    I had a professional wedding photographer friend who used a pair of these back in the day. 80mm is equivalent to 50mm on 6x6.
    I had a Bronica EC with an electronically controlled focal plane shutter and a 50mm f4 Nikkor lens. A very sharp lens with great contrast and colour rendition
    I used it for landscape photography.
    I had the 75mm 2.4 Zanzenon lens as well for portraits.

    The best intro I've seen. Thanks heaps man. I'm borrowing this camera from a friend and was struggling to understand it. It has a prism on it, is totally manual like the RB67 I used to have so I need to meter manually first. And thanks for the tips on the switches. I would've been shooting multiple exposures. Haha

    I'm switching from 35mm to 6x6 Bronica SQ-A
    But there's something I do not understand, how can I set the ISO I want on the camera?

      This camera does not have a light meter, so you cannot really set the ISO. You have to use a hand-held meter to measure the light, and then set shutter speed and aperture manually. You may be able to find a metered prism for it, but I am not sure. :-)

      You can also add different viewfinders which do contain an internal light meter. On top of the film magazine is a dial for setting the ISO, and there are two electronic contacts which the viewfinder connects to so it can read the ISO that has been set on the dial.

    Hi, should the SQ-A still turn on if it has no film roll in it? I want to sell mine but it doesn't switch on. It has a working 6v battery but no luck. I'm wondering if it could be because there's no film roll. I'd appreciate any help, thank you

      Sorry, I did not see this before. I am not 100% certain what you mean by "turning on". The battery is there only to "fire" the shutter, and for the correct amount of time. When this is happening, a little red LED light in the view finder lights up. Otherwise, there is no other immediate sign that the camera is on. Film would not make any difference though. If all other things are set correctly, you should get the camera to fire and you should be able to see the shutter stay open and close for a given period of time by looking through the lens.

      @@stevantontichphotographyvi9358 Thank you so much for replying, I haven't looked at the camera for a couple of weeks but I will have another look tomorrow, following your guidance. By turning on, I literally mean any sign of life, a light or a noise! Just to clarify, I would still be able to get the camera to fire if there is no film? Just to test it is functioning? I will try tomorrow. Really appreciate the reply, hopefully I will be able to finally make sense of it :)

    I have the SQ and the Film goes into the upper position in the film back, is it different with the SQ-A or is a mistake in the video ?

      You may be right. It watched that part just now, and I think the take up spool was left where new film goes. The fresh spool should be installed where the red indicator is, so it is on top. Just looked at the manual, suggests the same thing. Thanks for the correction.

    Probably a weird question, but is it possible to advance the film by less than a frame? Maybe activating the multiple exposure control at the right time while advancing the entire mechanism?

    Interesting and helpful thanks. How easy is it to focus with the wlf and/or the prism?( I'm long sighted)

    • @stevantontichphotographyvi9358
      @stevantontichphotographyvi9358  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi there ...I guess not too hard, but it would be same as reading something. So whatever you need when you read, you will have to have that on when focusing. Hope that makes sense.

    Do you know if there is any digital back on sale for sq-a?

      I am not 100% sure, but I think there is none. I know they have digital backs for Contax and Hasselblad.

    Can you show how to shot long exsposures more than 8 seconds ?

    • @stevantontichphotographyvi9358
      @stevantontichphotographyvi9358  8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      +yurykm I have to say, I have not tried this yet, but I have done some research. There are 2 different lens types - the earlier S and the later PS lenses. The idea is same on both, but the way you do it is slightly different. For the S lens, there is a "switch" on the bottom of the lens with what looks like a little screw. You have to undo the screw a little, and move the switch over to T. That should allow you to keep the shutter open using a cable release. On the PS lens, you move the same switch, but I think this one has a little pull pin. Try and see. You would have to return these to the way they were before, to stop. There are other blogs / posts on this issue, so I would check them also.

      Get you a Cable Release and it should attach to left side near bottom.... Set shutter to bulb mode and as long as you keep the reals depressed, the shutter in the lens remains open....

    Those in the know grab these as a cheap alternative to hasselblad.
