    "File Diff" was a great find for me, especially as a Syncthing user. I often modify notes offline on different devices and thus end up with merge conflicts that this plugin helps me quickly solve.

    Always learning from this guy. Your Templater walkthrough was a gamechanger for me, and it’s always rewarding to incorporate a new plug-in and feel it’s impact on your note-taking.

    I use commander all the time. My main use is to have a button for activating a workspace (using the workspace plus community plugin).
    So I can push my home button and it takes me to my home dashboard canvas.
    Metadata menu is what I use instead of DBfolder.

    2:35 the big learning for me is `` to avoid have frontmatter (properties) in your templates with the new property view of Obsidian. Big win

    I don’t know where they’d go on a top ten list, but,
    Podnotes & Media extended are staples if you take notes from anything other than books, since with templates they reduce the action threshold for actually studying video / audio on the go to nigh nothing
    Metadata menu is a godsend for habit tracking and task management, as it’s what gets you editable dataview queries from anywhere in your vault
    And honorable mentions likely goes to obsidian cron, Obsidian url, and google calendar plug-ins, for auto recurring and generated templates, with the option to add to calendar ala Notion , albeit in the testing phase on my end.

    • @BryanJenks
      @BryanJenks  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      didnt know about podnotes, that might come in handy for me right now actually given how airr.io just kicked the bucket. and if i didnt have prompted input popups for my daily notes, then obsidian cron would have been perfect, thanks!

    this third plugin is EXACTLY what I needed: I sync notes between my phone and PC using Syncthing, but it makes the file.ctime and .mtime look different on different devices: in one, a dataview table looks one way; in the other, it's totally different
    I'll definitely be checking it out; if it doesn't work as I want, I'll just make an easy template do to it. Thanks!

    Very much agree w/ "Supercharged Links". It seems to be much underrated by the Obsidian community writ large. The only one you didn't mention is Natural Language Dates which allows easy insertion of dates.

    • @BryanJenks
      @BryanJenks  ปีที่แล้ว

      oh yeah NLP dates, i do have that one, it really is underrated as it just does its thing in the background lol

    In Obsidian there's no way to properly move a tab into a side-by-side editor view. Using the native split right command does open the active doc in a side-by-side view, but it leaves the original doc on the left open, so now you have 2 editors of the exact same duplicate doc open side-by-side... which is basically useless most of the time, it's not a code editor for diff-ing 🙄 usually you're wanting to have 2 *different* docs open.
    Pro use for Commander. You can hack your way and emulate proper move functionality by macro-ing the following actions:
    1. split right
    2. focus on tab group to the left
    3. close current tab
    4. focus on tab group to the right
    It does come with some caveats which only a dedicated plugin could solve, but it's really nice to just be able to move a tab into a side-by-side view automatically, without having to use the mouse to close the tab on the left.

    One of the reasons I don't use dataview as much as perhaps I should is that I see no way to save the result. I realize that the point is for it to be dynamic, but I also want my vault to be as futureproof as possible, and being able to back up my dataview results would go a long way.

    • @BryanJenks
      @BryanJenks  ปีที่แล้ว

      the DB folder plugin can display the output of a dataview query and has an option to export to csv, that might be more in line with what youre looking for

    Missing perhaps is "Admonition" - maybe 'cause I don't really deal with format styling in CSS - but the application of some styling to just indicate actual quotes, initial thoughts and thought/quotes/notes applied from elsewhere just to give me visuals on the when/where/and what promoted these note/paragaph additions as I process and revisit notes and reading note especially.
    So two classics that get differentiation are quotes of a text and quotes taken from a text...
    Similarly - if reading (more likely an article but could be a book) for a second time or a second project... the second pass is styled differently. Trouble with the Zot plugin still needs work, but...
