    Felipe has such a retable story, and has done some amazing things to turn a broken dream into a fountain of wealth. It's great to see a Latino represent his people so well. Bigger things are definitely coming his way... And if you say "No." He's definitely going to change your mind after you listen to the full episode.

      I am too. That was messed up. I'm in Chicago and had 2 parents who were police officers. They totally missed out. He sounds like the perfect cop.
      But God had a different plan for him and I'm glad he push through and understands his market. He's helping people at the same time that he's doing this by helping people have housing that wouldn't be able to on their own. Sometimes, God has a different plan and its up to us to change course and not give up.
      I just subscribed to his channel since he responded to your comment.

      I know this comment is a year old. I wanted to let you know though it may not be because he was Hispanic that he got booted. Due to racial equality laws in a lot of organizations these days, you have a certain percentage of diverse races you are required to higher. So instead of picking the more qualified candidate, they may have just needed another black guy on the force, instead of another Hispanic guy.
      That being said, the guy could have just been racist. It can be hard to tell based off the information given.

    Lets rest the " Police Thing Mr Fellipe , I will give you your " WHY " . Why the police told you to go home, since no one else will tell you . (1) Your energy is too pure and genuine (2) Your level of honesty and inability to lie is a dis-qualifier (3) You don't have the " Killer instinct " , you love people. (4) Your unassailable integrity that you developed from watching Mama clean other people home and working her fingers to the bone and then use that money to send you to college. The best thing that happened to you is them telling you " NO " . You need to send thank you cards to all the police departments for not hiring you . Great interview and very well articulated .

      I said the same thing. This is a blessing in the disguise. He is helping more people now than he will ever as a police officer. Imagine if he was a cop and he was sending kids to jail for personal usage of a harmless plant and ruining their life.

    😳😱😱😱😱 Brandon!! No bull. At minute 124:10 you were asking the final question as to why people quit, give up, never get started etc. I’m at a red light with my earbuds in listening. Just as I look out my window at this store he spits out the answer at the exact same time I read the Bed it sofa store sign the read COMFORT ZONE 😱 I had time to click a pic as the light turned green. I’ll send it on IG. Unreal. I’ve been that perpetual in the fence learner but moving closer to investing. Getting ready to refinance my home with a HELOC in Santa Barbara. Keep it Brandon and David! You’re making more of an impact than you know. 🙌🏼 Tony

    • @tonymartinez5946
      @tonymartinez5946 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Tyrone Harris im no expert but here’s what I found. I currently have a small $25,000 HELOC. I’m going to refinance soon with a larger HELOC. I have a ton of equity in my home but I’m self-employed and I’ve been showing too many right offs in the business which lowers my income. Last year and this year I had to increase my income and pay more in taxes. What I found is that the banks loan on what you earn not on how much your house is in equity. Even though I have over 600 K in equity, I’ll be increasing to $150K in the new HELOC. There may be banks that loan more.
      Key: get your credit score as high as possible. Ask several banks to give you a rough idea before they give you a hard hit on your credit. It’s free to ask. Once you have a HELOC do not be late on payments. The bank can freeze your account Good luck

    I appreciate Felipe's story. I can't help but think that he didn't entirely do this from scratch. I'm not knocking the hustle because he did , but he also got a $30k check from FEMA at 18. Having capital to finance your dive into real estate is a huge advantage. Not saying he's not being genuine or dishonest, it's just not the same circumstances as those that are truly starting with nothing.

It's more of a job than an investment due to being more involved, but in many ways it allows you to have the benefits of a multi-family AND the accessibility of single family homes. It is a terrific way to start, if you're in a high rent market that has a lot of people looking to rent rooms to save money.

    From my experience most mobile home lot owners will not allow you to buy a trailer home and then rent it out usually they have to be your primary residence because they want the neighborhood to be stable and also I think that is a very short term plan I would not rely on mobile homes for sources of income they do not last long thats why they dont build any positive equity and banks wont really touch them. I would encourage people to buy cheap homes in the midwest below market value and save cash for your first one and then leverage from there. Most you will spend would be anywhere from 15 to 20k and since you own it outright you would be able to repair it slowly and build equity.

      I use podcast addict as well, and have been listening to BP on it for years. The last three months, BP podcast hasn't downloaded any new episodes. I've unsubscribed and resubscribed a few times to no avail. Not sure what the problem is, but that's why I'm listening on YT now.

    I don't mind the illegal immigrants who are not disruptive and are only here to earn money to provide for their family. I think they're acting as all Americans should. The only ones I am against are the ones who do not think the laws apply to them but still take advantage of our government-provided benefits. I am sure the people I am against are a small majority but the population is blown out of proportion because they are the only illegal immigrants visible whereas those who keep their head down and try not to get attention are not shown in the media.

      You do know that you're an immigrant too, right? Europeans stole this country from Natives. And now yall want to act like this country is yours and no one else is allowed. No one gives a shit about the kind of immigrants you except or not except. That's not up to you. It's sad because you're a racist and you don't even know it. And you feel perfectly fine and comfortable blasting your racist viewpoint like it's valid and ok. Raise your hand if you call yourself a Christian, and put it right back down because you're not. Oh, and the person who gave you a "thumbs up" for your comment, they are racists too. Have a good racist night.

      Hmmm....racial discrimination (against an American btw) and illegal immigration are both against the law and yet IQ only thinks that one is an issue. Hey, hes not responsible for administering the law so he can rent to whoever he wants. Last time I checked renting to illegal aliens is not against the law but discrimination on the basis of race is. How do you people live with yourselves, you're hypocrisy and latent racism.

    Wow!! The blatant racism this young mad faced. "We have enough latino police officers already." Just crushed his dream solely because of his race. The hosts just skimmed over it like it was nothing. 🙁

  • @astrojudo

    Something just rubs me the wrong way the way about this podcast. Everyone in the podcast seems to accept the police department’s obvious discrimination of Felipe as something less serious and more related to Felipe not having the “right stuff.” Very disturbing. I guess we can all just sit back and accept discrimination as being one’s fault for being a minority.

      Felipe Mejia sure, but for the sake of clarity, there’s nothing wrong with you (or ppl like you) because of your skin color or heritage. Saying or implying that just sends the wrong message and makes the behavior acceptable when it isn’t, despite your personal way of responding to it and using it as motivation.

      You're correct. Racial discrimination is illegal in the United States, and this is one more example of how deeply racist police departments are. Very weird that the two hosts went along with him being blatantly discriminated.

    • @TheOneWithComments
      @TheOneWithComments 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@astrojudo I'm proud of how Felipe handled the situation but I agree that situation should never have happened in the first place and the hosts didn't acknowledge how wrong that was. I know these guys are very blue-friendly and there is absolutely nothing wrong with that but their friend experienced blatant discrimination that is (I think) more outright discriminatory than most people experience and thought nothing of it. I'm glad things turned out so incredible for Felipe and I'm sure his life would have been worse if he had gotten accepted but he really does not deserve to feel any responsibility for what happened to him. It's a shame.

    • @TheOneWithComments
      @TheOneWithComments 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@bill_the_butcher We're calling it out not focusing on it. You can see by our comments we think Felipe handled it well enough. He turned a shitty situation into an amazing opportunity and that's wonderful. But that doesn't mean we can't call out the discriminatory behavior. I took as much as I could from the video about investing and I'm sure everyone else did as well. We only made one comment on one aspect of the story and you think that means we got nothing else from the video? I'm sorry you are so offended by us talking about race and discrimination but that officer choosing to deny him the opportunity because of his race and admitting it to his face was a defining moment in his life. The fact that you want us to ignore it when we're just having a discussion about it is very immature. We can talk about all aspects of this video you really don't have to join the conversation if you don't like it.

    That was pure racism. It’s not about them not seeing something in him because the commanding officer was too stupid to mask his racism. He can sue that department and should. That would be a lot stronger than cowering to their racism. Keep doing well and being successful, but you can also make sure they never do that to another qualified recruit again.

    So he gets blatantly discriminated against and we're just going to gloss over it like it was his bad luck or there were better candidates?? Maybe a podcast on racism and discrimination in real estate and how it can affect opportunities would be great. Hell, some of us can't even go door knocking or "driving for dollars" because that.
