If they were in the wild, from the get-go they'd always be on high alert and when a predator does catch them, they're eaten alive. And if that doesn't convince you just remember ducks rip off the arms and legs of insects whist they're alive too. So, it's a dog eat dog world. Accept nature.@@HelenaMikas
My dad did the same with chickens on his farm. Lots of cheap chickens and eggs through the summer, and the garden was free from bug & weeds. The expensive part was getting a couple hundred peepers in late winter and keeping them warm and fed in the barn until they could be released into the yard when it got warm enough.
Knowledge is Power. A non-pesticide method of pest removal. PS - I love the ducks looking outside, checking out the scenery while being driven in a vehicle.
This is so nuts. It's crazy how they handle the ducks so well and the ducks respond in kind with an extremely beneficial relationship. The ducks look like they know exactly what their job is and are happy to do it in a very coordinated manner. In the end, both the humans and ducks can eat their fill.
Yes, every morning we take their laid eggs and release them so that we won't have to feed them then at sunset they'll be back. And then the cycle continues.
I went to a winery in Western Australia last year and noticed there were lots of Guinea Fowl amongst the vines. I asked why they were there and they said they performed the same job as pesticides but in an organic way. The place immediately went up in my estimation. 😊

@Altair Ibn La'Ahad it's a genre actually, pop or other types of genre that you know is not entitled only on western or what kind of music do you know. And the ducks extend their generosity even further, as in addition to controlling some pests, they contribute to improving soil fertility in the rice field area.

In return he would get a lot of duck eggs which he can sell for profit and whoever owns those ricefields gets it cleaned. We sometimes search for those eggs for ourselves to keep which he don't mind since he's already getting a lot for himself.

@@jakehands That's exactly what happens. Cost too much to feed the older ducks and in the video he mentioned they don't have to be fed until they grow up. End of the video they are loaded up into cage trucks. Cycle restarts.
@@jakehands well that's the cycle of life, we just made it more efficient. We breed them which increases their population and keeps it stable, keep them alive till adulthood and when they have served their purpose we eat them like any other omnivorous animal. While it might sound cruel, this is actually considerable a prime life for the ducks, they get free meals until they are old, are able to mate and accomplish the main goal of any species in the process (reproduction), and since they don't have brains like humans there aren't many things they "look forward to" or "wish to accomplish".
Yes, it is. My late grandma have ducks too in her paddy field. They're low maintenance, eats pests, doesn't drown in case of floods, and pretty loyal too somehow. And they gave eggs.

@@mickeythedogo703 What I meant was that farmers in my country India use chemical fertilizers and pesticides in excessive quantity, just to increase the output and earn more money, which causes serious health issues to those who eat that poisonous crops. What is admirable is the fact that other than their profits they have thought about the health of the consumers also. The Pandemic situation can decrease their earnings only if they export their crops 2 other countries I mean it's not like people have stopped eating food in this Pandemic.
I saw the word gnats and immediately remembered Bible stories the Egyptian plagues stuff where there were locusts(some Bible versions refer them as gnats)
Wow the West has much to learn from some traditional Eastern farming practice. Co-existing in one's natural habitat in harmony with the cycle of nature - not poisoning the land with quick cheap pesticide solutions. Very smart farming practice - a win win for ducks, rice paddy field & the land as a whole, no dominant player - simply going with the flow.🙂
The west knows about these methods, but we are held hostage by the corporations that make the pesticides. Even those that don't want to use their patented genetically modified plants are forced to pay tribute to them.
This also fits: Farmer: A new power is rising. Its victory is at hand. March to rice fields, leave non alive. TO WAR!!!!! There will be no dawn for pests.

If I didn't appreciate ducks enough until now, this video surely did the trick.
I also have more appreciation for the spider living in our kitchen. Didn't see it do much in terms of pest control yet, but I have faith. You go, Charlie!
How large is charlie
@@Ibrahim-g5o5f
Not very big, definitely seen larger ones of their kind (they're a long-bodied cellar spider)
Maybe u should introduce a thousand of those spiders then your house would be free from insects😂😂😂
What a brilliant example of humans and nature working together in harmony.
Until the cute little ducky ends up on the dinner table.
@@jakehands That's exactly what happens. Cost too much to feed the older ducks and in the video he mentioned they don't have to be fed until they grow up. End of the video they are loaded up into cage trucks. Cycle restarts.
@@BhayBo They go into the cage trucks to go to their stables.
@@blackg.o.a.t7571 but don't they die naturally?
i find this a very innovative solution to pesticides, you can say it's almost organic farming
Why almost? It is.
Yes, it is. My late grandma have ducks too in her paddy field. They're low maintenance, eats pests, doesn't drown in case of floods, and pretty loyal too somehow. And they gave eggs.
@@3rdvoidmen594 am not sure of what they use after the rice has been planted and also what they feed the ducks with for there fertilizer they leave behind in the paddys
It was innovative when they first started doing it, hundreds or thousands of years ago. From their perspective Western farming is an innovative form of food poisoning.
@@lucyndanu5352 they do it before plant the rice. end of that day the owner of ducks just signal and the duck run back to the truck go back to farm ready for invade another rice field tomorrow.

These days most farmers are concerned about their earnings only so what these people are doing is admirable and worth respecting.
? They literally just worked together to get a win-win situation, there's nothing wrong or admirable about that, they were being efficient
And i'd figured farmers these days have a harder time getting a decent earning because of the pandemic/the horrible state that this world is in, you shouldn't blame them for wanting better earnings
@Dust Placeholder Im pretty sure pesticides are less expensive than transportation, breeding, early feeding and slaughter of ducks

The ducks be like:
_avengers assemble_
This also fits: Farmer: A new power is rising. Its victory is at hand. March to rice fields, leave non alive. TO WAR!!!!! There will be no dawn for pests.
