  • This short video whistles through most of the chemistry of chromium complexes. The structures of the complexes and the thermodynamic and equilibrium factors are discussed briefly. The acidity of hexaaqua cations is considered, together with the dual role of ammonia solution as a Bronsted base and as a ligand. It reactions with bidentate ligands is also considered. There is a separate video here that looks at the preparation of chrom alum crystals. This is just one of several videos covering the chemistry of transition metals and their compounds.

Looks like what's left of some butter knives I stole from an unnamed restaurant. Three of them yielded a decent amount of oxide no then chromates which I slightly acidified for the orange look of dichromates. I didn't know anything about ferreted then. Wish I had kept the slurry during processing. Working on an easy manganate prep using alkaline d cell, calcium hypochlorite and koh in excess due to the calcium being converted to potassium, as needed. Doesn't seem to work w sodium salts

Quite good video , really enjoyed it . And I subscribed.
Only one small thing I want to mention about using NaOH and then mention the potassium chromate ....
Other than that , thanks for sharing .
