I just finished rewatching a bunch of NuWho episodes before the new season air and I came back here. I usually don't comment, but this time I feel like I gotta just share this: Thirteen's era was really, really special to me!
I remember I grew up watching Nine and Ten's seasons with my brother, over the time he kept on going but I stopped. I used to look up to the Doctor, but I never felt actually close to them, not until Jodie took the role. I felt seen, welcomed. I agree that the writing could have been way better lol but her time as the Doctor brought so many important discussions to the table and it really opened the doors for a wider public AND for this new, *new* DW era.
I don't regret anything, it was full of joy, laughter and tears. What a time, what a universe!!
I might love many other Doctors, but Thirteen will forever be MY Doctor. Thank you for everything 💙💙

I'm glad the first female Doctor was Jodie Whittaker. I've enjoyed her time on the show. I'm glad she had a great time making Doctor Who because making the show is hard work. All you have to do is ask any actor who has played The Doctor. Script writing, Set Building, costumes, location shoots, all take time and effort. I'm glad they chose a pretty young woman to play the role. She was nice to look at, brilliant costume and I love her Yorkshire dialect. Jodie brought herself to the role. I have all of her series on Blu ray and I have been watching them again. My favourite story is Power of the Doctor. All the Doctor Who actors were great. I bought Power of the Doctor as a steel book which came with the other 2 specials.

@@echidna8857 Absolutely! Some of the writing was incredibly bold but I don't think that's a bad thing. It's what Doctor Who has always done [and hopefully will always do!] I loved to have a Tardis Team again, I loved that a lot of the episodes had a more serious tone compared to Moffat's era [which I also liked! But it's just nice to switch things up now and then and I personally love Doctor Who best when it comes with some social commentary and historical shenanigans]. The only 'bad' thing I can say about the Jodie/Chibnall run was his tendency to make the 13th state obvious things which made her character appear weaker than she was. I also wasn't a fan of breaking the fourth wall [characters don't see what isn't in the frame. It bugged me endlessly each time it happened XD] but that's just a personal preference thing.
Her farewell was beautifully written, I cried a little at seeing all the old companions meeting up to exchange stories and previous incarnations giving 'their farewell' to Jodie + her last moments with Mandip. It was really nice and finally no companion had to die-not-die again to be written out of the show. There was a calm decency to it that I really appreciated.
I have the feeling that Chibnell had a real grand plan for the Doctor but had to change a lot of things due to current circumstances and seeing all the negative comments makes me really sad and angry because...what an achievement! To get through this time, probably change so so so much you wanted to do, keep the spirit and make the best of it. I really think he did.

I'll miss them so much, I had a lot of fun with them, and I'm more than grateful for Jodie being the most joyful and full of love in the heart Doctor we ever had, I don't think any of the previous ones can even compare on the level of just pure love that emanates from them as a character. Not saying that the previous ones weren't loving, just how much Jodie's Doctor radiates with the sentiment of love and joy, and that's what I'll remember her for. Also thank you to Mandip for being an AMAZING actor and carrying the seasons with Jodie for me ♡.

bit late to this comment section, but I think a nice thing with Eccleston recently-ish in an interview, when asked "who's the best doctor?" he said "Jodie Whittaker" to a roaring response from the audience. Jodie took The Doctor and clearly put her soul into the part. Separate from what anyone thinks of the writing good or bad, she fully embraced who the doctor is on a fundamental level, the curious, kind hearted, determined, fixer-of-the-universe, heroic Time Lord/Lady and played that character very well. Her final episode was written amazingly (imo) and she got an amazing send-off. She can come back to the TARDIS anytime :)

I remember every detail of the day that I saw jodie’s announcement as the next doctor. the first woman to play the doctor, my doctor, the character I love the most. I was so excited and jodie did not disappoint. I saw myself in 13th’s shoes as she took the most amazing adventures as a woman. And Thasmin being real!!!! Don’t even get me started on that. As a bisexual, seeing yaz and the doc together on top of the TARDIS just eating ice cream, it blows my mind how doctor who can deeply show love without needing a single touch between characters. I loved 13th’s era and I’ll forever be grateful for it. thank you jodie and mandip 💙

I'm 57 and one of my earliest memories not just of Dr Who but of all time is Alpha Centauri in The Curse of Peladon. Dr Who has been a big part of my life through the ups and downs the series has had over the years but the one thing I have learned is that while there have been some dire stories over the years (and we will argue which these are forever) there are no bad Doctors. Some have been jarring to begin with but each era is it's own special jewel. A Metebelis gem isn't a Scringe Stone but they both glitter.

Jodie has been my Doctor, Mandip has been my favourite companion, this has been my era. When Jodie started as the Doctor I was in year 6, age 12, and now I'm entering my final year of school. Series 11, 12 and 13 have all meant so much to me, getting me through the toughest of times such as the pandemic, the 13th Doctor was truly MY doctor. I hope Jodie returns one day as the Doctor in an anniversary special, cause her era to me has truly been incredible. Thank You Jodie, Chris, Mandip, John, Bradley, Tosin and everyone involved with the production of my favourite era of Doctor Who, I can't wait to see what you all do next!
I can't believe I have to say this when we are talking about a show that talks of love and kindness, but if you intend to reply to this comment with a negative comment, I would appreciate it if you could keep them to yourself, or express them somewhere else.

I respect Jodie as an actor, she never stopped giving her all. I really didn't like this era. To me, it felt like the writers thought they knew better than everyone who had come before them and who had so carefully managed the shows history. Again, this is only my opinion as I know a lot of people liked it but I felt the writers didn't take the time to think things through and used the shows amazing canon to to create quick and confusing episodes that were all about huge reveals for the sake of pushing up viewing figures. I can't wait to see what Jodie does next, I wish her all the best. I'm really looking forward to seeing the next episode, something I haven't said in a long time.

Any remaining doubters out there just need to see how much of herself she's given to this role and how much she's got from it. What a legendary performance and era as a whole.
    Merci, merci .. Très sincèrement
