  • The final installment of dialogue editing with Fairlight!
Gotta say, the fact that DaVinci Resolve includes a full featured NLE and DAW in the same application is incredible. The days of cutting in Avid and then going to Pro Tools for sound design, and then back and forth as picture changes are over!
In this lesson we look at three problem audio scenes and experiment with various tools like EQ, Gate, Expander, Voice Isolation and Noise Reduction to see which one will do the job.
Something sound designers understand is that there is no such thing as "one tool to rule them all."
The tool that works best depends on the type of issue, the frequency ranges affected, etc.

Where can be get that Neutron 4 Equalizer? I might've missed that. Great videos on these dialogue edits!

Enjoying your series. As we move into foley, and effects, I am working on a film where we needed to get a VO from an actor and didn't. Have you experimented with any of the voice impersonator AI programs out there? Turn my voice into his. Looking forward to more great content.

I've not done anything with AI relating to filmmaking. But cool idea if you need a line! If AI can match Morgan Freeman we're set. Hahaha. Studio films would have all kinds of rules on this, but for us indie filmmakers there's more freedom. Heads up: I'm probably not posting the foley stuff on the channel. My YT channel shares a lot, but some of it is only part of the online film school. However, you've been a loyal subscriber so hit me up off the site's contact form if you'd like and I'll drop you a deal you can't refuse.
