A Wild Life
A Wild Life is a short film that follows the story of my friend and fellow wildlife photographer Richard Campion as he talks through how the natural world helped him to overcome a battle with depression and anxiety,
Anxiety is something that myself and Richard have discussed many times in the past and we have both turned to the natural world to try to help learn how to cope with the challenges that mental health can throw at us. This is why I wanted to create this film, to help spread awareness and create conversation about such an important topic.
Please check out Richard's TH-cam channel, he's so talented and creates such beautiful films on wildlife photography that are definitely worth a watch! @mywildlifeimages
This film was made as a part of my masters in Wildlife Filmmaking at UWE.

Scotland - A Scottish Showcase

My favourite place in the UK is the Cairngorms. This is a showcase I have made of some of the most beautiful things I have been lucky enough to see whilst visiting this stunning county. This film is a part of my third year university portfolio, a project called "Rewilding Scotland'.

Squirrel’s Life - Scottish Nature Video Award So amongst all the bad news that’s been going on, last week I received a call to say that my short film ‘A Squirrel’s Life’ has won the Scottish Nature Video Award, 2019! • 'I'm so happy to have won the Scottish Nature Video Award! It was such a lovely phone call to receive, especially in such strange and unpredictable times. The Cairngorms is my fa...

Cool! Great editing!
Great video!
We where on the Isle of Mull in September unfortunately I never got to see an otter but I was lucky enough to capture the northern lights, we are planning to return next year, we've got a 28day plane for next year, geart blogging and great shots .
Great job! I’m looking forward to seeing your next video! Thanks for taking me along!
A very good first video, I am wondering how you managed to park up to get the shots? We are on Mull and as you can’t park in the passing spots we are finding it extremely difficult to take images of anything.
Really nice vid and shots of the otters. I used to have that same lense which I used to take up there some years back now. But would love to try and get back up for the otters
Great photography keep. It up.
First of all love the video, secondly get a 500 you won't regret it, I've been using one for years ,dippers last week it! Love the lens.

What a brilliant first video. Keep going Sophie. Joy to watch.
Such a beautiful video! Well done
It is so damn awesome that your research is looking at wildlife images and how they can help people! And to top it off you've chosen one of my absolute favourite photographers to work with; his images are stunningly beautiful. Good luck with it all and take care out there....
Nice work. Some very beautiful scenery!
Stunning location!
I came to photography for the simmilar reasons, to overcome some lifes problems and this film made me think about my begginings and i am so happy to see this and to be where i am am today...thanks to photography! Great video! 😉✌️
Thank you for this video, I have been following Richard for sometime now and enjoying his work. In 2021 I had a breakdown due to the stresses of my job and suffered just as Richard did, I started wildlife photography in early 2022 and can honestly say that if it wasn't for the wildlife, I wouldn't be here today. I admire what Richard has been able to achieve during his journey, and hope I will achieve a similar outcome in the not so distant future. Thank both of you for sharing this video..
First video? Bravo 👏🏻👏🏻. Content is spot on 👌 and lens work is top class 👏🏻. Looking forward to seeing more 😊. Regards Tom
excellent Sophie **SUBBED & THUMBSUP** look forward to seeing more.
This struck a chord with me. My journey into wildlife photography developed into a way to offset the stress of my job (I referred to this as my Ying and Yang) and left me with a new passion which is keeping me both mentally and physically active now I am retired.
Close encounters of the Otter kind. Beautiful film. It’s made me want to visit Mull…… You’re just so clever!! Deb Young Xx
Congratulations Sophie, a really nice and insightful film. Very well edited with excellent use of "B" roll and cut aways (this makes it sound like I'm some sort of expert- I'm not!!!) It was very easy to watch and flowed nicely. I like the ending when Richard returned with his baby. Well done👌
Brilliant videography and really nice to hear Richard’s story
Fantastic. Thank you. All the best. 👍📷😎
Lovely film
A wonderful story and video :) thank you for sharing!
Beautiful landscape!
Absolutely beautiful video and thank you to Richard for opening up on camera, as a man who suffers with mental health issues I know it's not easy.
this is brilliant iv found that photographing my local nature scenery here in lancashire chills me out too and brings down the anxity etc thanks
First prize goes to Miss Sophie Bestwick……… Beautiful film. Excellent subject with such good intentions. Fabulous natural images edited so well. Fabulous!!! You should be so proud!!! Xx
Sophie; beautiful, sensitive and informative. Much like yourself!
A topic that most certainly resonates with me. Thoughtfully put together, thank you :)
Richard does some great work.
What a lovely video, and such an important topic you’ve covered. I can totally relate…nature and wildlife photography/filmmaking is my escape from anxiety too. Congratulations on this wonderful project and huge gratitude to you for making it. Just followed you on Twitter. Keep up the fantastic work ☺️🙏🏼💚
Awesome stuff Sophie, nicely put together and highlighting how the natural world can help our mental health.
Amazing video! Wonderfully put together with a great story. 🙌 Love it!
This video is brilliant, the progression in your work is really clear as well. I tried my hand at videos previously and stopped - the quality of this one is something I’d be really proud of. Richard’s story resonates as I’ve had the almost exact same experience with anxiety and wildlife photography is just one of the most effective ways of finding relief. I can’t wait to see your next videos 🙌
A very enjoyable video, which makes me miss Scotland and encourages me to get out more in vile weather. Also, to visit Mull as well as Skye when I am next in the UK. And your otter images are great! @darkskiesimages
