This makes me appreciate what i get for my Baht in Thailand in the way of hotel rooms. For 1500 Baht (35 pounds) you get so much better accomodation and facilities.
Without a doubt and that goes for a lot of places in the world, prison cells have better facilities than Ed’s room 😊 I would definitely of had a piss over the balcony

Ed. I think it looks like a holiday town - sea side the sixty's, but nothing wrong with that! The food does look good, and the beer was cold. When you are relaxing and reading a book on a beach what else do you need. Cheers! Keith

Romania has great pizza! I have been there twice. Beware get drinks without ice. You don't know if that ice/water has been filtered. I got bad ice at the Bucuresti Mall.

I am romanian and I can Tell you that even 20 years ago I stayed in a better room in a 2 stare hotel...maybe you will serch some reviews on the internet next tine😁
Why did you choose a cheap hotel to stay in? As I understand it, you didn't have a refrigerator or air conditioning, did you? As you can see, is for the people with low budget. Does £35 seem expensive to you? I think not, on the contrary, it is cheap. I only stay at 4 and 5 star hotels. However, the UK is a very expensive country, and the tourism in UK, is also very expensive. I had unpleasant experiences, when I stayed in Greece, France, Italy, in a 2-star hotel, the conditions were much worse like the ones when i was in România , not to mention the cleanliness. Rooms like the one you stayed at in Mamaia were more expensive in those countries.
That's why, now that I've become a businessman, I only stay in expensive hotels. In Mamaia, it is full of such 4 and 5 star hotels.

Good video but was it just me or does the volume go up when you start having a few? It was nice to see a place where the locals go and not another place where tons of foreigners acting inappropriately because they ae on holiday/I don't live here so why do I care attitude go.
Hotel is too far from the water. It's like hiking across the Sahara Desert to get to the sea. The hotel room is ridiculously overpriced. Hey, it's Romania not Monaco for godsakes.

Very interesting, and with the price of the more conventional resorts through the roof at the moment it is worth seeing what else there is. Looking at numbeo, in theory Romania should be about half the price of the UK. Maybe I am too tight, but I thought 109 lei for a meal seemed quite a lot? Mind you I compare everything to the 99 baht meals at Cheap Charlies in Pattaya! Maybe other things in Romania are cheaper? Kudos to Eddy for showing us something different again. 👍

You can rent a studio apartment in Romania with as little as €250 per month. Or a one or two bedrooms apartment with £350-£450 per month.

I'm going to do a tour in amazing Romania at the end of August: Bucharest-Brasov-Sibiu-Cluj Napoca-Oradea-Timisoara, then home. It is half of the country visited.

Despite the view I'm not too impressed about that hotel you stayed at there Eddie. Much preferred the one you had at Bucharest with the A/C, en suite, fridge and the local amenities all close by. Reminds me of some of the budget hotels that we have in the UK where the price post-Covid is usually more than what it should be nowadays.
He picked a wrong one....there are big and good hotels on the actual Mamaia beach....as for us,most of us do not get hotels but apartments near the beach ...as you come out the train there are people offering them to you in rent and you can also pre-book without paying before online

Try a 3 star hotel, the difference from a 2 star is huge
Seems like a very nice place to visit. For a more night club scene atmosphere (not my scene) Constanta might be a better destination. Thanks for all the interesting videos! P.S. As for the toilet issue- an empty 2 liter plastic bottle with a cut off top might do the trick(ok, just seen the end of the video. You've reached the same conclusion 😁) Anyway, as long as the room is quiet at night all's copacetic.. The sea view is magnificent!

Very good video, Eddy. Very pleasant street scenes and side restaurant areas for folks to enjoy. Very relaxed atmosphere. The beach is very inviting. Yes, more for a family to visit, although anyone would find it an enjoyable change of pace. Also, I like the nightlife scenes. The other thing which is refreshing to see - is no face masks! Great beach bars. Yes, the waitperson did sound and even look a lot like Mercedes, who played in "All The Kings Men," "Giant," "99 Woman," and 34 other movies. She was an excellent actress. The chocolate cake had my mouth watering. Excellent video. Thank you!

A very interesting theory about the Black Sea was formulated by Robert Ballard (the one who discovered the Titanic). He claims that, at first, the Black Sea was a freshwater lake and thousands of years ago this lake was flooded by the Mediterranean forming the current Bosphorus and Dardanelles straits. The event was recorded in the Bible, as the flood, and the beings saved themselves on Noah's Ark.

I am loving these videos of Romania - very interesting! Food and restaurants looked great. I was laughing out loud when you ordered desert after a good meal and a bottle of wine. In june .FANTASTIC..got pissed with the girls there every night.. But July is busiest month.. You need to get a deal prior Ed.. I saw those where your staying. they are clean.. But its Europe.. No place like Thailand Ed!!!.. But its one of the best in Europe I think.. Its as cheap as chips....the people are great there.its dirt cheap to travel.. Buses are all pretty much free everywhere. .but its not a solo destination..mamaiafor Couples and kids.. I found some whores there for 30 quid..but I just got on line and met girls in the city...But ASIA IS IT FXXK. vama veche. down the coast is where the locals go for lively. personally i think its better than canaries the sea is much warmer.. And its half the price.. Its an OK fill in until the flight prices drop to go back to heaven.. Lol.. But DO NOT GO IN THE STRIP BARS IN BUCHAREST.. SAME AS KRAKOW.. 135.000...25 LEI FOR A BEER.. I WENT IN THEM ALL same as any in Europe . but they are not dodgy but there are touts on the streets I only had to have a straightener twice in 3 times which is not too bad. .. Ignore them!!.. Get outside of the old town.... In the square there is a place called THE PUB.. live music cheap.. Everything outside of old town is half the price..!!..some great people you will meet.. Love Romanian people..peroni is 1.50 a pint.. Its a wicked city.. Don't just stay in the old town! drink with the locals..go where they go.. That's always the thing to do imo... Unless it's a dodgy place.. Which Bucharest is fine. Ps. My flight cost 28 quid return..and I got a special ticket for the train from bucha to constanta return 11 quid. So its a no brainer...only scam I have ever had is a taxi driver. No surprises.!!..there are buses..do not take taxis in constanta. Simple. I hope you recommend it..because I've been in every city in Europe and I really love this place for what it costs..that was my third visit... But there is one thing you should always do. That you don't ed. If you cannot say please and thank you.. Hello and goodbye. In any their language in any city anywhere in the world.. That is poor order.. Imo.. Its a sign of respect.. My overall view. It's not bad but not brilliant. Much better places to visit offering much better value,better nightlife etc in Europe. I would give it a miss myself but thanks for showing us Romania eddy 🙏👍
There are definitely better accommodations and beaches than this in Romania, just saying.
Also, most people are going to Vama Veche and Mamaia for the nightlife, they are best known for parties.

A beach need quite attractive girls milling around to make it for me and that's something i've not seen once in any of your Romania vlogs .

Mamaia is the least visited resort these days because of the high prices and the poor quality-price ratio. This year, the Romanians choose Bulgaria, Greece, a little Turkey, and romanian resorts Eforie Sud, Costinesti from the Black Sea
