      Thanks so much John. I really am having a lot of fun, such an absorbing hobby, I've missed a lot over the years.

    Very nice! I am always on the lookout for good quality used stamp supplies and albums - I assembled a world album from four separate lots that had enough overlap to create one good quality/condition 20-volume set through 2000.

      Thanks. That's amazing, building a collection like that must be very rewarding. I don't know where I'd put 20 volumes.

      @@michaelwest1 It definitely takes up space lol. To be fair, it was only 3 volumes when I was a kid!

    I do not collect much British stamps - I prefer getting commonwealth ones once in awhile but there have been two exceptions in 2022- 2023: THe Military Uniforms issues featuring either a 100% silver or silver clad medal (I got the latter as it was much cheaper) and I am expecting soon the press sheets of the last Queen Elizabeth II First class stamps the first of the King Charles III First Class stamp sheets. I usually would not get this as I thought the price a little high for the face value of the stamp but due to the historic import of such a change, I did buy it as in the end I thought the price fair for what the Royal Mail offers. Just hope it gets across the pond safely!

      Thanks for watching and the comment. I like the older Commonwealth stamps and the Omnibus issues. I hope your royal mail stamps arrive safely. Happy collecting.

      Thank you very much Chris. I like looking at other people's collections as well. Thanks for the continued interest, I've made another short video for Wednesday. It's short and a bit different.

    WHAT WAS THE REASON FOR STICKING SOME STAMPS UPSIDE DOWN?

    • @michaelwest1
      @michaelwest1  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for watching. The upside down stamps have an upside down watermark. The stamps with an upside-down watermark were generally printed that way because they were to be issued in stamp booklets. There are also sideways watermarks for stamps issued in coils. I put them upside down to differentiate them. Do you think it looks too silly? Thank you for your comment.

      @@michaelwest1 No they look great. I've also got thousands of stamps but l only filled the same ones in a small zip packet. It's going to be a massive job to test them for watermarks. I must have millions of stamps as l've bought a stamp-dealer out. Never really knew how to test for watermarks, but saw on TH-cam that lighter fuel was used. Your stamps do look great. My knowledge about stamps is minimal but l'm still learning everyday. I'm 69 years old now, on Government grant but I'm still going strong.

      @@billyjohnesterhuizen6340 Yes, if the watermark isn't visible by turning the stamp this way and that way, you can use a petroleum lighter liquid (the type for Zippo lighters). Just drop some in a black plastic tray (music cassette or cd trays are ideal) and the watermark will become apparent. No smoking though! I think you've bought some stamps that will bring you hours of interest. Again thanks for watching and good luck.
