    So cool for you to take us on this visual journey of these shops. Keep ‘em coming!

    Color me utterly envious . . .
    Magic Sam; Henryk Szeryng: very different; both great.

    Well you lucky dog! Some years back I had a girlfriend in Tokyo who happened to live in Ebisu, one green line stop from Shibuya. I spent hours and hours in the record shops in Shibuya (the HMV and Tower ships were incredible), Harajuku, and Shinjuku. The Disk Union shops in Shinjuku were sooooooo cool, and I have a ton of the limited edition mini-lp CD box sets they put out back then. Did you make it to Dust'N'Dreams while you were there? Tokyo is a music hunter's paradise. It was a dream then to live in Kyoto and take weekend trips to Tokyo on the shinkansen, enjoying a bento box and green tea. Ahhh, sweet memories. Thanks for taking me back through your video. Cheers...

      I did not make it to Dust'N'Dreams. I'll ask my friends in Tokyo about it. Never hear of it until today. No Web site, of course. I'll let you know if it is still operating. If it is, I'll do a video there in '23. Thanks for the tip. I lived on the Toyouko Line in the late 80's and frequented Ebisu a lot.

      @@ricefieldrecords There was a fantastic CD shop in the Mitsukoshi store near the Ebisu station. Dust'N'Dreams was a CD/video shop in Shinjuku that specialized in Led Zeppelin boots. Maybe they are no longer in existence. I took a photo of a photo on the wall inside the shop in 2005 or so: Jimmy Page holding a Zeppelin bootleg. Priceless...

    Your killing me !! As I said.. we couldn't make it into Shibuya, but booked flights for March ( Bangkok ).. and spending two nights in Narita ! This time . I'm there, for sure !! Disk Union, an amazing store, want to hit Hi Fi/ Manhattan / HMV / and maybe Tower, or maybe not ! Hehe. Watching the rest of this now..

      I get it now. You were held at Narita under Covid restrictions. That sucks.

    That "Lindisfarne" ( in the british prog section ) was way cheaper and Japanese press at M. Tanakorn Records in Bangkok.. nice store if you make it over that way.

      Yeah, that Lindisfarne struck me as very overpriced as well. That Flash debut for ¥40,000 is definitely rare in Japan, but it can be fetched for less than half that price. Sometimes they just prey on the lazy. That's the only explanation I can come up with.

    If you go again please look in the rock'n' roll section for Connie Francis. She was and possibly still is very popular in Japan with many #1's.

      Of course! It will be my pleasure. Her records are everywhere. The Ventures are still big in Japan, and still touring here, BTW. Tons of Ventures records as well.

    What would you say if they in Japan say vinyl's condition is E. Is it still in quite nice condition and good to play?

    • @ricefieldrecords
      @ricefieldrecords  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Absolutely! They take incredible care of their records and always grade in a way so there are no customer complaints. E = Near Mint in most cases

      They “sandbag” their grading. It’s a very American expression in sales. See if you can research the phrase. It will shed meaning on my explanation.

      @@ricefieldrecords Sandbag something. :D I don't remember hearing that before. That is fun expression. Now know something more. Let''s see do I remember it next week.
