    Thought I would just watch some Aussie guy do some fishing, but soon realised this guy is next level. So much knowledge and skill.
    Note how he always says; 'there he is', where we would say; 'got one'. Says it all. You and me read a river, this guy just puts it under his pillow before sleeping.
    And still admiring and enjoying every single fish, big and small. If I ever grow up, I want to be this guy (I am 44).

      This 'some Aussie guy' is arguably Australia's top competition fly fisher. Whenever Lance and Devin (as nice chaps they are) come up against him, he usually whups their backsides.
      I just wish he'd stay off my rivers though . . . 😉

    Tom, soooo jealous that you are out of lock down but thanks for another great video and commentary - always there is something to learn or have reinforced from watching your videos. Keep the videos coming, it helps to keep me calm during lock down.

    Thanks, Tom. Need this to keep me going until I'm able to hit those little creeks again. I reckon the fish have been missing out on a good laugh, too!

      Hey Ranger, tripped over this footage, must have been Tony BubbleLine Stewart he bumped into. Miss the Ultralite Otway Missions. Don't MISS the leeches though. NZ Rivers open next Friday for me, fingers crossed Trev KiwiFlyFishing Southland NZ

    Looking to get out soon and love the Otways. This might motivate me to get to a couple of my spots. Fishing is just as I remember it...hate the leeches though got absolutely hammered last time I was down there!

    Thanks Tom, I am just about to venture into fly fishing at the ripe old age of 72. I have learnt so much from your videos especially this one, very informative.
    As a beginner would you recommend using barbless hooks or does that make it more difficult initially?
    Thanks again keep up the great content 😎

    • @tomjarmanfishing3208
      @tomjarmanfishing3208  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      That’s fantastic! I’d definitely encourage using barbless hooks as the go into the fish better so you get more hook ups and they are better for the fish also!
      Cheers, Tom

    • @tomjarmanfishing3208
      @tomjarmanfishing3208  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks man. And there are so many streams it’s crazy and they all hold surprisingly good numbers of fish. Just make sure the flows are good. Adventuring around the Aire and it’s tributaries would be fun. Have a read of this fisheries page, it’s how I started exploring there vfa.vic.gov.au/recreational-fishing/fishing-locations/inland-angling-guide/areas/otway/otway-angling-waters

    Great video Tom, almost as good as being there myself. What length of leader were you using, how far from the flyline was your dry, and how far was the nymph from the dry?

    Find it surprising how close you are to the fish without spooking them in shallow clear water.

    Dammed if I can catch a trout in the Otways on a fly :(

  • @TonySelkirk

    Interesting to hear "not much pressure on this stream" in closing comments 12k views? It does now..
    There are the enlightened among us who can make fish porn and feather their nest whilst the rest of us will wonder where the fish have gone. I'll be front and centre down the Otways opening day as I am every year. I'm bound to have (unwanted) company this year.

    Hey Tom I like your work, but I’m not sure a fragile fishery like the otways needs this publicity…
