In this video I do a bit a maintenance and an upgrade to my 1997 Toyota 4Runner SR5. First I change out the spark plugs. Then the fuel filter gets swapped out. And finally we do a Intake upgrade. Hope you enjoy. Thanks for watching.

I also did my spark plugs by feel since I didn't have a torque wrench. The upgrade to the intake is definitely nice! Clears up so much space up in the top.

It absolutely clears up that space. And I really like the sound.

I just bought a '98 Limited a couple weeks ago to replace my 2000 SR5 Sport that got totaled by insurance after hitting a deer last month. The previous owner had installed a similar air intake setup. I couldn't stand the loud droning sound created by it. There is zero benefit over a stock air intake. I have another '98 SR5 parts rig that I just finished taking out the stock airbox and installed it in the Limited. The annoying droning sound is gone and the truck accelerates like it should. These aren't drag cars. This style intake is a total waste of money in my opinion.

For me it has nothing to do with it being a drag car or not. For me it's an issue of the SUV, or any vehicle in that matter, sounding like it's being choked out due to restrictions. I just did this for the sound. I didn't get a 97 4Runner to worry about quietness or luxury. It's a utility vehicle and as such I like to hear the thing run. Also mine doesn't have any issues with acceleration using this intake. No different than stock. I wasn't expecting any increase in performance from this. I did mention in the video one of the main reason I was doing this is that the stock pipe has too many additions on it for sound reduction and it just looks like a cluster due to it. I wish the pipe would have worked with the stock box but unfortunately it did not.
But I am happy to hear you prefer the stock intake.

To each their own... Like you stated in the video at partial throttle it wasn't too bad. But in my case it sounded like it was starving for air at full throttle and was soooo loud it almost sounded like it had an exhaust leak. And I personally don't want a loud vehicle. I passed on a 2012 SR5 that someone installed an aftermarket exhaust on because the drone sound inside the cabin was so loud it sounded like it was straight piped. Many people install these types of intakes thinking they are going to get a big difference in performance and/or mpg... it's simply not the case with this engine.

But they are Motegi MR150 Trailite 17x8.5 +0 with 265/70r17 Hankook Dynapro AT2. Everything is linked in that video that I did on them.

Its still low. I think I might have gotten a single mpg but that might be it. I am still trying to look into this further.
