the bottle. The bottle remains with the stem as it sprouts and grows into a full apple. It’s quite an impressive process!!
