    Saban did not plan this out well he didn't even know he was going to retire until literally the last minute. If you listened to his own words we was interviewing someone to be his DC the next minute he's announcing he is retiring... he was in a hiring meeting at 3:55pm from what I understand and at 4:00 pm he's telling his players he's retiring. He gave NO WARNING the the recruiting class he had been working on for the better part of a year or more. That's now planning things out. Saban known for his process didn't let these players or Coaches know what he was going to do now we are losing ELITE PLAYERS that would still be here if this was handled better. We might still be able to get some of them back... MAYBE, but this leaves the next man to lead Alabama College Football in a bad spot that we didn't need to be in had this been planned out better and everyone was on the same page.
    One minute guys think we are going to be playing under Nick Saban the GOAT 🐐 the next minute nope we are getting someone else... who maybe in a couple of years can get us their, but this guy was put in a position he SHOULD NOT BE IN trying to hold these guys together telling them they will be ok here under his new system....

      U know I'm a Bama fan since I was 8 years old Bama vs Penn St for the national championship Bama won 14 to 7 but anyway this is by far the most dead on explanation of it all brilliant but in my personal opinion either. Coach is sick or miss terry someone's health is the issue not sure which heard speculation miss terry is suffering dementia I do not know no one prolly does except those involved if any ones is they are in my prayers and only best wishes anyways all u have to do is listen. He said it himself it was what almost 4 pm he had two letters one to retire one I think about recruiting well now we know which one he gave of course he could have done it better well in a selfish person way he could have no he done it his way who could possibly be mad look what he done for Bama we will never be looked at as nothing but excellence the standard even if we lose 5 games for the next five years that's what it would take we have lost 29 games since 07 come on man wth not counting the first year but after that Saban has a 89.7% winning percentage no one is even close to that ever six Nattys 9 sec championships 9 and 4 in playoff and bcs era if he had of won all the championships he played in he would have ten 6 at Bama 1 at LSU I think two sec championships at LSU the dudes record speaks for it's self but we can't be mad for real but that's my own opinion

    Lowe makes a good point on Sarkisian. Also it’s much easier to succeed at Texas with unlimited money and more importantly way over a decade of subpar underperforming coaches to be compared to. Sarkisian is a great coach and is building a great program at Texas with no motivation to leave so I doubt he would have been contacted by Greg Byrne who is a knowledgeable realist as an AD. The same with Smart at Georgia since he has built the program there and he and his wife are both Georgia alumni. I suspect Dabo Sweeney at Clemson wasn’t contacted as he has built that program as well. Even though Dabo is an Alabama alumnus, his reluctance to change and adapt in the portal era probably was a red flag concern especially since Coach Saban was so adaptable to rule changes in the game over his 17 years at Alabama.
    I still think Coach DeBoer will have success at Alabama, but impatient fans need to give him a chance. Keep in mind he won’t have a full week in the state until this Saturday. It’s a fast paced time of year in College Football and the jealous haters who have stewed over Coach Saban’s success revel in the opportunity to attack the program and the new rules allow so many things that weren’t allowed even 5 years ago. So Alabama and the SEC are changing but so is the entire game of college football.

    There was no good time or way for Saban to retire. But the system is broken. The minute he announced the Vultures started circling. These kids are taught it's all about the money. Can't blame the players, blame the NCAA for instituting some without checks and balances.

      He could have waited another week and any players transferring out wouldn't be able to practice with another team until summer enrollment opened up. Not that they couldn't transfer out, but the incentive to do so would be minimized. That way the incoming coach would have all spring to work with the current roster and have the spring transfer portal to recruit replacements for anyone they knew would be leaving. And dirt bag teams like Georgia would be delayed in bringing the players the poach up to speed and have less time to prep them for the upcoming season.

      And no one wants Coach Saban to be like Coach Bryant who died a month or two after he retired... Every Alabama fan who follows this program could tell each year was more difficult for he & Mrs Terri. We all knew this day would come. We wish the Saban's nothing but a good life, a healthy life and as we all want to do, to be able to ride off into the sunset on our own terms.

    SABAN SHOULD HAVE RETIRED IN 2020 AFTER WE WON THE NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP. Saban should have planned for his retirement in 2019 with plans to name Sark the Head Coach in Waiting BEFORE the 2020 season started. 🙄 🤷‍♂️. That would have left the program in much better shape than it is in now.

      He should have tried to fix the portal before he left... Leaving at the last minute really hurt Bama with players who had no loyalty to the school!!! It is sad and will eventually happen to every program if the players do not have to pay to leave or either can only leave once. Come on, this isn't rocket science. Put some limits on the portal and pay to play. This is ruining college football!!!

      There are only 3 schools in the portal right now. 99% of the talent comes from 1 school. He got 1 of the best available players from the portal, not their main need, but they did have to fill a qb spot with buchner leaving. He is putting his coaching staff together right now, he's made some great hires. Just got a good position coach from Wisconsin. He's got to get a good coaching staff to start getting recruits in. The portal opens in spring for all schools, that's when he has the best opportunity to fill positions they need.

  • @Britton_Thompson
    @Britton_Thompson ปีที่แล้ว +11

    Spare me. He left at the worst possible time. There was no plan to stabilize the roster for the transition. He just made a decision one day- five minutes before the mandatory team meeting -and called Miss Terry to tell her what he decided (from out of nowhere) so she didn't hear it from the media first.
    How do you go from interviewing people for the Defensive Coordinator position one minute to suddenly retiring the next?! For the man who supposedly planned for everything, he suddenly started flying by the seat of his pants on his most important move of all:
    His exit.
    I don't blame him for retiring. I blame him for not having a transition plan in place.

      It wasn’t his job to have a transition plan. He was just the coach. Athletic Directors have the job of planning for transitions and procedures. If the Bama AD refused to accept that all the talk about Saban retiring was real these past 3 years, that’s not on Saban.

    He should have announced a week earlier than he did (right after lost to Michigan). The Portal closed but it is open for Alabama due to the rules so Alabama can lose players but cannot go find replacements. Can't say that I am crying too much as a Vols fan because we got messed over many times in the past (including by Alabama's Pruitt).

  • @banjax80
    @banjax80 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    The reason Alabama is losing so many recruits in the portal is because they have so many players other teams want. Would be worse if we only had players nobody wanted or couldn't go anywhere else and be a starter.

  • @ELuman
    @ELuman ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Well if your going to pay players now then there needs to be a draft to make it all fare for college football. If a player wants to go to Bama he has to fall within the guide lines and where you finish the year before is where you draft from like the NFL does. Your being paid now so if you want to play you gotta go where your drafted and should only be aloud 5 years in college football, make the game better.

    • @blackllamasociety9123
      @blackllamasociety9123 ปีที่แล้ว

      I agree with your premise but instead of a draft it needs to be a NIL salary cap. Schools, or to the point head coaches, also need portal restrictions. One portal transfer every two seasons, would be fair to players and programs imho.

      @banjax80 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@jedroueche8161 who though? All of his original disciples moved on. And a coach like DeBoer would not leave a HC position to be his understudy. Kiffin, Sark, and others were all in a situation where they crashed at their previous head coaching position and needed to go through the Saban rehab program. The only one out there was Pruitt and he is in probation jail with the SEC.
      Only thing that would have made it any better is if he waited until they fixed the NIL and free agency that the transfer portal is. That or wait a couple more weeks until other schools spring enrollments were closed and players would not be able to transfer and participate in spring camp. Alabama is going to have to wait until May 1st before all schools open the portal again and they won't be able to transfer and play an SEC player right away. SEC requires non-grads to sit out a year when they transfer to another SEC team. But don't have that same thing for those that transfer during this 30 day window. Effed up.
