There is a lot of very worthwhile content in this video. What would make it more valuable for me would be to understand 'what' you are setting about to achieve before you begin the 'how' you go about achieving it, thereby contextualising the various configuration option choices you make. Thanks for putting this vidoe together!
I thought the title explained that "Beginning again in Obsidian" - Building my Obsidian vault from the beginning. Apologies if my assumption caused confusion.
01:07:00 - Words between quotes are strings. Boolean true or false is not a string so they don't need to be between quotes. For false - where Status != true For true - where Status = true

Great video Danny! Quick question, what is the syntax around 9:19? I've put in dv.pages("Class").map(p => p.file.name) -- How are the quotes being used around Class; I've tried every combination between a single and double ('"Class'"), two double quotes (""Class""), three single quotes ('''Class''') and I can never get the Default page to pop up. Love this Danny! the build from scratch. I have gone and started a new one and followed every step. I am thinking of alle the classes I want to see in my home view. I am going to make a book canvas as you have in your vault where you showed a sneak at 7.43 I think I need a little bit of help to be honest 😅 What I want in my Home Canvas is projects, Habits and Tasks overview.

Don't you think that after Obsiidian 1.4 came out with native typed properties support, those overcomplicated 'wonder weapon' plugins like Metadata Menu and DB Folder became outdated a bit? For me, as someone striving for simplicity, they bring more accidental complexity than benefits now.
For me no. Without Metadata Menu, I can't edit properties from the canvas view. Nor can I have select and multi select options from dataview queries, or specific lists. If that isn't something you need, then totally get your point!
Hi Danny, maybe you're reading this and can help with this (or somebody else can): I remember you mentioned how you had a shortcut to very quickly and easily save TH-cam URLs that would then - when clicked - start to play TH-cam videos from that specific position. I thought that was so cool that I'd never forget it. Well, I did. Could you remind you what that method was?
Just a small feedback Dan, as another comment had mentioned, this is an insanely complicated setup for Obsidian, and „Beginning again“ feels like it‘s wrong, as the content doesn‘t actually show what Obsidian is supposed to be used for, which is linking ideas! It’s too much into the dataview plugin and setting things up, that if I were a beginner with Obsidian, I‘d be turned off already seeing this. This feels a lot like for someone who‘s already an intermediate in Obsidian, and wanting to supercharge it for their TH-cam/article/thesis research so they can have things at in a quick glance (a la Project Manager) It‘s too much overengineering as the other comment said, but I still appreciate the content now I get ideas on using Dataview and Canvas as a homepage. It‘d be more fitting if the title was, „How I built Obsidian as my Research Manager tool from scratch“

The missing fields option will appear when the properties are no in the file. If they are, then the plugin doesn't show the option. That would be my guess.
