People change, circumstances change, and no one is the right person to marry. We are all sinners and the moment we take our spouses and ourselves off that pedastal is the beginning of acknowledging we were probably the wrong person too but the choice and covenant was made before our God and make that daily choice to love our spouse regardless of feelings.

Amen. I get very angry with my husband most of the time for what he says to me but I always think what would God want me to do, and pray for guidance, patience, and forgiveness. Because I know that honoring my marriage is honoring God.

I don't belive he's saying if a husband is abusive stay. In fact get out and take children because God wants us safe.
no,its not saying to stay if violance occur ,this is your decision to go if that happen is better to go if your life is in danger...but if not stay and change yourself ,fix your eyes on Jesus ,He will take you trough...
You cant divorce obviously God hates it. If your in a situation of being abused leave him but do not divorce him, even better PRAY that God would change his heart :)

I agree with this message to a degree. Go back and inquire of the Lord. In some cases He will tell you to leave because your LIFE and destiny may be cut off marrying an agent if satan. How many times have we seen crimes of passion? Innocent blood shed...could it have been those people were warned to leave? Run to God to inquire what to do ... He may have you stay and give you His Grace to OR He might tell you to run/leave!
Well said! I agree! I know...this happened to me! Former spouse was dishonering and was a repeated covenant breaker.
God does not change his word remains the same divorce is only permissive at anytime but remarriage can only happen if divorce is due to adultery
There is a God given spouse our their tho that doesn't want a counterfeit tho but wants the real deal.

Both my sister's were beaten and abused by thier husbands when they converted to Christianity. My youngest sisters husband came to Christ 28yrs later and my sister stayed with him and trusted God to save him. My brother in law seen Jesus in a vision and came to Jesus.

@@sossoft Everyone needs to hear God's word and the messages inspired by Him. Remember that faith comes by hearing; we may never know what aspect of the word of God, that He will use to draw sinners to Him.
A sinner's prayer or prayer of repentance isn't usually what convicts a person- it's just the start of an official relationship. The message that convicts a person will be one that God has purposed to show them how deceitful our own hearts are and how deceitful the enemy is, but how God's love and grace can help reconcile us to Him, so we can be saved and how He can redeem us and our time. It's not for us to choose which part of God's word to give them.

But we have to keep them in our prayers, because our hearts are deceitful and desperately wicked and we all need the Saviour.
And since these people hold such great influence, especially over the younger generation, we need to do right by them and cooperate with God, by bringing His message to them, so that the younger generation will have the right influences which lead them to God. So, I completely agree.
I got ripped of and lied to. My heart literally aches daily and I weep for the loss of my youth believing a lie. I have no option but to stay or lose my child if I take her and leave. Please pray for me I never thought I could be deceived but it happened to me and I am so brokenhearted and crushed in my spirit.

after 6 months you if you have an open mind you can see ho he really is....if you a lot of wisdom you can see in the first couple of dates... I can tell about someone's true character in one weak , maybe two...if you chose to remain blind about do not complain when he or she, it will show his claw...becaouse you chose to remain with him...but to fix it you need to make a difficult decision and fast...or you will get use it and you will stay in this nightmare all your life...
Story of my life like living with this still and i thought that taking the advice of my then pastor I thought I should try to do things right but I always felt as if I dishonored God by marrying someone I thought was my husband. I ignored the red flags on infatuation and deception.
So what happened?

If u stay ,we must know our identity ,our authority in Christ and with fixing our eyes on Jesus ans putting first in our lives ,taking authority over demons ,and with the power of Holy Spirit you can have the breakthrough...i tell you from experience ,i married with chinese ,came to God after marriage,and i stay in this marriage and i fought ,my husband is a believer now....Praise the Lord...
also dont judge him,change yourself,we all have our mistakes ,everybody does ,none is perfect,humble urself...
God can change everybody ,only we need to change first and this is the hardest

Marriage (two people living together to help each other) go to the new testament, not the old. It is a very sensitive, and delicate matter, and should not be taken lightly and over generalized like this.
Secular law paints a broad brush, just as social norms and traditions do, even preachers make this mistake.
Each case must be considered, but it's always better to be safe than sorry.
Women who are being abused, leave the ungodly person, and let God deal with him. Never marry for convenience, if possible, never marry at all as the times are hard.
But if you cannot control your members, then each man must have one wife, and a wife one man.
Marriage is not a legal bond, it's life and death. Yes, even for the children. If at all possible, do not live in an oppressive environment. Take your peace with you. And do not subject your children and yourself to insanity. Some people are under the influence of the evil one, and love to be in it.
Live at peace with one another as much as possible. Pray for the lost. Keep yourselves from evil, and always be on guard.
We are like sheep sent out into the world, so be smart and sharp as a serpent.
May our Heavenly Father give you peace, and comfort. Always remember, this life is only a passing moment. And our Father is looking after our good.
Don't let men hold you in a prison and trap. Be sincere.
My thoughts are that as a new Creation Christian Believer I ought to live under testament rather covenant. Because covenant has given to Jews and I am not. They are the ones who broke it and because of their unbelief today I am accepted. Thank you Jesus.

God has turned people from satanists to Christians. God has turned Saul/Paul from persecutor of Christians to persecuted Christian. If God could do it for others tell yourself that it's easy for Him, He can do it for your husband. Start praying salvation scriptures on him and don't stop till you receive your answer

Mark Ephraim I'm going through the same. But I feel God has spoken to me through this sermon. Im starting to pray every day and the battle has started. What I'm going through as a Christian being married to a non-believer is very hard but I God has new plans for me and I trust him completely. My best advice for you is to start praying like never before and amazing things will happen.

But the whole point of it is to honor it anyway and watch God bless you anyway. As he says, 2 wrongs do not make a right, so the one wrong of making a decision to marry the wrong dude isn't cancelled out if you divorce him (in non-abusive situations, abuse basically means its not wrong to leave for your own safety), so he urges us here to watch God bless your faithfulness and turn the wrong person into the right person. Rocky times are no excuse to leave.

What about people who married abusive spouses? Do they stay in the marriage? I know someone who died from domestic abuse because she wanted to keep a marriage. Please, what’s the right thing to do then?
The best thing to do is to find a professional marriage counselor.
I agree with the person below... Do that first! But you can't make a person change. It will come to a point where both will have to choose. For the person being abused you will have to choose LIFE. God will never want you to live in strife, confusion, fear, control, and ultimately death bc of a law. People will always fail but God is a protector. You may honor a covenant but the other person may not, and that may cost you your life....choose life!
HungryGeneration I come from a country where getting professional marriage counselling is a luxury and they are very few of them (I actually haven’t heard of one hear). It’s a struggle to pay bills, put gas in your car, electricity isn’t constant and the cost of living is extremely high. I
The best thing is to ask Jesus himself.
This is like saying is killing a baby OK when it comes from rape? Are you trying to tempt? Remember there is a differencr between removing yourself from the situation and asking for divorce. God asks us to honor the covenant as the pastor said.
"Your yes should be a yes and your no a no." God is blessing decisions. You decided your self for your partner. And God is blessing this decision. Feelings come and feelings go. God also didn't decide to choose you because of his feelings. He says in hebrews 7,21 "The Lord sware and will not repent himself, Thou art a priest for ever".

Scripture says if the unbeliever leaves you're not bound by the Covenant of marriage anymore.

But if the unbeliever leaves, let it be so. The brother or the sister is not bound in such circumstances; God has called us to live in peace.
Not true that you can remarry. The only case in which you can remarry is if the spouse dies. Otherwise is adultery. The Bible is very clear about it. You should stay unmarried if you really want to obey and honor God. But don't ask people what to do, seek Him in prayer, by fasting and reading the Scriptures, He will lead you to the true. Don't choose to follow what the world does, cause those aren't God's ways.
